Warhammer Divine Throne

After three more days of rest, Laine finally led his army back to Count Glamorgan’s domain. By the time they returned, it was already May, and the lands of Brittania were once again filled with vitality.

Laine lay comfortably inside the soft carriage, with plush cushions and blankets laid inside. Sunlight streamed through the windows. The count tucked himself into the corner of the carriage, leaning against a soft cushion: ”Veronica, what are you looking at?”

Besides Laine himself, Veronica was also in the carriage. It seemed the three women had agreed to take turns accompanying him, and now it was Veronica’s turn. The witch sat next to him. In fact, Laine’s injuries had already healed considerably, so Surya had loosened the restrictions a bit.

”Me? I’m reading this book. I found it in the library of Leonais,” said the Jialan Witch, seated by Laine’s side. The pearl earrings swayed by Veronica’s ears: ”It’s a rare original. Lord Dalheid sent us many things to thank us for our support.”

”Original? What have you learned? What’s written inside?” Laine curiously sat up to peek, casually wrapping his arm around the Jialan Witch’s waist, taking advantage of her, to which Veronica didn’t object.

”This book records bits and pieces from before Charlemagne the Great founded the Human Empire,” Veronica nestled into Laine’s arms, sitting on his lap, the Jialan Witch’s sweet face tinged with a blush: ”Come, let me tell you.”

Veronica had obtained a book of early records of the Brittania people, detailing events before Charlemagne established the Empire.

”Fifteen hundred years before Charlemagne the Great founded the Empire, humans had been observed to be actively moving around the Old World; the first humans were discovered by a group of dwarves. The dwarf Supreme King at that time was Gaucrux-Shattered Star, who, while fighting by the mountain, noticed a group of humans passing nearby. They existed in tribal forms and, upon seeing the dwarf Supreme King, they were utterly panic-stricken and did not come to pay the Supreme King the due respects but ran away instead. This event was noted in the dwarves’ Book of Hatred, and it was only erased later when Charlemagne the Great formed the Holy Alliance with the dwarves,” Veronica flipped through the book with great interest: ”But the dwarves always remembered it and sometimes joked about it with their human friends. At that time, the Human Wizard Empire, propped up by the elves, had already been destroyed in the north, leaving the humans as mere barbarians. The dwarves despised their craftsmanship and culture but admired their bravery and strength.”

”That’s typical of dwarves,” Laine remarked sarcastically, holding Veronica from behind, sneaking a kiss on the Jialan Witch’s soft cherry lips: ”What else did you see?”

”Brittania people were once part of the Charlemagne Empire, that was over a millennium ago; over two thousand years ago, Brittania people became famous in the Old World for their excellent equestrian skills. But after Charlemagne the Great disappeared, the Brittania people did not acknowledge his successors, so most crossed the Gray Mountain Range, migrating en masse to what is now Brittania.” Veronica continued flipping the pages, her cheeks increasingly flushed as Laine’s hands roamed over her full chest and silk-stockinged legs: ”Laine... not here, wait until we’re back at the domain, whatever you wish will be as you like, don’t do it here, Surya will have words for me.”

”Hmm, continue,” Laine said, merely taking advantage.

”Of course, before the migration, large numbers of humans had already settled here... Anyway, the Brittania people swiftly found suitable places to live in what’s now Brittania, which were numerous ruins and remnants of elven cities.” Veronica snuggled into Laine’s embrace, engrossed in reading.

”The Brittania people spent two hundred years learning many techniques left by the elves, forming their own culture. After nearly a millennium of development, Brittania and the Empire’s culture across the Gray Mountain Range have many differences; though both acknowledge each other as human kin, after the Great Holy War ended, Savior Ludwig visited Kulona to propose to Knight King Taylor that Brittania become an imperial province and join the Empire. All the Dukes of Brittania refused,” Veronica laughed: ”Looks like the Dukes were not content to live under someone else’s roof.”

”Haha~ indeed.”

Throughout the journey, laughter and joy abounded.

While Laine sat in the carriage, leisurely returning to Count Glamorgan’s domain.

The Old World, Imperial Capital Brunswick, Imperial Palace.

Emperor Karl Franz, Emperor’s Standard Bearer Ludwig-Schwarzhammer, Wolrich Prince-Elector and Duke of Midland ”One-eyed” Boris Todbringer, and Talabeheim Prince-Elector and Duke of Talabeck Helmut Feuerbach, Wolfen Prince-Elector and Grand Duke of Oster Vamil von Rukov, and Imperial Royal Wizard Academy Alchemy School Grand Tutor Biersaze Gaert.

These individuals were in a meeting.

”Egil, King of the Skalings, is dead. He was killed in the northern parts of Brittania by Lady of the Lake’s Divine Chosen Champion Laine Macado. According to Nord sources, chaos erupted in Norsca and the Northern Wasteland, ambitious chiefs began to fight amongst themselves, and within a few days, multiple small tribes were annihilated.” Emperor Karl Franz spoke with an unusually relaxed tone: ”This greatly relieved the pressure on the northern seas of the Empire; General Heilberg, along with the Rick Guard and troops, easily wiped out numerous barbarian armies attempting to raid south.”
