Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 419: Chapter 225: Knowing Where He Is (Third Update)

Hazel Winchester might be excited about the news, but Summer Spencer wasn’t at all happy, because it held no benefit for her.

Initially, she thought she could use Ava Harlow’s connections to probe Blue Heavy Industries, see if there was any chance for collaboration.

Now that she knew Ava Harlow and Blue Heavy Industries were practically sworn enemies, what’s there to collaborate on?

Summer Spencer unhappily hung up the phone, feeling discontent, she went back to urging the charity group, asking if the director had been finalized yet.

Previously, the famous foreign director had already declined the charity’s invitation, stating they had signed an exclusive agreement with Blue Heavy Industries and couldn’t shoot for others.

The charity organization was planning to hire a domestic director instead.

What’s the point of this charity short film then?

Moreover, NewHuman Corporation and Blue Heavy Industries are even collaborating on a charity movie!

The levels aren’t even comparable.

Summer Spencer pounded the table hard, angrily throwing herself onto the sofa, burying her head in the pillow, screaming to vent her frustration.

...

Spring Spencer was also in Capital City, she had been overwhelmed by the trending searches on Weibo these days, and finally saw the long-lost Blue Heavy Industries!

This overseas company still had ties with her mother’s maternal family.

Unable to resist, she called Ava Harlow: ”Mom, did you check the trending searches on Weibo recently?”

Ava Harlow was sitting in the warm flower room, watching the manicurist she had hired work on her nails.

She wore a Bluetooth headset to speak with Spring Spencer, laughing as she said: ”What trending searches? You know I never look at those things.”

”Occasionally it’s worth skimming through.” Spring Spencer hesitated for a moment but decided to say: ”I saw Blue Heavy Industries on Weibo today.”

Ava Harlow paused, ”Blue Heavy Industries? Isn’t it abroad? How did it appear on domestic Weibo?”

”...There’s a third-tier domestic celebrity named Lucas Harlow, and he’s actually the heir of Blue Heavy Industries.—Mom, how did this happen? Didn’t they say Blue Heavy Industries didn’t have a son? Where did this Lucas Harlow come from?” Spring Spencer asked slightly curious.

Ava Harlow furrowed her brow, ”That can’t be right... Our Harlow family is related, but that branch went abroad early, settled firmly, and became distant from us.”

”Your great-uncle only had a single daughter, no son... Could he have had another son later?”

Spring Spencer simply searched for a photo of Lucas Harlow online and sent it to Ava Harlow, ”Here you go, it’s him, adopted, perhaps? No way... Would such substantial family assets ever be given to an adopted child?”

Ava Harlow, staring at Lucas Harlow’s photo, suddenly became dazed, murmuring, ”...He didn’t go back to inherit the family assets, but instead became a celebrity here...”

Ava Harlow’s gaze became unfocused.

Spring Spencer asked in surprise: ”Mom, do you know this Lucas Harlow?”

”Of course, I know him.” Ava Harlow freed one hand with finished nails, rubbed the phone screen a few times, her expression inscrutable, saying: ”You’ve actually seen him when you were young.”

Spring Spencer was utterly shocked, ”I’ve seen him when I was young? When? Why don’t I remember at all?”

”Overseas, you were very young at the time, just over a year old, of course, you wouldn’t remember.” Ava Harlow laughed, ”Alright, why suddenly bring him up?”

Spring Spencer hurriedly said: ”Shouldn’t we visit him, have a meal with him?—He’s family after all.”

Ava Harlow nodded, ”Definitely, have to eat.”

She smiled and nodded, ”I’ll make a call first.”

Ava Harlow hung up Spring Spencer’s call and sent the photo to her father, also added a message: He’s a celebrity in the country.

Ava Harlow’s father is also a significant figure abroad and has been increasingly connecting with the country in recent years.

Unfortunately, resources are temporarily limited, unable to achieve significant development.

...

Lawrence Winters slept the whole day, and only got up in the evening.

She took a bath in the bathroom and then dressed in casual wear to come to the living room.

The old Daoist remained seated cross-legged on the sofa, wearing reading glasses, holding an IPAD to read.

Lawrence Winters smiled and sat opposite him, waving to greet him, ”Great-grandmaster, didn’t you go out today?”

The old Daoist looked up at her with a smile, ”Did you sleep well? Had a tough night, huh?”

”It was tough, but since Arthur Johnson’s matters are related to me, I can’t just stand by.” Lawrence Winters shrugged, also moved her legs onto the sofa, her feet resting on the opposite sofa’s armrest.

”I hear your master say that you have karma with Arthur Johnson, so you stayed in his ward the whole night to settle this karma, right?”

Lawrence Winters nodded, ”Yes, last night Kenneth was also there, we were quite safe.”

The old Daoist smiled and nodded, ”That’s good, Lawrence, you really have a talent for Daoism, when are you coming back to help your master and me? Our family enterprise can’t be without you!”

Lawrence Winters smirked, ”Great-grandmaster, don’t exaggerate. I’ll definitely come back, but not now, I have to at least help my artist release a TV drama.”

”Okay, think about it first.” The old Daoist didn’t persuade further, ”When the time comes, you’ll naturally want to return.”

