Warhammer Divine Throne

”Could it be Egil’s axe?” Laine casually remarked.

”Exactly.” Veronica still wore a smile on her face. The Jialan Witch had obtained quite a bit of Magic Ore: ”Both of Egil’s Hell Battleaxes are made of Vibranium. Your Dwarf friend said that if we melt them down, we can refine a large piece of Vibranium. Not to mention making a new axe for Brother Angerong, there would be enough to make you a Warhammer as well.”

”Excellent.” Laine was satisfied this time and instructed Veronica, ”We can ask for fewer of the other things, but we must try to get as much Vibranium as possible.”

”I’ve already secured quite a lot for you... Lady Veronica, Lady Teresa, you’re both here.” The door was pushed open again, and Surya walked in. As soon as the female Knight entered, she saw the two witches, one leaning on Laine and the other holding his hand. Seeing this, Surya said in a displeased tone: ”Ladies, didn’t I say that since Laine is injured these days, you shouldn’t stay overnight with him?”

Surya’s tone wasn’t pleasant. The female Knight, born of noble status, had a gentle and virtuous character. She understood Laine having multiple lovers, never feeling jealous, but she was concerned for Laine’s wellbeing. Since Laine was currently injured, it was unsuitable for him to share a room with anyone.

”Uh, we were just worried that Laine might be bored by himself, so we came to chat with him.” Veronica hurriedly explained, fearing Surya’s misunderstanding. Teresa nodded repeatedly seeing this: ”Me too.”

Veronica was the main suspect; Teresa had yet to share a room with Laine.

Laine noticed that the two Jialan Witches were somewhat intimidated by Surya. Although Surya hadn’t been in the Legendary Tier for long, as the Duke’s daughter, she had already established authority by Laine’s side and within his domain. She managed the affairs of the Count’s Domain with impeccable order, contributing significantly to its current prosperity.

After chatting for a while longer, Veronica and Teresa reluctantly left. Only Surya and Laine remained in the room. The beautiful and noble Knight was dressed today in a post-rain dusk gray Brittania Great Noble mermaid dress, with black lace stockings and blue high heels on her feet. Her golden long curls hung straight down to her waist, sapphire earrings sparkled, and the fragrance of lilies filled the room. The Knight sat beside Laine, holding his large hand: ”Laine, are you feeling any better?”

”Yes, I feel much better after resting for a few days.” Laine held the Knight’s hand: ”You’ve worked hard, Surya.”

”Laine~ Between us, is there a need to mention hard work?” Surya gently pinched Laine’s hand with her alabaster fingers: ”It’s you leading the army, fighting on the front lines, dueling as a champion, and killing Egil. All I can do is support you from behind. We are betrothed; there’s no need for separations between us.”

Laine didn’t speak, but he was deeply moved. Surya’s temperament was truly the type he liked the most. She always managed everything well. Laine originally had concerns about his inner court, clearly aware that Teresa and Veronica had a terrible and hostile relationship, Amelia and the two witches had an average relationship and their own secrets, and Ollica trusted no one but Laine.

Yet Surya easily dissolved these tensions by drawing one faction, striking another, and isolating yet another.

The first person the female Knight attracted was Amelia. The young maid, sensitive and delicate, was treated like a sister by Surya. Through warmth and gentleness, she melted Amelia’s defenses. After a few months, Amelia was sweetly calling her ”Surya Sister.”

Ollica was the isolated figure. As a dark elf and Laine’s personal maid, she had no external support, isolated and weak. She had never been a match for Surya. After being isolated, Ollica, unwilling to leave Laine, inevitably had to bow to Surya.

The remaining two Jialan witches were targets to be struck. Veronica knew her place, conceding early. Teresa, however, was still unwilling. In Laine’s speculation, the female sorcerer may have privately discussed matters with Surya regarding their outcome... need it be said further?

”Laine? What’s on your mind?” Surya removed her high heels and climbed onto the bed, leaning gently on Laine’s shoulder, her ocean-blue eyes gazing at him: ”You seem preoccupied.”

”I was thinking, you always told Veronica and Teresa not to sneak around, but in the end, it was you doing it!” Laine joked mischievously. The man’s hand was somewhat inappropriate, sliding up the Knight’s dress, feeling a delicate smoothness. Surya quickly pressed the man’s hand, stopping it from going further.

”Laine! You rascal! Why is your mind filled with such filthy thoughts?” Surya blurted with her face flushed. She immediately rose: ”If you keep this up, I’ll leave!”

”No, no, please!” Having already ”teased” Surya a bit, Laine quickly changed his tone: ”Being alone is so boring.”

”As long as you’re okay.” Surya then sat properly, leaning on Laine’s shoulder: ”If your injury is stable, I plan to stay here for another three days, and then we’ll return to Count Glamorgan.”

”Very well, I have no problem with that. I am, however, concerned about one thing.” Laine looked up at the window.

The curtains covered half of the window, candles and magic lamps lit the room. The dark night sky enveloped Leonais Castle. This former Duchy’s glory was now a thing of the past, leaving behind significant devastation. Even though this victory had been won, Laine felt little joy, for the Moment of Destruction was drawing near. Increasingly frequent Chaos invasions were a precursor. This victory was crucial for him; the threat of the Northern Barbarians had temporarily been dismantled, granting him precious time for development and recuperation.
