Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 651: Chapter 442: Giant Beast in the Eyes of a Giant Beast?

”Ah?”

”What?”

Wang Lei and Zhao Xiaochuan were immediately taken aback, as if stepping on lava, they jumped three feet high and leaped back into the room.

”Alive...alive?” Wang Lei was the most shocked. He had been moving on this soft ground for who knows how long, but had never thought of the ground being alive in such a way.

Wen Guixin wasn’t scared. She glanced at him speechlessly: ”What are you afraid of? We’ve all fallen on this before. If something was going to happen, it would have already happened.”

As she spoke, she stepped on it a couple of times, then crouched down and touched the ground with her hand.

”How is it?” Xu Xin asked.

He knew that Wen Guixin could infect organisms with toxins. So, just through contact, she could tell if what she touched was a living being and whether it could be infected.

Wen Guixin stood up, glanced around, and slowly nodded: ”It seems correct. This soft ground we’re standing on is part of a big creature’s body! It’s alive!”

”Holy crap!”

”Oh my god!”

Wang Lei and Zhao Xiaochuan were once again shocked.

Xu Xin exhaled slowly.

Damn it, his suspicion was right.

This was a bit too terrifying, wasn’t it?

You have to know, the size of just this part of the creature exposed to them was already ridiculously enormous!

You have to know, even if a giant beast fell into a trap, it would land in this area and be captured into the prison!

If the giant beasts outside were unimaginably large for them as survivors...

Then the creature beneath their feet would be unimaginably large even for the giant beasts!

It could be said to be a beast in the eyes of other beasts!

”This... How do you know? Just by stepping, you figured out it’s alive?” Wang Lei looked at the massive area of the ground, stepped on it twice again, hurriedly withdrew his foot, swallowed a mouthful of saliva, and asked Wen Guixin.

”My toxin can infect this creature,” she said, stepping on the soft ground beneath her feet.

Even Xu Xin widened his eyes this time: ”You can...control the creature beneath us?”

”What are you thinking? How could I be that powerful?” Wen Guixin immediately shook her head. ”What I mean is that my toxin can quickly invade this ’ground’ under my control, so it’s definitely alive. However...”

She surveyed the soft ground around her and said, ”If given time, as long as this big guy doesn’t resist, maybe I really could control it.”

”...How long?”

”Hmm...two weeks?” Wen Guixin pondered a bit and then smiled.

Xu Xin: ”...Two weeks could be doable.”

”Haha, anyway, it’s still possible.” Wen Guixin stepped on the ground again and smiled.

”If we stay here for two weeks, we might just turn to dust,” Wang Lei teased.

Xu Xin shook his head: ”Okay, since it’s so dangerous here, let’s quickly go up. See if there’s a way to get out of this prison.”

Indeed, up till now, he still hadn’t found a way to escape this prison.

He could only pin his hopes on that control room.

”Quick, quick, quick! I don’t want to tread on a big creature’s body!” Zhao Xiaochuan and Wang Lei ran quickly.

The few of them arrived at the gravity mechanism and immediately triggered it, ascending to the topmost level of the prison.

At this moment, Wen Guixin and Zhao Xiaochuan also saw the corpses of the furry humanoid creatures sprawled on the ground.

”These guys were really poisoned to death by me.” Wen Guixin kicked two of the corpses over, face up, crouched down, and looked closely, ”Do you think they have any relation to those furry humanoids we encountered earlier?”

”There must be some relation, right?” Wang Lei speculated, ”They’re all furry humanoids and are related to our activities. They are obviously linked to that mysterious voice in our heads.”

”They must be part of the same group, and their base might indeed be this underground world,” Zhao Xiaochuan also speculated.

The group continued walking, maneuvering through a narrow passageway, and stepped into the control room.

”Is this the control room?”

”There’s even a big screen!”

Zhao Xiaochuan and Wen Guixin were exploring around, touching and looking at everything.

Xu Xin examined the room.

There were no changes in the control room, nor did any new furry humanoids appear.

The secret door leading to the prison passageway wasn’t closed, still remaining open.

The prison bars were also raised.

He stepped outside.

In the underground prison, the nearby creatures were very quiet. Even when Xu Xin approached them and tapped the bars of the cages, they made no sound and even retreated a couple of steps.

It seemed they harbored some fear of people emerging from the passageway.

It appeared there was some method to restrain and punish the creatures in the prison, making them so afraid.

”Does this underground prison actually have so many cells?” The other three also stepped out of the control room and took a look around.

The creatures inside the cages tensed up even more.

”Would you like to take a stroll around this underground prison and have a look?” Xu Xin suggested to the three of them.

Perhaps they would discover some details he missed.

”Alright, let’s take a walk then.”

”Ah, you three better not separate. Although the chances are slim, there’s still some danger around here,” Xu Xin advised.

