Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 694: 459 Chapter: Meeting Xue Lan Again (5000 Words)_3

”Hey, so you’ve been imprisoned here, why not, um, just... fall asleep?”

Xu Xin asked curiously as he searched for a possible mechanism.

Just like Xiaohong inside the treasure chest monster, falling asleep straight away, avoiding all this suffering.

”... Falling asleep requires special conditions to wake up,” Xue Lan explained softly. ”If I fall asleep, I won’t know when I’ll wake up again. Changyin and Xiaohong are both missing, I... I can’t fall asleep.”

She said with a smile, ”Luckily, my perseverance was effective, I waited for someone to rescue me. To be honest, relaxing now makes me want to fall asleep a bit.”

Her words carried an increasing sense of fatigue.

”I see...”

Her fear was indeed justified.

Xiaohong was hard to wake up at first, and the timing of his awakening was strange.

Though not sure how they’d awaken, falling asleep underground could lead to eternal slumber, never waking again.

Xu Xin looked around, then patted Keke, who was dozing off on his shoulder, ”Help me look around, see if there’s any mechanism to open the prison.”

After searching for so long, he found nothing.

”Ee...” Keke raised its head, looked around, and jumped down from Xu Xin’s shoulder, quickly running to the corner.

”Ee!” Keke pointed at the corner, looked up, and tilted its head, ”Ee?”

The corner?

Xu Xin walked over.

”Oh,” Xue Lan suddenly covered her mouth and exclaimed, ”That spot... maybe the switch is there!”

”Oh? You know where the switch is?” Xu Xin looked back at her.

She nodded, ”I think so, I remember when I was shoved into the cell, and the cell door closed, there seemed to be a ’click’ sound from that direction, now that I think about it, it might be... the sound of the switch.”

She hadn’t paid much attention to that strange sound before, but seeing Keke and Xu Xin go over there, it reminded her of it, and she linked that sound to the cell’s switch.

Mechanism?

Xu Xin reached out to touch the corner of the wall.

He had already explored here, finding nothing.

”The sound probably came from above,” Xue Lan pointed to a spot above the corner, three or four meters high. ”The one who brought me... um, among the fluffy monsters, one was very tall, over three meters in height, with long arms capable of reaching over four meters, maybe the mechanism is up there?”

Above?

Xu Xin looked up.

The height here was about four meters.

He hadn’t actually checked up there.

”Ee!” Keke raised its little head, ”Ee ee ee!”

It waved its little paw, indicating it was up there.

Xu Xin took a light step, easily leaping two meters, reaching to press the corner of the wall.

”Click!”

It could be pressed!

The corner of the metal room’s wall easily slid diagonally as he pressed it!

Then, he heard the sound of the mechanism and metal scraping behind him.

”Ee ee!”

”Clack.” Xu Xin landed and turned, seeing the cell behind him was already open, with Xue Lan stepping out joyfully.

”Finally out!” Her voice carried a hint of sobbing, ”Are we going to see Changyin now?”

Xu Xin nodded, ”Yes, we’re going to see Changyin. You know you might face danger outside, so I’ll store you in the bracelet first. There’s someone there you can talk to about the details.”

Xue Lan nodded, ”Sure, store me inside.”

She completely trusted Xu Xin now.

Storing Xue Lan in the bracelet, Xu Xin took another look inside the cell.

Nothing, just a square cell, without even a bed.

Truly bare.

Relying on his jump power, he checked all around the ceiling.

There were no other mechanisms.

Glancing at the pressed corner, Xu Xin thought for a moment.

Based on what Xue Lan just said, it could be deduced that the one who pressed the switch was a three-meter-tall fluffy monster.

Three meters tall...

Isn’t that the same kind Lou Fei’Er encountered?

It seems to be a type of fluffy monster.

He looked around.

Besides Xue Lan, there was nothing else in this underground cell.

It was time to go up.

”Let’s go, Keke, we’re heading up.”

”Ee!” Upon hearing this, Keke immediately climbed onto his shoulder.

”Why not run by yourself?” Xu Xin laughed.

”Ee...” Keke nuzzled against Xu Xin’s face.

With Keke, Xu Xin made his way back.

He encountered nothing on the way up, and soon reached the surface above.

Emerging from the ground, he raised his eyebrows slightly at the scenery outside.

The vine branches here had completely vanished, and the surrounding ground looked as chaotic as a farmland dug up by pigs, with many underground creatures scared away by giant snakes returning.

”Good... food...”

”Sleep...”

”What is that...”

These were the thoughts of giant insects, reaching his ears.

The most crucial part was, at this moment, only one vine remained in the sky.

That was the second vine Wen Guixin was responsible for; the cell on that side hadn’t been opened.

It’s normal; after opening the first underground cell, she must explore underground, only after finishing exploration could she head to the other side.

If her exploration speed matched Xu Xin’s, she should be out by now, heading to the second vine.

He touched the bracelet, considering releasing Xue Lan to see if she attracted the surrounding creatures’ attention.

But at that moment, something happened.

From the west of the main vine, a bright flare rose slowly, accompanied by dense red smoke.

Then it suddenly exploded, filling the sky with white sparks!

...!

Something’s happening over there!

Could it be that they’ve found Xiaohong?
