Warhammer Divine Throne

Just as Egil led his army to breach Leonais Castle, outside, the reinforcements led by Laine were engaging in battle with an Undead Army.

Over twenty thousand zombies and skeleton warriors suddenly appeared in the wilderness of Musillon, halting the reinforcements of over ten thousand led by Laine midway to aid Leonais Castle. Under the control of an Undead Mage, the zombies and skeletons clashed with Laine’s knight army.

The knight army’s assault was overwhelming, and wherever Veronica’s Flaming Skull passed, all the corpses turned to ashes. Duke Hubert led the knights in a furious charge, quickly breaking the Undead Army.

”Strange, why are these undead blocking us? They clearly can’t defeat us.” Surya said to Laine: ”We only wish to aid Leonais.”

”It is precisely because of this that the undead are stopping us.” Laine frowned: ”The undead do not want to see Leonais utterly destroyed, because the dead wish to rule the living, but the undead also do not want us to defeat the Barbarian army before Leonais falls, as this would make it difficult for them to interfere in Leonais affairs.”

The Count’s gaze probed the depths of the Undead Army’s ranks, and sure enough, he saw the vague figure of Mathew Bade.

”Duke, we can’t stop this army.” A Black Chalice Knight said to Mathew Bade.

A few days ago, Mathew Bade officially declared himself the Duke of Musillon, and Richard made a strong protest, but Brittania had been engulfed in internal chaos recently and had no time to deal with it.

”It doesn’t matter, if we can’t stop them, we can’t stop them; our only goal is to delay their arrival at Leonais.” Mathew Bade’s strength and state were now completely different. Clad in black armor, his youthful and handsome face was hidden within his helmet, and his family’s crest had turned into a golden serpent on a black background.

The Vampire no longer dared to confront Laine directly, having been thoroughly intimidated, so Mathew Bade devised this plan, gathering a large number of low-grade soldiers to stall Laine’s reinforcements to Leonais.

Of course, Mathew Bade also knew that Leonais had been invaded by the Northern Barbarians. The Duke of Musillon attempted to send envoys to approach Egil, hoping to negotiate and cooperate to destroy Leonais, allowing the Barbarians to take whatever they desired, while the land and countless graves and corpses would belong to the Vampires.

Egil swiftly cleaved the envoy sent by Mathew Bade in two with an axe.

”The Champion of Khorne is indeed powerful, but they are all less terrifying than Laine Macado!” Mathew Bade recalled the loss of a large group of Blood Knights and over ten thousand elite Vampire troops, feeling a chill in his heart: ”We must stop Laine here and consume his time!”

”Yes!”

On the other side, Laine was also issuing orders: ”We must defeat the Undead Army within two hours, or else Leonais will fall! Accelerate the attack!”

”Yes!”

......

King of Skalings’ decision stirred up a storm, with his courtiers, attendants, and many Chaos Champions disagreeing with Egil’s viewpoint. Such a great war should not be decided by a champion duel.

Egil insisted nonetheless, and no one dared to defy the Chief’s will.

The challenge letter from the Champion of Khorne was delivered into the Inner Castle, before Dalheid.

At this moment, an argument was still erupting within the Inner Castle, with knights fiercely debating how to deal with Elizabeth and the tribal son within her belly. Elizabeth had already been imprisoned in an iron cage, with various sacred Lake God Curse Seals pasted outside. Lake God Prophet Anara had inscribed a Divine Art seal on Elizabeth’s tongue, rendering her unable to speak or cast spells.

”We should kill her immediately; she carries an abomination within her! You all know how filthy this child is; how can we turn a blind eye?” Aldred, the Duke’s son, roared at everyone: ”His birth will be a disaster!”

”Aldred, calm down. Have you forgotten what the Knightly Path’s oaths are? The fourth is we never harm women and children.” Another Holy Grail Knight said painfully: ”We cannot break the Lady’s oaths.”

”She is a Chaos Mutant, carrying a Dark Son in her womb; the Knightly Path does not apply to her!” Aldred pointed to Elizabeth inside the iron cage and then questioned the Holy Grail Knight Commander Jules and his father, Duke Dalheid: ”The Knightly Path does not apply to the Northern Barbarians and all the outsiders! These rules are meant for our fellow humans!”

”But Elizabeth is a noble of Brittania, Aldred!” Dalheid sighed, covering his forehead: ”Whether to execute her, we need to consult Her Highness Mogiana, His Majesty Richard, or the Lady, but...”

From outside the Inner Castle, an earth-shattering roar was heard.

”Brittania people! Come out and duel!”

Duke of Dalheid leaned painfully against his ducal seat. Now, with the castle fallen and the Inner Castle in chaos, the knights’ morale was low, incapable of withstanding the Barbarians. He could only turn his gaze to Holy Grail Knight Commander Jules.

Jules slowly nodded to Dalheid.

Silence fell upon the inner court of the Inner Castle.

Ten minutes later, Egil, who was challenging below the castle, finally received a reply as Duke Dalheid, supported by attendants, came to the top of the city wall: ”I accept your champion duel invitation, but we require a day to prepare!”
