Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 418: Chapter 224: Childhood Sweethearts

He thought she was the one trying to drag him from his top position.

Why is she here?

Arthur Johnson felt a wave of unease but couldn’t say a word.

He shifted on the hospital bed, finally startling Kenneth Osborne awake.

Kenneth opened his eyes and quickly looked over at the hospital bed, just in time to see Arthur Johnson moving.

Kenneth hurriedly nudged Lawrence Winters and said, ”He’s awake.”

Although Lawrence was extremely sleepy, he immediately sat up straight and glanced toward the hospital bed.

Arthur Johnson heard the sound and happened to look over.

Lawrence exhaled in relief, removed Kenneth’s coat, stood up, and walked to the bed, asking, ”Arthur Johnson, are you okay? I’ll go get a doctor.”

Arthur Johnson nodded; his throat felt fiery and hot, unable to make a sound.

It’s good that he’s awake.

Lawrence took out his phone and sent a text to Edward Foster, asking him to arrange some reliable people to look after Arthur Johnson.

Edward Foster was still asleep at this moment, but he had set special alerts for Lawrence’s calls and messages.

So as soon as Lawrence’s message came through, it woke him up with a beep.

Seeing that Lawrence said Arthur Johnson was awake and wanted him to find some people to take care of him, Edward Foster became fully awake.

He quickly called Lawrence and said in surprise, ”You were in Arthur Johnson’s hospital room all night yesterday?! Don’t tell me you spent the night in the hospital!”

Actually, those single rooms generally have dedicated nurses; there’s no need for family or friends to stay overnight.

Lawrence remained there due to special reasons, needing to resolve some unfinished business with Arthur Johnson, so he stayed to wait for him to wake up.

This reason couldn’t be explained to others.

Lawrence just chuckled and said, ”I started this task, and I had to see it through. How could I leave in peace without seeing him awake? Now that he’s up, I’m finally exhausted and need to catch up on some sleep.”

He had been sleeping crookedly on the sofa all night and now felt like his waist was about to break.

Massaging his waist, he put away his phone and turned to see Kenneth standing behind him, frowning at the spot where Lawrence was rubbing, ”What’s up with your waist?”

”It’s sore...from laying twisted on the sofa. I need to catch up on sleep,” Lawrence yawned again.

Kenneth said, ”Go wash up in that bathroom before you head out.”

Lawrence: ”...”

He rushed to the bathroom to check his reflection in the mirror, only to find his hair ridiculously sticking up.

Dark circles made his pupils seem even darker, and his hairstyle was a mess; truly...a sight for sore eyes.

Covering his face, Lawrence screamed, realizing Kenneth had seen him like this, and he blushed a bit.

Kenneth stood at the bathroom door, watching Lawrence cover his face, and laughed, ”We’ve grown up together; what haven’t I seen?”

Lawrence gave a laugh, wet his hand to smooth his hair, and said with a grin, ”Kenneth, your words have a double meaning; there are many ways you haven’t seen me.”

Then he winked at Kenneth through the mirror.

Kenneth swallowed, diverted his eyes, and said, ”Just freshen up a bit, then go home first.”

Lawrence nodded, messily ruffled his hair a few times, and left Arthur Johnson’s single room with Kenneth.

Soon after they left, Edward Foster arrived with some guards to watch the room and also a female caretaker.

It was still early, and media reporters and paparazzi hadn’t arrived at Arthur Johnson’s hospital room yet, so everything was smoothly handed over.

...

Lawrence returned home, fell into bed, and slept without saying another word.

Nick Zeller and Gabrielle Winters still asked Kenneth Osborne to learn they had both kept watch in Arthur Johnson’s single room the whole night before.

Nick calculated the entanglements between Arthur Johnson and Lawrence and laughed, ”So it was to resolve some unfinished business. Okay, all’s well now.”

Kenneth was slightly taken aback, so that was the reason.

He subconsciously glanced toward Lawrence’s room.

The smoky gray-purple door was securely locked, and the person inside was surely already asleep.

Gabrielle looked at Kenneth and said, ”Kenneth, don’t you want to sleep as well? You don’t look like you slept well.”

”Oh, I don’t need it. I have things to do at the company today,” Kenneth replied with a smile, ”I’ll get going now. Goodbye, Auntie Gabrielle, goodbye, Uncle Nick.”

He nodded politely, grabbed his car keys, and went out again.

Gabrielle watched Kenneth’s back with a smile and said, ”Wouldn’t it be great if things could always go on like this.”

Nick chuckled, ”Haven’t we already been living like this?”

”...I wonder when those two plan on getting married,” Gabrielle said to herself, then turned to Nick, ”Brother, can you make a prediction for these two about their marriage?”

Nick spread his hands, ”My ties with Lawrence run too deep, making it hard to make an accurate prediction on matters of romance.”

In truth, he didn’t want to predict it; not at all.

Gabrielle had no suspicions and nodded, ”Then I’ll ask the old fortune teller when he wakes up.”

Nick thought to himself, the master surely doesn’t want to predict it either...

But there was no need to mention this to Gabrielle.

...

At that same moment, in Summer Spencer’s apartment, she hadn’t slept all night.

The deal, which had been set in stone and signed, was ruined by the Foster Family just like that!

She was indignant, truly indignant!

But how could she have known that the charitable organization, claiming to be the largest civilian charity, only had a verbal agreement with that big foreign director?!

How did the other side find out this information?

She couldn’t figure it out no matter how hard she tried.

And wasn’t Blue Heavy Industries somewhat connected to Aunt Ava Harlow if she remembered correctly?

Of course, Ava was just a distant relative of that family, but she should be able to say something.

Summer thought about this and immediately called her mother, Hazel Winchester: ”Mom, is Aunt related to that Blue Heavy Industries abroad?”

This topic Hazel was well acquainted with, and she laughed, ”Yes, her family once envied the assets of Blue Heavy Industries and insisted on adopting their own son, the younger brother of the second child, to inherit those assets. It backfired, nearly collapsing their business, so she had no choice but to become a concubine to Mr. Cen to protect the family business... hahaha... She always says it was through a matchmaker, thinking others don’t know the truth?!”
