Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 665: Chapter 450: Shocking Discovery in the Warehouse (4,800-word long Chapter)

The group slowly emerged from the passage, and everyone was armed.

This underground warehouse is quite large, and overall it feels like a giant underground garage.

But what’s parked in the warehouse isn’t cars, it’s...

Row after row of stone statues of underground creatures!

These stone statues are vastly different from the ones above ground.

The statues above, led by the pterosaurs, though larger than ordinary creatures, were generally normal in size. But now, these statues in front of them...

The smallest statue is a giant bug the size of a car!

The arrangement of the statues is very orderly, like a well-organized army, exuding a sense of oppression.

And that was not the most terrifying thing.

The group slowly looked up, gazing at the center of the warehouse, that statue...

A statue of a giant beast!

An enormous brown bear!

The giant brown bear is posed with all four limbs on the ground, but even so, its height reaches twenty meters!

Approximately the height of a six or seven-story building!

If this brown bear statue were to stand up, its height could reach fifty meters!

If this statue were alive, this brown bear might be one of the largest giant beasts they have seen in this world!

The stone eyes of the giant brown bear statue are staring unblinkingly at the entrance, which is where Xu Xin and his group are located.

This tensed everyone’s spirits, confronting these statues.

Xu Xin also glanced around at the resources emitting a golden glow.

The golden glow is emanating from the surroundings of the giant warehouse, because the middle section is full of statues.

And around the warehouse, next to the walls, every few meters there is a large shelf.

It’s hard to see what’s on the shelves, but including the shelves themselves, everything is emitting a golden glow.

Gold-grade resources are everywhere.

”Eek?”

The first to move was Keke.

Keke was lying on Xu Xin’s shoulder, tilting her little head to look at the surrounding statues, then jumped directly off his shoulder.

”Keke! Don’t run around!”

”Eek!” Keke didn’t listen, and instead ran a few steps to a giant bug statue, reached out a small paw and tapped it twice, then turned her head and tilted it, ”Eek?”

It seemed like she was saying, these guys can’t move, what are you afraid of?

Xu Xin and the others felt a tightness in their hearts when they saw Keke’s actions, but then realized nothing happened.

”...They seem to not be able to move?” Zhao Xiaochuan hesitantly said.

”They should not be alive right now, right?” Lou Fei’Er also lost her tension, walked over to the nearest giant bug statue, and examined it, ”I can sense the breath of mutant creatures from active statues, but I can’t sense anything from them.”

”So, at least right now, they are just ordinary stone statues.” Xu Xin also walked up and reached out to touch the giant bug statue.

[Beetle Statue (Gray): A mysterious statue, seemingly containing a faint, eerie life force.]

This description again.

However, the previous statues’ description didn’t seem to have the prefix ”faint.”

The life force of these statues seems weaker than those they encountered before?

Even though their sizes are much larger than the statues above ground?

”How’s it going, Brother Xin, what do you think of these statues?” Wang Lei asked nervously.

Xu Xin shared his findings with the others.

”Then... isn’t that basically the same as the statues above?” Zhao Xiaochuan exclaimed, ”If certain conditions are triggered, won’t they also come to life? If these big guys come to life, it’d be terrifying...”

”Faint...?” Wen Guixin also walked over, touched a statue, then shook her head, ”My ability can’t actively erode these statues, they... don’t seem to be real life.”

”Could you erode the previous statues?” Xu Xin asked.

Wen Guixin nodded, ”The previous statues gave me a feeling of life, these statues don’t. My description only tells me they are ’mysterious statues.’ Let me put it this way, the earlier statues, I already knew they might come to life, but these, I think won’t.”

”Right, I feel the same.” Lou Fei’Er also reached out and touched a statue, ”The statues on Xue Feng at least give me some feeling of kinship, but these don’t at all.”

”I see...” Xu Xin looked up at the giant bear statue staring in their direction, pondering slightly.

He had a hypothesis in his mind.

Chang Yin once said he was originally a normal resident of this world, later turned into a stone creature.

And the stone creatures that attacked them earlier are very likely to have originated from normal mutant creatures turned to stone.

Following this inference, these statues here...

”Here, this prison, very likely...” Xu Xin looked at these statues in front of him and voiced his hypothesis, ”is a processing factory for stone creatures. And these giant beast statues are some that haven’t been thoroughly petrified yet... semi-finished products, or perhaps... failures.”

His words left everyone around stunned, then they all began to ponder.
