Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 631: Chapter 428: The Scent of Red Mist Intensified (5000-word Big Chapter!)_3

”I could have endured the darkness if I had never seen the light,” Zhao Xiaochuan said, drawing helpless lines on his watch. Then his eyes lit up, ”Hey? Although we can’t contact the outside world, we can communicate with each other! Is this the local area network?”

A few of them tried it, and indeed, it was so.

That was not too bad.

Wen Guixin swiped his watch twice, put it down nonchalantly, ”Let’s resolve it quickly. Let’s trigger the mechanism quickly.”

Everyone present were strong contenders from District 188, people who had ranked on the world leaderboard, having survived numerous precarious situations, they were not overly fearful of the current circumstances.

Zhao Xiaochuan’s cries were merely due to discomfort from the watch being unusable.

Ji Chaoyang was observing the surrounding mechanisms, with a slight furrow in his brow.

”Let’s replenish our enhancements first before activating the mechanisms,” Xu Xin said.

Now, they had no choice but to trigger the mechanisms first.

He still had one random enhancement left to choose, but he would select it after activating the mechanism, depending on the situation.

Everyone restored their status.

”Then let’s directly go...”

”Wait a minute.”

Lou Fei’Er suddenly interrupted Wen Guixin, her expression somewhat peculiar, ”Why do I feel that the scent of the Red Mist around us is getting stronger?”

The scent of Red Mist getting stronger?

Everyone carefully sniffed the air.

”Nope?” Zhao Xiaochuan asked with some confusion, ”I don’t smell anything?”

”Sister Fei’Er has a mutated constitution, she’s definitely more sensitive to the scent of Red Mist than us,” Wang Lei also didn’t smell anything, scratching his head, ”But what does this mean?”

Upon hearing Lou Fei’Er’s words, Xu Xin and Ji Chaoyang rushed to the walls, inspecting the gaps between the walls and floor.

Where there was once only a slight gap, now it was a finger’s width!

Amidst the surrounding, a faint red mist swirled, and they could already detect a subtle fragrance!

Indeed, this was the scent that appeared when the Red Mist was very faint.

”Eek!” Keke exclaimed, covering her little nose.

”Not good!” Both were shocked.

Xu Xin immediately turned back, ”Quick, trigger the mechanism!”

Ji Chaoyang quickly ran to the furthest mechanism, ”The Red Mist is starting to release; activate the mechanism quickly, or it will fill the whole room!”

Lou Fei’Er immediately started moving.

”Huh? What do you mean?” Others seemed lagged because they didn’t understand what Xu Xin and Ji Chaoyang said.

However, seeing Xu Xin and Ji Chaoyang’s nervous expressions, they immediately started moving, running towards the mechanism!

Xu Xin was already standing on the mechanism.

But to his shock, this time the mechanism...

Had no reaction!

No ”click” sound, nor did it sink.

Not moving!

What’s going on?

Remembered the wrong spot?

No, it’s right here!

”Why isn’t the mechanism activating?”

”Yeah, mine too!”

Confused voices came from behind.

”Hiss...” Xu Xin heard a faint sound of releasing gas nearby.

This tightened his heart.

”Eek!!” Keke suddenly shrieked, pointing at the gap in the wall corner, her little paws pushing Xu Xin’s face.

He immediately looked at the gap between the wall and the floor.

There, the Red Mist had not appeared yet.

But the sound he heard was definitely not mistaken!

”The scent of the Red Mist is stronger now!” Lou Fei’Er said, ”I’m already starting to feel my power increasing!”

”What’s going on? Is it the Red Mist from that previous event that could strengthen mutants?” Wen Guixin exclaimed, ”Are we... trapped and gassed?”

Dammit, what now?

Ji Chaoyang was also furrowing his brow tightly.

Though unsure of the harm the Red Mist posed to survivors...

Just the scent alone could knock someone out!

”Hiss—”

At this moment, rich red mist began to spray from the surrounding gaps, filling the room!

The scent around them swiftly transitioned from a slight fragrance to a strong aroma, and then into a stench!

Everyone’s expression changed, covering their mouths, almost gagging from it.

The smell was too disgusting!

Xu Xin glanced at Lou Fei’Er.

Although she was tense, she had a slight look of excitement.

Due to his request, Lou Fei’Er’s time in the Red Mist room was limited to half an hour daily, fearing her mental health might be affected, as Red Mist wasn’t an entirely benevolent thing.

Yet she was never fully satisfied.

So when she knew she could breathe in the Red Mist here, her body showed slight symptoms of addiction.

Xu Xin looked at her, his eyes gleaming slightly.

That’s right!

Lou Fei’Er isn’t afraid of the Red Mist!

”Everyone over here! I thought of a solution!” Xu Xin quickly said.

He took off the bracelet from his hand, passing it to Lou Fei’Er who rushed over at his words.

”Eh? Ah...!” Lou Fei’Er’s eyes widened, immediately understanding Xu Xin’s intention. She took the bracelet.

”Have Lou Fei’Er store us in the bracelet while she remains outside. Then, once it’s safe, she can let us out!” Xu Xin quickly explained to everyone else.

”Won’t you lose your mind in the Red Mist?” Ji Chaoyang asked Lou Fei’Er.

Lou Fei’Er quickly shook her head, ”No, don’t worry. Even when my spiritual power was very low, I never lost my mind, only saw things like hallucinations.”

By now, the surrounding Red Mist was about to envelop them entirely!

”Ugh... quickly let us in; we can’t be surrounded by this Red Mist. If we are, won’t we mutate!” Wen Guixin said rapidly, covering his mouth and nose.

Xu Xin nodded to Lou Fei’Er, who promptly used the bracelet to touch Wen Guixin.

Wen Guixin immediately agreed and entered the bracelet.

Thankfully, there was no infection via the bracelet.

So, she stored everyone else as well.

”Use the watch to communicate,” Xu Xin gestured to his watch before disappearing from the room.

As soon as he disappeared, the Red Mist completely engulfed the room.

Lou Fei’Er was submerged in the dense Red Mist.

She took a deep breath, showing a pleased expression, her eyes narrowing with red glow, two streaks of crimson appeared on her cheeks.

”Hoo... this Red Mist concentration, isn’t that much. It’s not even as good as the one in the cabin,”

She muttered to herself, then took another deep breath, smiling contentedly.
