Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 629: Chapter 428: The Scent of Red Mist Intensified (5000-word Big Chapter!)

At this moment, Xu Xin’s watch vibrated again; it was a call from Li Wenxi.

Although it wasn’t dawn yet, over there, they were about to head out for a large-scale mining operation.

”How’s it going over there? I saw the explorers say that you’ve found some kind of mechanism? It’s not too dangerous, right?” Li Wenxi was slightly concerned.

”Don’t worry, we’re all exploring together this time, it’s very safe.” Xu Xin said with a smile.

”Okay, just make sure to be careful.”

Xu Xin observed his surroundings while casually chatting with Li Wenxi.

She said that today she planned not only to mine iron ore but also to take people to mine some saltpeter and black gold mines.

Indeed, there’s a need for saltpeter to make explosive bolts and heavy bolts, and black gold ore is also a raw material for universal alchemy, so both types of ores are indispensable.

”That’s quite a burden for you. Why not let your companions and the two little guys help you? I’m not sure if they can enjoy your hundredfold drop rate bonus.” Xu Xin suggested.

”Right!” Li Wenxi realized, ”Okay, I’ll take them to try mining!”

The mining speed of the companions was really fast; however, without a high drop rate, it might reduce the total output of a mineral source.

But, it didn’t matter. In such a vast world, Li Wenxi could explore for mines, and he could create convenient things like portals, so there was no need to consider the total output of a mineral source at this stage.

At this stage, the priority was to improve mining efficiency.

”Alright, I have to set out now. You be careful too.”

After ending the call, Xu Xin had already circled around the iron room.

The smooth iron walls and floor didn’t feel cold to the touch; instead, they were slightly warm.

That’s right, just when he had touched the ground before, he hadn’t noticed, but now he realized that the walls and floor here were somewhat warm.

Approximately, a temperature of around twenty degrees.

The temperature radiating from these iron panels made the inside of this iron room rather warm.

Compared to the single-digit temperature outside, the temperature in here was more comfortable.

Moreover, it’s noteworthy that the walls and iron panels of this iron room weren’t perfectly sealed.

Instead, there was a very tiny gap.

This made Xu Xin slightly wary.

He knew exactly what this gap was for.

To release Red Mist!

That’s right, he had been forced into a chaotic retreat, scrambling upwards because of the Red Mist released from this gap.

Since this room also had such gaps, it meant Red Mist could be released here too.

Previously, Lou Fei’Er had also mentioned the faint scent of Red Mist here.

He couldn’t smell it.

”We’ve found the sixth one!” Lou Fei’Er’s excited voice came through.

”Woo!” Keke also let out a somewhat proud call.

”Nicely done, Keke!”

”Woo woo woo!”

Xu Xin walked over.

At this moment, Lou Fei’Er was standing on a sinking iron tile, and when she saw Xu Xin approaching, she stepped off before the tile sank completely.

Then, she took a stone out of her backpack, placed it on the tile, and nodded with satisfaction: ”Done! I’ve placed a stone on all the gravity mechanisms.”

Xu Xin took a look around.

Sure enough, including the tile he had previously stepped on, each one had a green stone placed on it.

The green glow emanating from these stones marked their positions in Xu Xin’s view.

”Not bad... huh?” Xu Xin uttered softly.

”What’s wrong?” Lou Fei’Er asked in surprise, seeing his furrowed brow.

”The positions of these gravity mechanisms seem to... symbolize something.” Xu Xin observed and pondered.

These six gravity mechanisms appeared to be at the vertices of a hexagon, forming a perfectly equidistant circle.

Xu Xin moved to the center of these gravity mechanisms and reached out to touch the floor.

There was no indication.

Perhaps, something would appear after triggering the mechanism?

”Woo?” Keke trotted over to him, tilting its head and looking at him, not understanding what he was doing.

Keke hadn’t discovered anything either.

It seemed he might have been overthinking it.

”Let’s wait for them to come down and discuss further.” Xu Xin picked up Keke, stood up, and looked at Lou Fei’Er, ”Where exactly is the thing you said could make us stronger?”

”Hmm... I think it’s underground... yes! It’s underground.” Lou Fei’Er nodded affirmatively.

Underground, huh...

”Perhaps this mechanism is the key to opening the passage underground?” Lou Fei’Er guessed.

”Very likely.” Xu Xin nodded.

At that moment, vague sounds echoed through the passage; his amplified hearing picked them up.

”They’re coming down.” Xu Xin moved to the entrance to wait.

”Hmm? How do you know? Did you hear something?” Lou Fei’Er moved over too, looking up, but she couldn’t see anything.

The two waited for another three or four minutes.

”Here they come, they’re coming down!” Lou Fei’Er, who had been staring down the passage, finally saw a shadow.

Soon, the first person approached.

”Stay back a bit!”

It was Wen Guixin’s voice.

The two stepped aside, and Wen Guixin jumped down lightly, landing gracefully.

Compared to Zeng Tao’s ”thud” landing style, high-level combatant Wen Guixin’s landing was much more graceful.
