Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 657: Chapter 446 This Voice Couldn’t Be... (4200-Word Chapter)

”So, I’ve finished telling my story. Can you guys now tell me about the situation here?” Lou Fei’Er looked down from the topmost layer of the prison. ”What exactly is this structure that looks like a metallic rod? And just now, why was the ground below so soft?”

”This is a long story.” Xu Xin glanced downwards. ”Let’s go down to check the cages holding the survivors. Maybe we’ll discover something.”

”Huh? Why do we have to go back again?” The others felt a bit puzzled.

Xu Xin shared his assumptions about the cages with everyone.

”Should we all be locked up in the prison...” Wen Guixin nodded. ”Indeed, Fei’Er’s experience does further confirm this assumption. However, if you’re hoping to find something in the cell, you might be disappointed. I was very meticulous in checking everywhere at the time, even examining the cracks in the walls. There’s really nothing in that cell.”

”True.” Zhao Xiaochuan nodded. ”Indeed, there was nothing in there, and even the beds and toilets were made of metal, which our steel weapons couldn’t destroy.”

”So strong?” Wang Lei widened his eyes. ”Even the toilet is... gold-grade?”

Gold-grade toilets are indeed much more luxurious, but compared to the half prison made of gold-grade metal, they are just minor details.

”Let’s go check it out.” Xu Xin felt it was more appropriate to take another look. ”Those were just your two cells. There might be something in the other cells.”

Regarding those control panels full of buttons...

He couldn’t shake off the feeling that they were very dangerous.

It was just a gut feeling.

Would this prison allow survivors to easily manipulate the control panel?

If they did press it, would nothing go wrong?

After all, on the map, they were all marked in completely different green colors, completely set apart.

Among those present, only Keke was not recognized, as she was now dozing off.

The control panel should be used only as a last resort.

”Yes, let’s go take a look.” Wen Guixin nodded in agreement.

”What... are you guys talking about...” Lou Fei’Er had a head full of questions.

”It’s like this...” The others began explaining the events that had occurred in the underground prison as they stepped onto the elevator and descended to the very bottom again.

Standing on the soft ground, Lou Fei’Er felt herself hesitant to walk normally. She lightly tapped the soft ground with her foot, incredulous, and said, ”Are we really stepping on some biological entity right now?”

”That’s right. That uncomfortable feeling is actually caused by its cries,” Xu Xin explained. ”It’s also its cries that scared away the giant tiger, allowing you to be saved.”

”...That’s too...” Lou Fei’Er fell silent, digesting the overwhelming information.

Soon, they arrived at where the mechanism was originally located.

”Huh? The entrance should be around here, right? Did the mechanism close by itself?” Wang Lei wondered in surprise. ”We didn’t close the door when we left, right?”

At this point, there was no sign of an entrance on the metallic wall.

The mechanism’s location was undeterminable, so Xu Xin patted the small head of the dozing Keke in his arms: ”Keke, help us find the mechanism.”

”Huh...?” Keke opened her eyes in confusion.

Xu Xin repeated his request, and Keke rubbed her eyes with one paw, while pointing at a spot on the wall with the other before letting her paw and head droop down again.

Wang Lei immediately stepped forward and activated the mechanism.

”Clack clack clack...”

The sound of the mechanism echoed, the ground shook.

”So sleepy?” Xu Xin held Keke in his arms.

”Huh...” Keke weakly whimpered and slowly closed her eyes again.

The mechanism’s door was opened.

”So this is how it’s opened.” Wen Guixin and Zhao Xiaochuan witnessed the opening method for the first time, somewhat surprised.

In the spacious hall, there were cells numbered from one to ten on each side.

At this moment, the first and second cell doors they had opened before had also closed.

Xu Xin couldn’t help but furrow his brow.

The hidden mechanism doors as well as the cell doors...

Did these doors close by themselves?

Or is there...

Some unidentified creature still active here?

He surveyed the surroundings.

Aside from those twenty numbers, there really was nothing else.

”Let’s open all these twenty cell doors.”

The four of them walked to different numbered doors to open them, while Lou Fei’Er, unsure of what to do, could only follow Xu Xin.

”Just touch the number.” Xu Xin walked to the cell numbered three and demonstrated to her.

Very easily, the room door was opened.

”So this is how it’s opened.” Lou Fei’Er understood and went to help open the doors.

One by one, the hidden doors of the cells were opened.

Open them all first, then explore each one.

Just as Xu Xin opened the third door, Keke suddenly moved in his arms.

”Huh...? Huh!”

Keke suddenly lifted her head from his arms, cried out, and jumped onto the ground.

However, instead of entering the newly opened cell, she stood up and looked towards the entrance they had opened.

”What’s wrong, Keke?” Xu Xin was also startled by Keke’s actions and followed her gaze.
