Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 695: Chapter 460: All Vines Collected, A Complete Mess! (5400 Words)

Since that’s the case, the next target is to head towards where the signal flare was set off.

His current position is on the northeastern side of the vine cluster, while the direction of the signal flare is on the northwest side of the main vine cluster.

Over there, it seems to be...

Wang Lei, the direction Wang Lei is in charge of.

Xu Xin pondered, rotating his wristband.

Immediately, Xue Lan, who had been sitting leisurely on the ground chatting with Lou Fei’Er in the wristband, was released.

”Ah, are we on the surface now?” Xue Lan was momentarily stunned, then stood up.

Xu Xin observed the surroundings.

Xue Lan’s appearance attracted the attention of the surrounding giant beasts and insects.

But...

It only caught their attention briefly.

Because the giant insects and beasts only glanced once, then shifted their gaze back to their own business.

”This looks familiar...”

”Who... never mind...”

”A stone statue...”

”Is there a stone statue creature climbing out of the ground? It doesn’t seem very strong? Hmm... whatever.”

These were the thoughts Xu Xin caught from the hearts of the surrounding giant insects and beasts at that moment.

Among them, one voice was faint but particularly clear.

Xu Xin glanced at the giant ostrich-like beast about two hundred meters away.

Is it that one?

Do the giant beasts know about stone statue creatures?

”...Hmm?” Keke looked around in confusion, scratching its head with its little paw.

It seemed to have discovered something but was unsure.

Finally, it shook its little head, deciding not to think about it, and started napping on Xu Xin’s shoulder.

”Huh? It seems I attracted the surrounding creatures for a moment, but... now they’re not interested in me?” Xue Lan also noticed the oddity of the surroundings and said with a hint of curiosity.

Xu Xin nodded: ”That’s exactly how it is. It seems you don’t necessarily have to enter the wristband. What do you plan to do?”

”Hmm... I’d better go back into the wristband.” Xue Lan hesitated for a moment and then spoke, ”In that instant, I did feel some hostility. Their attitudes were not friendly. If I’m outside, it might cause you trouble.”

”Besides, I haven’t finished chatting with Lou Fei’Er.” She smiled.

”Alright.” Xu Xin nodded, ”Then you should go back into the wristband. Hmm, let me first take you to the central vine cluster.”

He pointed to the distant vine cluster reaching the sky: ”Chang Yin is nearby, let me take you to see him first.”

Although he needed to head northwest to assist Wang Lei, detouring slightly to the center was no problem.

Upon hearing this, Xue Lan’s eyes lit up instantly and she nodded, ”Alright!”

After retrieving her back into the wristband, Xu Xin picked up Keke, who had fallen asleep on his shoulder and was about to slip off, and held it in his arms.

He petted its little head and began advancing towards the central vine cluster.

At this moment, thoughts from the surrounding underground creatures continuously flowed into his mind.

Most of these thoughts were ordinary, purely about eating, sleeping, moving, and reproducing.

However, the thought processes of the giant beasts were very sophisticated.

It could be said that the intelligence of the giant beasts might not be much different from that of an adult human.

”Human? Is it a human... It’s been so long since I’ve seen a human...”

Xu Xin even overheard a giant beast’s inner monologue; it was evidently curious about him.

However...

These giant beasts, living deep underground, know of humans?

Hmm... It’s possible that it’s from the first batch of surviving giant beasts that were released from the surface, so it’s normal to have seen humans.

Luckily, that giant beast was purely curious about Xu Xin and had no intention of doing anything to him.

Xu Xin ran and jumped, once again crossing the Chishui River with a ”thump” as he landed on the other side.

Releasing a cluster of vines, he quickened his pace forward.

He wondered if anyone other than Wang Lei had returned to the area around the main vine cluster and could go together.

Huh?

Wait...

Earlier, the plan was if Xiaohong was found and it attracted the surrounding giant beasts, then a signal flare would be set off for Xu Xin to come over and retrieve Xiaohong back into the wristband.

But now it seems...

Although Xue Lan momentarily attracted attention when she appeared, she wasn’t attacked.

That being the case, Xiaohong should be the same.

So why did Wang Lei set off this signal flare?

Could there be another reason?

Is he in danger?

Xu Xin immediately grasped this piece of information in his mind.

Very likely!

It seems urgent to go over and help now!

Rather than running, Xu Xin pushed off with vigor, starting to leap through the vine-filled underground world!

Each leap covered dozens of meters!

However, the downside of this leaping was that it attracted the attention of nearby car-sized flying insects!

After just four or five jumps, seven or eight giant flying insects caught up!

The tails of these insects emitted a slightly dazzling yellow light, resembling giant fireflies.

They showed great interest in rapidly moving objects in the air, attracted by Xu Xin’s movements, swarming towards him.

”No wings... how are they flying?”
