Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 693: Chapter 459: Encountering Xue Lan Again (5000 words)_2

Then, there was a sudden brightness in front of his eyes.

In front of him was a small prison, similar in size to the lowest level of the main underground prison for survivors, and inside the prison...

A lavishly dressed female stone statue was gripping the metal bars of the prison, looking outwards.

This stone statue, Xu Xin was all too familiar with!

”Xu Xin?! Is it really you!” Seeing Xu Xin, Xue Lan’s eyes flashed with a hint of red light, her expression instantly became joyful, and she tightly clutched the bars, ”You... how did you end up here!”

Although she had only met Xu Xin once and had only spent a few hours together, Xu Xin was the one who rescued her family from underground, so she remembered it clearly.

Xu Xin also smiled.

Ji Chaoyang’s prediction was correct!

”Finally found you, Chang Yin told us to get you out.”

He immediately walked to the outside of the prison and spoke to Xue Lan inside.

”Whimper!” Although Keke was very tired, she still waved her little paw and greeted.

”Have you seen Chang Yin?!” Upon hearing Xu Xin’s words, Xue Lan suddenly became a little excited, ”How is he now? What about Xiaohong, is Xiaohong with him?”

Xu Xin looked at her and then slightly furrowed his brows.

He...

Why couldn’t he hear Xue Lan’s inner thoughts?

Isn’t Xue Lan a native creature of this world?

Or is it that stone statue creatures can’t actually be considered normal beings, so he can’t hear them at all?

Seeing Xu Xin frown slightly while staring at her, Xue Lan’s excitement gradually calmed down, and she explained apologetically, ”Sorry, I got too excited. I’ve been imprisoned here, without day or night, unable to feel the passage of time, and I don’t even know how long I’ve been captive. Just hearing this little one’s voice made me think of you; I didn’t expect it to really be you.”

Her voice carried a hint of fatigue.

Even more exhausted than how Chang Yin felt.

Chang Yin had explained that their Spiritual Power wasn’t strong, and after being awake for a long time, they must enter a longer rest period to replenish their depleted Spiritual Power.

Clearly, in this underground prison, Xue Lan’s Spiritual Power was severely depleted.

”Whimper.” Keke raised her little head and whimpered.

”...You misunderstood, I was just thinking about other things related to my own abilities.”

Xu Xin casually explained, trying again to use his subjective consciousness to read Xue Lan’s inner thoughts.

But he wasn’t successful.

It seemed indeed that Xue Lan’s thoughts couldn’t be read.

”Then...” A hint of urgency appeared on Xue Lan’s face, ”About Chang Yin...”

”Wait, stretch out your hand, I’ll try to see if I can bring you into my bracelet and take you out.” Xu Xin pointed to the bracelet on his right hand.

The cage here, though also of a golden grade, was different from the others, named [Branch Prison], which sounded lesser than the main prison, so perhaps it could directly bring someone out.

”Is this bracelet... all right!” Xue Lan recognized it as the bracelet made by Chang Yin, showing a truly joyful expression, and immediately trusting Xu Xin had indeed met Chang Yin, she stretched out her hand halfway.

Xu Xin touched her hand and then shook his head disappointedly, ”It doesn’t work; I can’t bring you out. I must find a way to open the cell door. Do you have any clues?”

Xue Lan also showed some disappointment, then shook her head, ”No, I was brought here by four hairy monkeys. At that time, the door of this prison was open; they directly pushed me into this cell door, and before I could stand up, the door immediately closed. I didn’t see how they operated it.”

Hairy monkeys...

No wonder they’re a couple; even the term for these furry creatures is the same.

But speaking of, this cell door, it won’t, won’t open?

”Well,” Xue Lan spoke again with a pleading tone, ”Could you tell me about Chang Yin and Xiaohong?”

”Oh, oh... alright.”

Xu Xin briefly recounted his experiences upon coming to this underground world and Chang Yin’s current situation.

At the same time, he moved around here and touched, observing the surroundings.

Here, was already the end of this passage.

The end of this winding passage contained only this single prison holding Xue Lan.

Besides this, there were no other prisons.

He looked at Xue Lan with some sympathy.

One person, imprisoned in an underground prison within the underground world, accompanied only by darkness and solitude every day, even unable to know how long they’ve been imprisoned, only able to wait silently in the dark.

If it were an ordinary person, they might have gone insane long ago.

”So that’s how it is...” Xue Lan murmured, ”Fortunately, Chang Yin is unharmed, but Xiaohong...”

Upon receiving information that Chang Yin was safe, her expression visibly relaxed somewhat, but the concern for Xiaohong still lingered in her brows.

Even though it was a stone face, her expressions were still very detailed.

”There’s no need to worry about Xiaohong. Since the Blood Pattern Race needs Chang Yin’s abilities, using you as a constraint, they won’t do anything to Xiaohong.” Xu Xin comforted her while searching everywhere for a mechanism to open the cell door.

”That’s good...” Xue Lan slowly sat by the prison bars, hugging her legs.
