Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 650: Chapter 441 Prison Speculation: Is It Really Alive?

Inside the door, it was not as they had imagined, directly entering the prison holding the survivors on the lower level.

Instead, it was a space similar to a hall, covering nearly two hundred square meters.

This pillar-like prison covers a diameter of nearly a hundred meters, which doesn’t sound big, but if you calculate the area covered, it’s around eight thousand square meters.

So, having a hall of two hundred square meters is quite normal.

”What is this place?” Wang Lei walked inside, stepping onto the metal floor in this area, stomping his foot, ”Ha, finally it’s not soft!”

”Eek!” Keke immediately jumped off Xu Xin’s shoulder and darted into the room.

Xu Xin turned to look outside and then stepped in.

”Inside this room... huh, what are those numbers on the walls?” Wang Lei curiously walked over.

This room was very empty, with no facilities, but on the walls on the left and right sides, there were two rows of numbers written.

Arranged in odd and even numbers on either side.

The left side had one, three, five, seven, nine...

The right side had two, four, six, eight, ten...

There were ten numbers on each side, a total of twenty numbers.

Xu Xin raised his eyebrows.

Although there were no doors, only numbered white paint, he understood.

These were probably the prison numbers for holding Zhao Xiaochuan and Wen Guixin.

There were ten cells on Zhao Xiaochuan’s side, and ten on Wen Guixin’s side, the numbers matched.

Moreover, he now understood why Zhao Xiaochuan and Wen Guixin were separately held on two sides of the prison.

Because cell number one and two were split between both sides.

Xu Xin first walked to number one.

By then, Keke had been standing there for a while, and upon seeing Xu Xin approach, immediately looked up and whimpered, tapping the wall with its little paw.

Xu Xin reached to touch number one, which was level with his chest.

[Survivor Jail Mechanism (Gold): Can open the secret hidden door of the survivor jail.]

Xu Xin immediately pressed it.

This time, he didn’t need Wang Lei’s help; he could press it himself.

”Ka!”

A seam in the shape of a door appeared on the originally seamless smooth wall and gradually widened.

Then, the entire door slowly opened inward.

”There’s a mechanism here too!” Wang Lei quickly ran over.

”Whoa! What the heck?!” Inside the door, Zhao Xiaochuan’s exclamation was heard, ”Wang Lei? Is that Wang Lei?”

He had heard Wang Lei’s earlier shout.

”Zhao Xiaochuan? Are you inside?” Wang Lei immediately shouted towards the crack in the door.

”Damn, it’s really you!”

”Eek!” Keke also made a sound towards the inside.

”Keke? Is Brother Xin outside too?”

The door slowly opened, Zhao Xiaochuan was standing behind it, eyes widened, watching the door slowly open outward.

”Damn, there’s actually another door here? How is this so extravagant?!” Zhao Xiaochuan was dumbfounded, then looked at Xu Xin, ”Was it really Brother Xin who saved me!”

He had been waiting for Xu Xin to come again, to open the prison door and release him, so he had been watching outside the cell.

But then suddenly a ka sound came from behind him, giving him a big scare!

Who would have thought the exit to the cell was not at the metal bars, but on the metal wall!

”Alright, come out quickly.” Xu Xin glanced inside the prison.

Because of Wang Lei and Zhao Xiaochuan’s shouting, the beasts in the prison were disturbed, chaos started again, with beast roars and insect noises mixed together, making it quite irritating.

”Oh oh oh.” Zhao Xiaochuan immediately took two steps out, ”Ah, I’m finally out! I didn’t expect you to be here too!”

He raised his hand to pat Wang Lei on the shoulder, ”I didn’t expect! You actually made it here!”

”Of course! If it wasn’t for me, Brother Xin wouldn’t have found this path to save you.” Wang Lei looked proud, ”Moreover, opening this place requires a lot of strength, Brother Xin couldn’t do it alone.”

”What do you mean...?” Zhao Xiaochuan looked a bit puzzled, glanced around, ”Where is this place?”

While they were talking, Xu Xin had already arrived in front of number two.

The jail holding Wen Guixin should be this one right?

It seemed correct from the location, as Wen Guixin’s cell was also located in the first one on that side.

”Eek!” Keke ran over and tapped the metal wall, indicating it’s correct.

Xu Xin nodded, reached out to touch number two.

After a ”ka” sound, this hidden door was also opened.

The door slowly opened.

Then, from the gap of the hidden door, a dagger suddenly swung out!

Fortunately, Xu Xin immediately sidestepped to avoid it, ”Don’t attack, it’s me!”

”Ah?” Wen Guixin’s surprised voice came from inside, ”Xu Xin? I thought those people who transported me were coming, how did you find this hidden door?!”

The people carrying you were long wiped out by your toxins.

Xu Xin thought of the scene he had just witnessed and couldn’t help but feel a pang of sorrow for them.

How pitiful those furry folks were.

Wen Guixin stepped out from the door: ”Finally out, thank you Xu Xin. This time, it’s truly embarrassing, being captured as soon as I arrived. Where are the people who captured me? I want to kill them!”