”Don’t worry, Brother Xin,” Zhao Xiaochuan said, ”we won’t act like those horror movie protagonist teams who split up for ’efficiency.’”

”So, Brother Xin, are you going to split from us?” Wang Lei joked.

Xu Xin chuckled: ”You punk... you all go. I’ve already explored once and found no useful information. Besides, someone needs to stay in the control room. If the control room door closes, we truly won’t be able to get out. Try to be quick.”

”Got it, Brother Xin, we’re leaving.”

”Quick, I want to see how exaggerated the detained beasts are.”

The three of them appeared to be heading towards the cell where Zhao Xiaochuan was held, while Xu Xin returned to the control room.

”Yip!” Keke jumped onto a control panel, fiddling and pawing at everything.

”Don’t randomly press those buttons!” Xu Xin quickly warned, fearing it might press something strange.

”Yip!” Keke responded, jumping off the control panel.

Xu Xin began to carefully study the machinery here.

The door to the control room was opened by Wang Lei using a mechanism on the door.

Beside the door were two buttons, one red and one green, which should be the buttons to open and close the metal bars of the empty cage outside.

Xu Xin pressed the red button behind him.

”Clack!”

The cage outside made a crisp sound, and then the metal bars immediately descended, plunging into the row of holes on the ground, sealing the cage.

He pressed the green button again, and the cage immediately rose.

”Green is up, red is down...” He turned his head to look at the pile of mechanical control consoles.

Various buttons of different sizes and shapes were on top, but they all had red and green buttons.

This should be the button to open and close the cages, right?

Unfortunately, knowing this didn’t seem to help, and he didn’t even know which control consoles corresponded to the doors of which cells.

He turned his head and looked at the screen embedded in the wall, like a treehouse screen.

The screen was large, even larger than his treehouse screen.

Maybe this screen could also control the cell, but...

He had no way to control it.

Wait a minute...

He seemed to have fallen into a misconception.

The treehouse screen could indeed be controlled by the owner, and guests touching it wouldn’t get a response. But that was because the whole treehouse belonged to one person.

But here was a control room that required many people to operate.

Then this screen...

Could it be just a typical one that needs a switch to activate?

Xu Xin immediately started looking for a switch around the screen.

In the end, there was nothing, the surroundings of the screen were very smooth, and he couldn’t find anything after feeling it all over.

Just as he was disappointed, thinking he guessed wrong, the screen suddenly lit up.

”Ying!” Before he could react, Keke’s voice came from behind him.

He turned around to see Keke sitting on the nearest control console to the screen, pressing a button with her little paw.

...Keke actually found the screen’s switch!

Xu Xin walked over, picked Keke off the console, and examined the console.

It was not much different from the other consoles, with some incomprehensible buttons that didn’t provide any hints when touched; the only difference was the button Keke pressed.

This button wasn’t on any of the other consoles.

”You little one, you dare to press it, huh!” Xu Xin rubbed Keke’s little head vigorously, ”But, good job!”

”Ying!” Keke called out proudly.

He really wouldn’t have dared to press such a special button; if Keke hadn’t already pressed it, he’d always feel it was something like a self-destruct for the prison, the button that should never be pressed.

”Don’t mess around like this from now on. What if it’s a dangerous button!”

”Ying...” Keke’s little head hung low.

Xu Xin turned to look at the screen.

By now, the screen was fully activated.

The screen displayed a three-dimensional line perspective map of the entire prison, including the open space outside.

The entire perspective map was slowly rotating.

He saw that in most of the cells, red light spots were displayed, and the spots became denser and brighter from top to bottom.

These red light spots represented the underground creatures in the cages.

And in the passage, three green light spots were moving. And his green light spot was also in the control room.

The green light spots represented the survivors.

It was somewhat similar to his map ability.

As for the surrounding areas, that is, the trap space, there were no light spots at all, meaning no creatures had fallen into the trap space.

This was normal, after all, the underground creatures outside, including the giant beasts, now no longer approached this vine bundle.

Naturally, no creatures would fall into it anymore.

However...

”You little one, don’t you have a light spot either?”

Xu Xin glanced at Keke, who had already climbed onto his shoulder and was curiously eyeing the screen.

”Ying?” Keke tilted her head, blinking innocently at him.

Forget it, this little one has always been so mysterious.

However, it’s a pity, Ji Chaoyang and Lou Fei’Er are not in the prison.

They haven’t arrived yet.

Xu Xin reached out and swiped the screen, the three-dimensional perspective map of the underground prison slowly rotated with his swipe.

He thought about it and tapped on the cell next to his position where bugs were held.

However, it was useless.

No mechanical sound was heard outside the door either.

Alright, it seems this perspective map cannot control the opening of the cells.

Could this screen just be a basic monitor?

He casually clicked on the trap space outside the prison.

The result brought an unexpected outcome!

”Boom!”

At the moment he clicked, the entire prison suddenly shook!

”What’s going on?!”

”Ying!”
