Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 410: Chapter 220: Rabble

Arthur Johnson’s fans suddenly realized that the two accounts were not the same but marketing accounts deliberately causing trouble, and they immediately exploded with anger.

They promptly controlled the comments under the marketing accounts, flooding them with many Arthur-related topics, even doing so under every trending topic, criticizing NewHuman Corporation for suppressing Arthur, while also slamming Lucas Harlow for establishing a persona of ”not competing or fighting,” secretly being two-faced, and stepping on colleagues to climb the ranks!

Of course, ”Lawrence” didn’t escape their insults either, being called a scheming witch for riding the coattails of their ”Zhao Clan Cavalry” fans to rise to fame.

In short, as bad as ”Lawrence~” got cursed, ”Lawrence” got cursed ten times worse.

However, the intensity of their insults didn’t benefit Arthur at all. Instead, it piqued people’s curiosity about Lucas Harlow and ”Lawrence,” and many flocked to Lucas’s side, giving him a surge of new followers.

Arthur Johnson’s fans were fuming.

They weren’t just ordinary fans; they were the famous ”Zhao Clan Cavalry” in the industry!

When the Zhao Clan goes to war, no grass can grow!

They must protect the best Arthur!

They had to suppress Lucas Harlow’s popularity. No one could compete with their Arthur for the top spot!

At this point, ”Lawrence~” popped up again with advice in Arthur’s fan group, saying, ”Your insults are useless; controlling comments under trending topics will only make people dislike you.”

”What should we do then?” Most of Arthur’s fans were young, many were middle and high school students, who were easily agitated and could be incited.

”Lawrence~” said, ”How about this, let’s flood the trending topics. Just think, if we can tarnish Lucas Harlow’s reputation, he won’t have any chance of becoming popular! It’s no longer an era where any publicity is good publicity. Now, if he has a stain, he’ll definitely fade into obscurity!”

”Our goal is to ensure his downfall and prevent him from challenging our Arthur for the top spot!”

”Exactly! The top spot belongs to our Arthur and no one else!”

”That’s right! Let him copy keys! Ask him how many keys he copies!”

When the atmosphere was heating up, ”Lawrence~” suddenly said, ”Don’t you think it’s strange? When others rise to fame, they either have a powerful supporter or works. What does Lucas Harlow have?”

”He’s never played a lead role, always a supporting one, his acting is average, yet he consistently has roles, albeit as a supporting character, in films by top directors over the years. Don’t you find it odd?”

These leading questions quickly stirred everyone’s imagination.

”Yeah... why is that? Does he really not have a benefactor? That’s impossible! Every celebrity has a benefactor; he must have one too!”

”From what I know, getting roles in films from several top directors isn’t something an ordinary person can achieve. I suspect Lucas Harlow not only has a benefactor but more than one!”

”...Could it be that Lucas Harlow is being kept by several wealthy women?”

”Yes, yes, yes! That’s definitely it! Let’s go and flood the tags!”

And so, a group treating the Internet like a game eagerly began flooding topics on Weibo.

#Shocking! Lucas Harlow has multiple benefactors#

#Lucas Harlow, portraying a pure ”lotus,” how many wealthy women do you have?#

#Lucas’s persona crumbles#

#Lucas Harlow wants to be the top? More like the top streetwalker!#

A series of topics flooded in, and someone covertly bought trending spots for a few of them.

By the afternoon, seven out of the top ten trending topics on Weibo were about exposing Lucas Harlow!

Lawrence Winters had been in a meeting all morning, discussing which new script to choose.

The script meeting lasted until two in the afternoon.

Feeling famished, she intended to check her phone briefly before heading for lunch, but as soon as she unlocked her phone, the Weibo notifications crashed it.

Lawrence Winters: ”???”

What major event had occurred?

Rebooting the device and opening Weibo, she discovered that many people had tagged her ”Lawrence” account, along with a flood of insulting private messages.

It had been a long time since she had experienced such a spectacle, and Lawrence wasn’t angry at all; she was even slightly amused and curiously clicked in.

After reading the mentions and her private messages, she scrolled to the initial post under a million-follower marketing account and took a look.

Oh, this instigating Weibo post was crafted really well, even considering every angle beforehand, hence using two somewhat blurry images to arouse everyone’s indignation.

After taking screenshots, she found ”Lawrence~” in Arthur Johnson’s super-topic group.

This account was too suspicious, looking so similar to hers. She was curious to see who this person really was.

Opening the person’s profile, she found it was an account registered quite a while ago, even predating her ”Lawrence” account, which was slightly embarrassing.

Lawrence Winters tugged the corner of her mouth and continued to review their Weibo, ultimately uncovering that the person previously used to be named ”Willing to Love Qianjin Light as Lawrence,” judging by the timestamp, this person had used the name ”Willing to Love Qianjin Light as Lawrence” two months ago.

After taking a screenshot of this name, she ventured back to Lucas Harlow’s super-topic group, observing the discussions about morning events, noting their fury. Yet, how could they match Arthur Johnson’s fan base?

This was the largest fan base within the industry. Not to mention emerging stars like Lucas Harlow, even well-established ones driven by fans and marketing couldn’t compare with the Zhao Clan Cavalry.

After reading the comments, Lawrence replied helplessly, ”Why didn’t you verify who it was before going to Arthur Johnson’s super-topic to argue?”

Lucas Harlow’s fans were embarrassed, collectively stating, ”That marketing account was too misleading, you couldn’t tell the difference between the two accounts from the pictures.”

Some also stated, ”Our Lawrence’s account has always been this one, but Arthur’s side’s ’Lawrence~’ used to be called ’Willing to Love Qianjin Light as Lawrence!’ She’s riding our big fan’s fame!”

Evidently, some had realized the issue, went back to Arthur Johnson’s super-topic group, and reviewed the ”Lawrence~” profile from scratch.

Now what?

The negative topics about Lucas Harlow on the trending list were mounting aggressively, nauseating even the uninformed onlookers.

Regardless of the truth, these actions were severely damaging public goodwill.

What should she do to reverse the downward trend?
