Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 684: Chapter 456: Chishui River, The Change of Vine Branches (4500 words!)_2

Chang Yin tried hard to recall the events of the past: ”It’s been thirty-six years now, right? At that time, their equipment should have been blue-level iron armor... much stronger than the first group.”

Speaking of the first group, his tone slightly intensified, and his eyes narrowed.

Then, he glanced at the few people around him: ”Hmm... worse than your current equipment.”

”Being worse than us doesn’t mean much,” Zhao Xiaochuan tapped his steel armor and smiled, ”Even if they reached their peak development, they wouldn’t necessarily be better than us.”

They now wore purple-level gear. Their equipment grade should not be used as a reference.

After all, their equipment far surpassed that of people in other areas.

Strong individuals from other areas were even still using blue-level iron armor, most were still using blue-level leather armor, and ordinary survivors hadn’t even gathered blue-level leather armor yet.

The second batch of survivors entered the underground city together and all had blue-level equipment, indicating they likely reached a late development stage.

Therefore, they could create something like signal flares, which Xu Xin and the others couldn’t make.

”Wait, why didn’t I see much blue-level equipment in the treasure boxes of the underground city?” Xu Xin asked in confusion.

The items in the treasure boxes were remnants of those survivors.

”Oh, they were all blue-level iron armor. I melted them down for experiments back then,” Chang Yin explained casually.

Alright then...

”So this thing...” Ji Chaoyang raised the signal flare in his hand, ”Do you have any more?”

”Not much left,” Chang Yin glanced at them, ”You should be able to make them yourselves, right? Didn’t you raid the warehouse? This flare is made from meteorite iron, which you survivors can craft much easier than I can.”

”Meteorite iron?” Ji Chaoyang turned to look at Xu Xin.

”Ah, that meteorite ore,” Xu Xin paused slightly, then shook his head helplessly, ”Still not sure if it can be smelted.”

Wen Guixin directly took out a piece and threw it to Ji Chaoyang: ”It’s this thing, there’s a bunch of it there, just depends on whether Wenxi can smelt it.”

Ji Chaoyang took the meteorite iron, examined it closely, and then put it away.

Xu Xin looked at Ji Chaoyang: ”You will definitely encounter Xue Lan over there, right? How about... I give you my bracelet.”

Ji Chaoyang shook his head: ”Your bracelet still has your contract beast and Lou Fei’Er, I wouldn’t be able to utilize it effectively. Besides, I have not met the Xue Lan you’re talking about. She might not trust me. Instead, how about we swap locations, you come over to my side.”

Swap locations?

”No way,” Xu Xin shook his head immediately, ”There’s a river blocking the path on my side, ordinary people can’t cross it.”

He explained the peculiar effects of that odd river.

”Such a river exists?” The others were somewhat surprised.

Ji Chaoyang’s expression became slightly strange: ”There is also a river on my side, and...”

He moved his foot slightly, easily jumping half a meter high: ”I too have augmented jumping ability now.”

Wow, what a coincidence?

Only the two of them encountered rivers?

And both used the same method to cross...

”There are two Chishui Rivers nearby,” Chang Yin heard the two of them talking, explaining, ”Those two rivers are maintained by the Blood Pattern Race to keep the underground giant beasts with a thin bloodline mutation. The Chishui River’s water seeps into the soil on the surface, completely polluting the ground soil.”

”The water itself isn’t particularly attractive to underground creatures. Perhaps, when you get wet, it gives them the illusion that you are blood-patterned organisms?” he speculated.

So that’s how it is.

Chishui River, huh...

In short, don’t touch that water.

However, since Chang Yin has augmented jumping ability, it shouldn’t be a problem.

”Let’s give it a try then, let’s swap places,” Ji Chaoyang suggested.

”But...” Xu Xin hesitated a little.

”Wait,” Wen Guixin suddenly interjected, ”Have you considered that Ji Chaoyang’s prophecy might actually be about the events after you swap?”

Xu Xin nodded.

He had just been considering this possibility.

Perhaps a swap could end up causing issues?

”No...” Ji Chaoyang’s eyes widened slightly, momentarily unfocused, his eyebrows gently raised, a glint flashed in his eyes, ”The prophecy has changed, this time the prophecy is less fuzzy. It seems my prophecy ability really has increased a lot since entering the underground world.”

Fuzzy?

”What do you mean?” Xu Xin immediately asked.

Ji Chaoyang’s prophecy could change based on his actions and thoughts; he already knew that.

This wasn’t a fixed prophecy, but more like an internal calculation based on the current thoughts of the prophet.

This ability is actually much stronger than the prophecy they originally imagined!

”After absorbing a lot of survivors recently, increasing my abilities, and trying a series of experiments, I found that as long as I can pinpoint the specific time and place of events in the prophecy, I can easily alter the prophecy, even prevent prophesied events from happening,” Ji Chaoyang explained.

”However... if you want the prophecy to change drastically, the new prophecy will turn directly into a blurry mess, completely unclear, so even changing the prophecy doesn’t have much impact; better to follow the prophecy.”