A trace of annoyance and murderous intent played across her face.

”Huh? Sister Gui Xin is here too?” Zhao Xiaochuan also approached.

”Haha, you should thank me this time. If it weren’t for me, Brother Xin wouldn’t have found a way to release you!” Wang Lei approached, laughing heartily.

”Wang Lei? You’re here too?” Wen Guixin blinked and then clapped her hands, ”I get it. You were also locked in the cage and just got rescued, right?”

”What! I’m the hero who got you out!” Wang Lei wanted to explain but scratched his head, unsure of what to say, so he turned to Xu Xin, ”Brother Xin, quickly explain it to them!”

”It’s like this...”

Xu Xin did not rush everyone outside but recounted all he had experienced to the three present.

Including everything that happened after he came down from the center of the vine bundle and his guesses.

”Ah, this...” Wen Guixin’s expression was somewhat odd, ”So, the guys who locked me up here are all dead by now?”

”That seems to be the case,” Xu Xin glanced at Wang Lei, ”Otherwise, Wang Lei would also be locked up in the cage just like you.”

”So aside from Brother Xin, the other three here...” Zhao Xiaochuan pointed at himself, Wang Lei, and Wen Guixin, ”all fell into traps? Isn’t that chance a bit too much...”

”I was careless...” Wen Guixin wanted to argue a bit but ultimately bowed her head in a bit of dejection, ”Alright, how was I supposed to know there’d be such a large area of traps near the vine bundle.”

Xu Xin picked up Keke standing on the ground, stroking her little head: ”Honestly, if it hadn’t been for Keke, I wouldn’t have thought there’d be hidden traps underground near the vine bundle.”

”Hmm!” Keke raised her little head and called out proudly.

”Moreover...” he glanced outside the room, towards the trap space, ”if not for Wen Guixin’s powers coming into play, not only would Wang Lei be locked in the cage, I wouldn’t be so free in the prison passage either.”

Indeed.

Thinking back, the moment he fell into this prison, there was no longer any manager here.

He was merely wandering in a prison that had lost all functions.

If managers were still here, could he truly find a way out?

And not be subdued, then locked in prison?

”Say, if Sister Gui Xin hadn’t been in this situation...” Wang Lei voiced the guess Xu Xin was considering, ”would all of us who came possibly be locked in prison?”

That’s exactly what he thought too.

Perhaps, everyone being locked up was the right procedure.

”Ah?” Zhao Xiaochuan was a bit dazed, ”Locked in prison, isn’t that completely doomed?”

”No,” Xu Xin replied, ”Perhaps... that’s when this ’game’ starts. We get some information from the managers and do some tasks for them. For instance...”

He pointed upward, indicating the prison, ”They might want us to fill up the underground prison.”

”Fill up the underground prison?” The remaining few looked at each other.

After all, although Xu Xin roughly explained his prison passage experience, none of them had ventured into the underground prison yet, nor seen those vacant cells or imprisoned beasts.

So, they didn’t quite understand Xu Xin’s words.

”It’s just my guess. In short, the managers are completely gone; now, we can only explore this prison by ourselves.” Xu Xin stroked Keke’s little head, ”Keke, besides the secret door to the survivor prison, are there any other exits in this room?”

”Hmm.” Keke shook her head, indicating no.

Xu Xin began to ponder.

Is this emergency room established solely for releasing survivors?

”We might only know once we go up to explore, right? So, there are four people gathered here now, where are the other two?” Wen Guixin voiced her thoughts.

They had six people entering this underground world, and now, four had met in the prison, but Ji Chaoyang and Lou Fei’Er were still missing.

”Those two have yet to be heard from,” Xu Xin replied.

He also felt a bit odd about this matter.

Lou Fei’Er’s absence was quite normal. According to his speculation, Lou Fei’Er’s situation was extremely perilous; surviving was already a success.

But Ji Chaoyang’s delay was a bit strange.

Logically, since both he and Wang Lei arrived, Ji Chaoyang should be near as well.

Unless he didn’t head towards the vine bundle or encountered big trouble along the way, or perhaps...

Xu Xin glanced outside the room.

Or perhaps he was already here, having entered the vine bundle.

”Let’s go up and check it out. Ji Chaoyang might already be here,” Xu Xin suggested.

”Let’s do it. Is the place outside where we came down?” Wen Guixin, somewhat impatient, immediately walked out from the hall that connected all the survivor prisons, ”Let’s check out the control room you mentioned, listen, I’m still... huh?”

Her foot stepped softly, tapping on the soft ground with a gentle huh sound.

”Is the ground really soft? Let me try it!” Zhao Xiaochuan immediately ran out to step on it, ”Whoa, this ground feels really disgusting to step on.”

Xu Xin followed along.

At this moment, Wen Guixin fell silent, standing on the soft ground, her eyes locked onto the floor beneath her, eyebrows suddenly furrowing tightly.

”What’s wrong?” Xu Xin felt a jolt in his heart and quickly asked.

”This ground...” Wen Guixin walked a few steps, then stomped hard twice with some hesitance, ”This soft floor seems...to be alive?”
