Warhammer Divine Throne

The flames were ignited in the great hall as the Lake God Prophet Anara shared her final words with Kaled. She faced the flames with a bittersweet smile and stepped into them.

”No! Sister! No!” Kaled tried to reach out, but was stopped by the others: ”Kaled! Stay calm!”

”No, sister, you don’t have to do this!” Kaled wanted to say more, but Anara’s figure had already disappeared into the flames, her white silhouette wilting within the fire.

Before leaving, she leaned over Jules, smiling, gently stroked the peaceful face of the Holy Grail Knight Commander. As the fierce flames consumed, this Lake God Prophet let go of the Lake Fairy’s bestowed power, engulfed by fire.

”It was her choice, Kaled.” Dalhaide held onto Kaled’s clothes: ”You have to respect her choice. In this country, no one can order the Lake God Prophet of the Lady...”

”I’m the only one left, truly the only one left.” Kaled dejectedly pushed Dalhaide away, walking out of the hall alone.

He also made up his mind to start his own Holy Grail Expedition.

......

Post-war Leonais was already in ruins, except for the inner castle area which had not been overtaken; the entire castle was a chaotic mess. The Barbarians looted whatever they saw, smashed doors whenever they found one. If not for the Knight Army led by Laine bringing enough supplies, this castle might have faced the danger of running out of food.

Hubert led three thousand knights and three thousand Knight’s Squires to pursue the fleeing Barbarians. However, the Barbarians from the small tribes took advantage of the Knight Army besieging the Crimson Guard and had already boarded the Dragon Ships and retreated. They retreated in a panic, leaving behind the old, weak, sick, and disabled. Hubert gave a simple order regarding these left-behind: execute them all.

At night, atop the high tower of Leonais’ inner castle.

A three-story high tower within the inner castle was assigned to Laine and his attendants. The interior decoration was quite exquisite and luxurious. The hero of Brittania was wearing a bathrobe, resting on the bed, many parts of his body still bandaged, with soft blankets covering him.

In his absence, Surya was the supreme commander of the Knight Army, and no one dared disturb the Divine Chosen Champion of the Lake Fairy as he rested. The Countess was handling various affairs below.

Laine was contemplating the outcomes of this war.

Egil’s death meant a lot.

Egil was the King of the Skalings, the overlord of the Northern Wasteland, the ally of the Norsca Tribes, the Divine Chosen Champion of Khorne, the hunter of countless dreadful creatures, and the nightmare of the Southern People. His death meant a lot.

Firstly, the Barbarians lost their leader. Undoubtedly, these countless Barbarian tribes lost their chief. Egil had established a kingdom based around the Scalings Tribe, with numerous small tribes offering tribute in peacetime and sending troops in wartime, relying on his immense prestige and formidable personal strength. This kind of kingdom was incredibly powerful while Egil was alive, but once he died, everything would crumble to dust, and this system would collapse in an instant.

Secondly, in this war, the Skalings lost all their elite. This tribe usually controlled numerous small Barbarian tribes, relying on a formidable and large army. Now, the elite of the Skalings was completely eradicated in this battle. In the future, for a minimum of three to five years, or as long as ten years or more, the looting pressure on the Northern Barbarians by the Empire and Brittania will be significantly reduced. This is undoubtedly a good thing.

Lastly, Brittania also had to face its own predicament.

This Chaos invasion also inflicted heavy losses on Brittania. Leonais, in the almost full mobilization of the entire duchy, suffered more than half losses. Including Jules, four Holy Grail Knights died in battle, and over forty percent of the reinforcements brought from Kulona were lost. After this battle, the strength of the northern nobility of the Kingdom suffered greatly, and they might also take several years to recover.

Laine was still pondering what he could gain from this war when there was a knock at his door.

”Knock, knock ~ Laine, it’s me. May I come in?” came a mature voice from outside.

”Please, come in.” Upon hearing the voice, Laine knew who it was. His room was located on the third floor, with knights residing from the first to the third floor, and outside, there was the array set up by Veronica and Teresa, making it impossible for anyone to sneak in.

The tall and slender figure of the female sorcerer appeared behind the door. Teresa seemed to have just bathed, with her hair glistening with moisture, her face slightly flushed. She was wearing a gray Gaelan-style dress with a fine pattern, the slit of the dress revealing her fair long legs, faintly visible.

”You seem quite leisure while your fiancée is still downstairs in an endless meeting with a group of great nobles.” Teresa’s silver eyes gleamed brightly. She pulled over a chair, then took out a glass bottle and two goblets from behind: ”Care for a drink?”

”Teresa, I’m injured, I can’t drink.” Laine complained somewhat.

”It’s not alcohol, it’s fresh orange juice. I also added a little medicine to it, ensuring you can heal faster.” The female sorcerer mischievously looked at the slightly embarrassed Laine: ”You’re injured, knight, have a drink.”

”Alright, I suppose I was a bit presumptive.” Laine took the goblet; the taste was sweet and sour orange juice, with some profound flavor mixed in, clearly indicating the sorcerer had masked the medication within the juice to make it palatable.
