Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 678: Chapter 454: The Organizer of the Event (5,000-Word Chapter)_2

Xu Xin nodded slightly.

Indeed, that would make sense.

”...No, that wasn’t me.” Upon hearing Lou Fei’Er say that, Chang Yin’s expression turned slightly grim, ”I only observed you through the eyes of the winged dragon statue when you attacked the stone statue group and connected the Transmission Array.”

”Huh?” Lou Fei’Er was taken aback, ”Wasn’t it you controlling the winged dragon that took Xiaohong away?”

Chang Yin’s stone-like eyes seemed to darken further: ”No. If I were in control, I would never have let the winged dragon statue take Xiaohong back. Xiaohong is better off with you than being brought back!”

”Wait, what are you talking about?” Wen Guixin suddenly interjected, with a puzzled look on her face, ”What do you mean the winged dragon statue took Xiaohong away? I only saw the winged dragon statue next to the Transmission Array!”

”Right! What are you guys talking about?”

Wang Lei and Zhao Xiaochuan were also confused.

Xu Xin briefly explained to them, and only then did they understand the situation.

”To think such a thing happened...” Ji Chaoyang was a bit surprised.

”In any case,” Chang Yin continued, ”the one who took Xiaohong wasn’t me, but I know about it because... whether Xiaohong was missing or brought back... they informed me.”

Xiaohong missing?

Back then, Xu Xin found him in the belly of a treasure chest monster, and he always felt there was a story behind it.

”’Your son is back in our hands now, so you can conduct your research with peace of mind.’ That’s what they told me after they found Xiaohong.” Chang Yin’s voice was low, with a hint of resentment.

”...It’s my failure for not being able to protect him.” Xu Xin paused and then spoke.

”No, it’s not your fault.” Chang Yin shook his head, ”That winged dragon was incredibly powerful, even if I faced it, I could only defend passively, let alone with its ability to regenerate infinitely after petrification, it’s not something you can handle right now.”

”That monster... I created it.” There was a bit of regret in Chang Yin’s words.

At this moment, Ji Chaoyang spoke again, ”So, when exactly can you control the winged dragon statue?”

”As I said earlier, I can only slightly control those two winged dragon statues after sunset.” Chang Yin replied, ”Before sunset, they are entirely under the control of the Blood Pattern Race, and the day Xiaohong was taken, the winged dragon statue was also following the orders of the Blood Pattern Race. I barely managed to obtain some information from the eyes of the winged dragon statue, learning about this in advance.”

”But...” Lou Fei’Er said with some confusion, ”At that time, the winged dragon statue didn’t seem to have any intent to harm us.”

”Hmm, it has its consciousness. Perhaps because of my subtle influence, it didn’t attack you.” Chang Yin explained.

”Or maybe... the Blood Pattern Race doesn’t intend to harm you, the strongest survivor, either? You might still be useful to them? I’m not really sure about this.”

The people present nodded, indicating their understanding.

”So...” Chang Yin spoke again, ”You should already have a general understanding of your current situation, right? What I’m about to say next pertains to your mission this time.”

Everyone straightened up solemnly.

After all, it concerned their lives.

”Ji Chaoyang has already told me the general content of your mission. On my side, there is also some information you don’t know.”

”A few hours ago, I suddenly received information from that mysterious voice.” Chang Yin’s words once again shocked everyone present.

”You heard that mysterious voice too?” Wang Lei exclaimed.

”Yes, but unlike you, you are participants in this event, while I am one of the organizers.”

Organizer?

Xu Xin’s heart skipped a beat.

He suddenly recalled the strange and active furry creatures and mutated organisms in previous events.

”Actually, it wasn’t just me; at that time, all those hairy monkeys around me heard that mysterious voice.” Chang Yin recalled, frowning with his stony brows.

”What it asked us to do was simple. The first step was to lock all the survivors who came to this underground warehouse into cells. The second step was to communicate with the survivors, asking them to help attract outside underground creatures, filling the entire prison.”

”Fill the entire prison?” Wen Guixin interrupted him, surprised, ”Was our original task to fill the whole prison with underground creatures?”

Xu Xin nodded slightly.

He had considered this and was surprised it turned out to be true.

”Yes, the third step was to give the survivors who completed the task the key to the underground warehouse. This is what I and those monkeys were tasked to do.” Chang Yin explained.

Xu Xin pondered slightly.

The event organizer...

Turned out to be subject to the orders of that mysterious voice, just like the survivors?!

Which means, in previous events, those riotous mutated creatures, those looters...

Were acting on orders from the mysterious voice?!
