Warhammer Divine Throne

A glass of juice down, Laine put down the book and started chatting with Teresa: ”Surya is downstairs?”

”Mm, Miss Surya... or should I say Lady Surya is having a meeting downstairs. The spoils of this war are quite abundant. I honestly don’t know what kind of place the Northern Wasteland is, why the barbarians are so impoverished in all resources except for various precious metals? We seized over thirty thousand gold crowns’ worth of gold, silver, and copper from the barbarian camps, along with countless rare metals. That dwarf you brought... his name was Dugen, right? He said he’s never seen so much good stuff in his entire life.” Teresa crossed one of her long legs, looking quite relaxed: ”Surya hopes to help you secure more interests.”

”The Northern Wasteland is a magical realm, Teresa. There, the resources are scarce; it’s swept by the Wind of Chaos year-round, perpetually cold, with Chaos Corruption everywhere. Despite the territory being twisted and changed by the Chaos Energy, amidst the dreadful dangers lies hidden wealth—never-ending gold mines, iron mines, and other mountains rich in precious metal veins.” Laine said with a smile, ”Don’t think that the Nords are always fighting with the barbarians, trade goes on intermittently as well. Some small southern Norscan tribes trade large amounts of ore and metal with Nords for food and necessities, and many trading posts are crucial mineral sources for the Kingdom... Just that no one brings these things to the open.”

”Mm.” Teresa responded absentmindedly, gazing at Laine with an obscure expression behind her butterfly-patterned glasses, looking both proud and worried, confused.

Laine noticed and took the initiative to ask, ”What’s wrong, Teresa?”

”Nothing... Have you broken through to the Holy Sanctuary?” The female sorcerer looked at the handsome man leaning at the head of the bed and finally asked her question: ”I can feel that your power has become stronger.”

”Yes, why? I’ve been stuck at the Legendary Peak for a long time.” Laine held Teresa’s cold little hand: ”What’s so strange about my breakthrough?”

”Thirty years old, you became a Holy Sanctuary powerhouse at thirty, apart from His Majesty the Savior Ludwig a hundred and sixty years ago, there’s no second... And, Laine, your breakthrough is different from what I imagined.” Teresa was evidently pleased with Laine’s initiative, she turned to hold Laine’s hand gently: ”Do you know how my mother broke through the Legendary Peak and advanced to the Holy Sanctuary?”

”I’m keen to hear more.”

”Mother locked herself in the top floor of the Wizard Tower for nearly three months, the Frost Energy spilling out extended the winter by three months, until a pillar of light enveloped the Wizard Tower when she broke through the ice, declaring her advancement to Holy Sanctuary. But Laine, your advancement was as easy as eating and drinking, apart from the powerful aura that flashed across you at the time, I could barely confirm that you were already a Holy Sanctuary powerhouse.” Teresa shook her head, gripping Laine’s hand: ”You’re really special, truly.”

Holy Sanctuary signifies the mortal limit, advancing to the Holy Sanctuary means a mortal has reached the life limit in a certain aspect, every Holy Sanctuary powerhouse is the most valuable resource for their power, not used unless absolutely necessary.

From another perspective, it’s very challenging for a mortal to reach the limit in any aspect, just like the hundred-meter dash, where ordinary athletes can run in thirteen or fourteen seconds, school and provincial teams can reach twelve seconds, national teams reach eleven seconds, and though the time difference seems just second by second, the effort and price paid increases geometrically.

But Laine is the Emperor’s son, he inherently lacks such constraints, the Holy Sanctuary threshold may seem unreachable to mortals, requiring long accumulation from quantitative to qualitative change, but for Laine, these do not exist; as his strength reaches, growth suffices, he naturally breaks through.

”Everything varies by person, Teresa, don’t push yourself.” Laine spoke softly: ”Just be yourself. We are partners.”

Teresa detected that Laine was deliberately shifting the topic, but the Count’s current attitude delighted her, the female sorcerer ceased to mind the issue, and spoke with some tease in her tone: ”We’re still partners? You have so many women around you now—fiancée, partner, two personal maids. Our contract ended in Marinburg, I’m just an outdated partner now, oh, also a thirty-something old woman~”

”Don’t say that, Teresa, thirty is the start of your prime years. Since you came here seeking me, our contract continues, and has seen new progress.” Laine adjusted his position to make the feather pillow behind him more comfortable: ”I never go back on my word.”

”Also, my dear sorceress, don’t underestimate your own allure.” Laine closed his eyes, inhaling the lavender scent from Teresa’s body: ”You smell so good of lavender... Like a snow lotus on a high mountain, witnessing your beauty is not easy, dear Teresa, you look gorgeous tonight.”

”Laine~” Teresa’s gaze flickered with emotion, for the female sorcerer felt Laine’s words immediately hit the spot, evidently she had deliberately bathed, changed into a beautiful dress, applied perfume before seeing him.

The female sorcerer carefully checked Laine’s wound, complaining: ”Are you planning to pacify me with sweet words from start to finish? I’m not like Amelia that little girl, a few compliments can delight her for days.”

”Miss Teresa, sweet words should be person-specific, evidently, facing you, I instinctively speak my true heart. I’m a knight, honesty is a virtue.” Laine continued to smile: ”And you made it easy for me to uphold this virtue, you are simply my lucky star.”

”...” Teresa’s expression changed several times before she finally leaned down with helplessness: ”You’ve truly beaten me.”

Cold lips pressed against Laine’s, the room fell silent again, leaving only the sound of entangled breaths.

”Knock knock~” A few minutes later, the door knocked again: ”Darling? May I come in?”

”Please do!”

Veronica wearing a pure black dress pushed the door open, she noticed Teresa’s flushed face, adjusting the creases on her dress, the Jialan Witch chuckled with interest: ”Hahaha~ Looks like I interrupted something, Trovik, maybe I should retreat, give you both five more minutes?”

”Veronica!” Laine shouted in displeasure: ”Now that you’ve come up, I want to make you understand!”

”That’s not possible, dear, Lady Surya and both Trovik and I emphasized that with your injuries, we shouldn’t stay overnight with you.” Veronica quickly shook her head, gave Laine a peck on the cheek: ”But clearly someone wants to sneak a taste.”

”No way, I just feared Laine would be lonely and came to chat.” Teresa looked outwardly composed, neatening her attire: ”You must have some news, right?”

”Good news indeed, Laine, haven’t you been saying you need proper materials to craft a fitting axe for brother Angerong?” Veronica still wore her smiling face, leaning on Laine’s shoulder: ”Now we have.”

”Vibranium?” Laine’s interest piqued: ”You found Vibranium?”

Because not only does Angerong lack a suitable weapon, but his Warhammer also broke, and he needs a new one.

Laine too needs Vibranium.

”Yes, we found lots of Vibranium in the barbarian camps, and... dear, can you guess where else has Vibranium?” Veronica teased while keeping him guessing.

”Could it be...?”
