Warhammer Divine Throne

Caught off guard, the Heavy Knights had about twenty of them pierced on the spot, and more than ten fell off their horses and couldn’t get up.

Not every knight has the ability to purchase and wear plate armor for themselves. Most knights wear chain armor, which offers good protection in melee combat but is completely ineffective against ranged attacks.

This cavalry unit is called the Norsca Champion Hunters, numbering over four hundred. They are a small contingent carried by Egil for his southern expedition, only used at crucial moments.

Many knights immediately galloped to chase, raising their cavalry lances toward the barbarian cavalry, but the barbarian cavalry were extremely fast, swiftly circling behind the Brittania Knights.

Chaos Champion Kowendeve drew a javelin from his back: ”Fire!”

More than four hundred javelins were instantly launched in unison, with another thirty heavy cavalry falling from their mounts. Hubert was infuriated by the barbarians’ despicable provocation, raising his two-handed broad-blade giant sword: ”Knights! Charge!”

A large group of knights on the left wing quickly turned their horses, charging at the barbarian cavalry. The barbarian cavalry laughed heartily. Their steeds didn’t wear heavy barding, nor were they clad in heavy armor like the Brittania Knights, naturally making them much faster. By the time the knights barely turned around, they had already run far ahead.

Hubert led the heavy cavalry in an attempt to attack the group of barbarian cavalry led by Chaos Champion Kowendeve, but they couldn’t catch up. After several such exchanges, the knights on the left wing were beginning to show signs of fatigue.

”Hahaha! Southern mongrels! You can only eat our dust from behind! You can’t even touch our horses’ tails!” Many Norsca Champion Hunters laughed heartily, cheerfully turning their horses’ heads to evade the knights’ pursuit once again.

The plan had succeeded. As long as the knights on the left wing were constantly maneuvered by them, it was impossible for the knights to complete the encirclement of the barbarian army attacking the central army.

Unconsciously, they had already run to a gap between the central army and the left wing.

”Hmph!” A cold smile appeared on Hubert’s face. He immediately issued an order: ”Knights! Spread out!”

”Yes!” A large group of knights spread out, leaving the barbarian cavalry perplexed. Kowendeve had not realized what was happening, while the peasants from the Brittania central army received the command: ”All lie down!”

Thousands of peasants immediately lay prone on the ground.

Behind the peasant infantry was a large group of dwarfs and three rows of pitch-black gun barrels. Behind the dwarfs were hundreds of peasants, with dwarf crossbows in their hands.

Dwarf Engineer Dugen the Ironman held a toothpick in his mouth: ”Fire!”

”Boom boom~ boom boom boom~”

More than two hundred Dwarf Thunder Gunners simultaneously fired, a dense barrage nearly engulfing all the barbarian cavalry. Blood, sand, and lead splattered everywhere on the battlefield, the sound of ”fwp~ fwp~” from hits echoed all around. In such dense fire, more than a hundred of the barbarian cavalry collapsed on the spot, many of them struck by multiple bullets, falling dead immediately. In the blink of an eye, more than fifty barbarian warriors died on the spot, over seventy were wounded or unhorsed. Chaos Champion Kowendeve realized the situation had turned grim, hurriedly ordering: ”Scatter! Quickly scatter!”

It was too late.

Even after the dwarfs finished their volley, the crossbowmen still had their time to shine. Having spent months or even longer learning to aim, shoot, and reload quickly, they raised their crossbows, aiming at the barbarian cavalry and pulling the triggers.

The dwarf crossbows were of excellent quality, and the short crossbow arrows they fired were filled with penetrating power, dealing heavy blows to the barbarian cavalry once again. When over five hundred Norsca Champion Hunters retreated in embarrassment, they were reduced to fewer than three hundred.

Hubert then led the knights to charge at the wounded barbarians who had fallen from their horses, thoroughly annihilating these barbarian cavalry.

”When did the Southern People develop such a powerful shooting force, and when did the Brittania people form an alliance with the Dwarfs?” Egil immediately realized his previous plans had failed. With the remaining light cavalry no longer enough to restrain the left wing’s knight corps, he needed to rapidly eliminate the enemy’s ranged forces located in Laine’s central army!

At this moment, the barbarian army in the central route had approached Laine’s central army.

The central army soldiers faced the black tide rushing toward them with some trepidation. Many peasant soldiers couldn’t help but tremble.

However, they had already received their orders. They knew how to deal with these formidable foes, as most of the peasants had received Laine’s command. When the barbarian army quickly approached, the peasants in front of the barbarian forces swiftly retreated into the military formation in an orderly manner, according to Laine’s prior orders.

Now, the Chaos Warriors who charged into the central army found themselves facing elite soldiers wielding long halberds or sword and shield, who stood extraordinarily straight and organized, much to the surprise of the barbarians. The first row had their right foot extended, holding long halberds, while the rest raised shields, ready to meet the chaotic charge of the Chaos Warriors.

Simultaneously, hidden crossbowmen behind gave the charging barbarian warriors quite a welcome, with dense crossbow arrows causing the front row of barbarian and Chaos Warriors to topple in masses. More importantly, a hidden deadly weapon behind the formation finally fulfilled its purpose.

That was the Organ Cannon.

All four barrels of the cannon were loaded with lead pellets blessed by the Lake God Prophet or even the Lake Fairy!