Those cultivating Dao always advocate going with the flow, never force.

Lawrence Winters agreed cheerfully, then opened her phone to check her bank account balance.

Though wealthier than average peers, in Lawrence Winter’s mind, it’s still far from enough.

She played on the phone for a bit, felt hungry, and noticed it was already six o’clock.

”Aren’t we having dinner now?” Lawrence Winters stretched lazily.

The old Daoist leisurely stood up, walked towards the kitchen, ”The dishes are ready, waiting for your mom and master to return to start cooking.”

Lawrence Winters remembered Kenneth Osborne hadn’t come back yet, grabbed her phone again and sent him a text: Kenneth, when are you returning?

At this moment in Kenneth Osborne’s office, he had interviewed people all day and recruited many bright, energetic, and diligent graduates from prestigious universities.

Although these people didn’t have much work experience, Kenneth Osborne’s AI Vision Promise, as a startup, didn’t need those workplace veterans who loaf around.

He only recruited fresh graduates for research and development positions.

Only the support staff required very experienced individuals.

For example, the finance manager he hired was a middle-aged woman with twenty years of work experience.

There was also an office manager in her thirties, who was also a woman.

Blake Leaf is now the manager of the operations department at AI Vision Promise, overseeing the company’s app and official blog.

Kenneth Osborne sat in his office for a while, then packed up his things to head home.

As he passed by Blake Leaf’s office, he saw the lights were still on, smiled, and knocked on the office door, saying, ”Blake, you can go home now. If there’s nothing urgent, you don’t need to stay so late.”

Blake Leaf quickly said, ”It’s not that there’s nothing, there’s a lot to do. I’m looking for a set of company management software, preferably a large database system that integrates finance, operations, and financial reports.”

”Oh, it’s not too late to look tomorrow.” Kenneth Osborne smiled, the car keys dangling from his fingers catching Blake Leaf’s attention.

He smiled and nodded, ”Then I’ll be heading home.”

Kenneth Osborne waited at the door, and when he saw Blake Leaf packing up to leave, he locked the company door.

Blake Leaf curiously asked, ”Mr. Osborne, how many people have you recruited?”

”The budget for the first phase is forty-five people; it’s almost there.” Kenneth Osborne smiled and said, ”How’s the operation of your app and official blog going?”

”The program I wrote myself has a lot of bugs; I’m still refining it.” Blake Leaf said a bit embarrassingly.

”No worries, as long as you wrote it yourself step by step, bugs aren’t a problem. Don’t use ready-made frameworks from others; we need to have our own things because these are the basics, the skeleton. We can’t just work on applications.”

Kenneth Osborne encouraged Blake Leaf.

Blake Leaf nodded vigorously, ”Got it, Mr. Osborne!”

Kenneth Osborne got into his car and quickly drove away.

Blake Leaf watched Kenneth Osborne drive away before starting his own car and leaving the parking lot.

It was already half-past six, and the sky was completely dark.

He was a bit distracted as he drove, thinking about when he could save enough for a down payment to buy a small apartment, and when he could find time to have dinner with his ”Three Billion Sister.”

He hadn’t seen her in a long time.

Moved by the thought, Blake Leaf picked up his phone to call his ”Three Billion Sister.”

As he searched for her number in the contact list, he didn’t notice the car in front of him slowing down.

With a crash, he bumped into the car in front.

He had rear-ended it.

In the case of car accidents, the rear car is always at fault for a rear-end collision.

When Blake Leaf saw the car he hit, he was almost faint with dismay.

It was a Mercedes G-Class!

How could he afford to pay for that?!

Blake Leaf gripped the steering wheel tightly and slowly pulled over to the side of the road.

He was discouraged, almost to the point of tears.

The Mercedes G-Class in front also pulled over to the side of the road.

A graceful woman got out and approached Blake Leaf’s car window, knocking on it.

Blake Leaf looked up, finding her somewhat familiar as if he’d seen her somewhere before.

Slowly, he finally got out of the car.

Standing in front of the woman, he finally got a clear look at her face, and his heart stirred. He hurriedly said, ”Hello, Miss Spencer, what brings you to the Capital City?”

This woman was Spring Spencer.

She raised an eyebrow, ”You know me?”

Blake Leaf quickly said, ”I work in the same company as Kenneth Osborne. I’ve met you and your brother and sister before while following him.”

Spring Spencer gave an ’oh,’ ”You work in the same company as Mr. Osborne?”

”Yes, I’m the operations manager.” Blake Leaf warmly shook hands with Spring Spencer and said, ”...I’m sorry, I didn’t see your car.”

Spring Spencer smiled cheerfully and said kindly, ”No problem, since we’re acquaintances, let’s forget it. My car’s rear is sturdy, it wasn’t damaged.”

”How could that be okay?” Blake Leaf insisted, ”Please give me your contact information, and I’ll have someone from the 4S shop fix it for you.”

”It’s fine, I’ll handle it myself,” Spring Spencer refused, again insisting she wouldn’t take Blake Leaf’s money.

She could tell from one look at Blake Leaf’s car that having him pay for repairs would be a burden.

Seeing Spring Spencer’s insistence, Blake Leaf had an idea and said, ”How about I take you out to dinner, as my way of apologizing.”
