Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 414: Chapter 222: I’m Going on a Blind Date with Him (Third Update)

After she posted this, those in the industry who were eager to malign Lucas Harlow didn’t dare to do so anymore.

By 8 p.m., all the negative topics about Lucas Harlow that were bought to trend had disappeared, completely deleted.

Only the news of Lucas Harlow’s new identity exposure remained on the trending list.

At this time, an unexpected short video shot by a ”passerby” suddenly emerged like a dark horse.

The footage isn’t quite standard, even a bit blurry, but one can clearly see a very handsome and attractive man playing games with children in an orphanage.

The shooter of the video said: ”I don’t know who this man is who frequently comes to the orphanage to do charity work? Does anyone recognize him? No other intentions, just think he is so kind-hearted and want to date him!”

Yes, the one filming the short video was a girl, who was especially bold and straightforward, directly expressing love in the off-screen voice of the video.

With the bonus of a handsome guy doing charity and a chance encounter with a beauty wanting to date him, this short video didn’t need any promotion to ascend into the top ten of the trending list just by public appeal.

Although not as powerful as the trending topic of Lucas Harlow’s new identity exposure, this short video had a more substantial vitality without a money boost.

Soon, its number of shares surpassed a million, reaching the top spot of the trending list.

The identity of this person was uncovered, and it turned out to be the signed artist of NewHuman Entertainment Ltd., Henry Carter!

Although not as famous as Arthur Johnson, he was a second-tier celebrity, only next to Arthur Johnson in television circles, with his acting skills being highly praised.

Summer Spencer simultaneously hurried to contact the charity organization shooting the public welfare short film, saying: ”Look how good our Henry Carter’s reputation is, not like those actors who only know how to engage in fights and slander on social media. Our Henry always quietly goes about doing charity. This time, if it hadn’t been captured by that girl, honestly, I wouldn’t have known he supported so many orphans in the orphanage!”

This statement is indeed flawless.

Henry Carter truly did charity; he had long been connected with that orphanage, automatically transferring money into the orphanage’s account every month.

The charity organization also felt troubled. The Lucas Harlow and Arthur Johnson they favored had successively stumbled; currently, it seemed like only Henry Carter was the most suitable.

Besides, they’ve been overwhelmed with people offering roles recently and wanted to quickly finalize the role, so they wouldn’t be bothered anymore.

Under Summer Spencer’s multiple persuading, the charity organization gave the role of the male lead in the public welfare short film to Henry Carter.

At the first moment of getting the contract, Summer Spencer couldn’t wait to post a message on her new company’s official Weibo account.

”Official Announcement! The male lead is decided for the public welfare short film directed by the most famous foreign director and invested by the largest domestic charity organization!”

Then she tagged Henry Carter’s personal Weibo account, the charity organization, and the foreign director’s official account.

From trending on short video to getting the role, it only took two hours.

There was a mention in a chatting screenshot of Arthur Johnson’s previous assistant that Arthur Johnson was also vying for this opportunity.

Now, with the charity organization’s official announcement, Arthur Johnson immediately became the subject of mockery across the internet.

”Haha! The top star failed miserably, the Johnson cavalry lost even before setting out!”

”Still a top star, being a third-rate star in the future would be nice!”

”Hehe! Right! Our Lucas is the real top star! Henry Carter is the second star! Hahaha!”

One Weibo post after another circulated rapidly, clearing Lucas Harlow’s name from rumors, and elevating his reputation even higher.

Henry Carter got the much-anticipated male lead role in the public welfare short film and was immediately elevated from second-tier to almost first-tier status.

The only one beaten down with no chance to recover was Arthur Johnson.

The matter with Lucas Harlow also indirectly proved that NewHuman Corporation intended to abandon Arthur Johnson and focus on cultivating Lucas Harlow.

And the public welfare short film he longed for fell into someone else’s hands.

Arthur Johnson sat on the windowsill, staring at his phone with a somewhat dazed look.

He watched Weibo for a while and then called Summer Spencer, saying blandly: ”President Spencer, what do you mean?”

”I don’t mean anything...” Summer Spencer said smilingly, ”Are you calling to congratulate us on Henry getting the new role?”

Arthur Johnson took a deep breath, suppressing his resentment, and asked: ”I wanted to ask you if you plan to sign with me or not.”

”About that...” Summer Spencer just wouldn’t answer directly, instead perfunctorily said: ”I told you, in a month and a half... I’m very busy, let’s talk later.”

After saying that, she hung up the phone.

She folded her arms, looking at the printed contract, and the anticipation of Henry Carter’s impending rise with satisfaction.

She had finally fought her way to a perfect comeback!

...

At this moment, Lawrence Winters was still working overtime in her office.

The issue with Lucas Harlow was successfully resolved, yet she hadn’t completely eased her mind.

For some reason, her heart was still a bit erratic.

She sat in the office for a while, finally taking out her Copper Coin, tossing it a few times, and got a divination.

”How can it be?” She looked at the divination sign and then moved her gaze to the two names on the table in front of her.

Arthur Johnson, Lucas Harlow.

Lucas Harlow should be fine now, but Arthur Johnson...

Oh no!

Lawrence Winters felt her heart skip and immediately called Arthur Johnson.

She called several times, but no one answered on the other end.

Lawrence Winters then called Arthur Johnson’s assistant, Xiao You.

Xiao You knew he had caused big trouble and was extremely anxious.

When he received Lawrence Winter’s call, he spoke to her as if grasping the last straw: ”Miss Winters, Brother Arthur hasn’t been answering my calls! Can you please help me apologize? I really didn’t mean to!”

Lawrence Winters knew things were bad, saying: ”Okay, you don’t do anything first, go to sleep, and don’t worry.”

Then she called Edward Foster: ”Little Edward, do you have Arthur Johnson’s address?”

By this time, Arthur Johnson had already taken a bottle of sleeping pills, leaning on the windowsill’s board, looking at the high-rise scenery, his consciousness fading away.

When Lawrence Winters and Edward Foster arrived, they only had time to rush him to the hospital for a gastric lavage.
