Chapter 640: Chapter 434: Demons Dancing in Chaos! (4,800-word Chapter, Happy Mid-Autumn Festival everyone!)

The insect swarm receded completely within ten seconds.

Around them, a vast emptiness.

Even the mutated vines by the river had been trampled down by the swarm.

”Ooh!” Keke let out a cry, signaling that there was no longer any danger nearby. Then she jumped out of Xu Xin’s embrace and ran to the riverside.

”Don’t touch the river water... hey!”

Before Xu Xin could finish speaking, he saw Keke stretch out her little paw and splash the water.

He hurried over to grab Keke and moved away from the lake: ”What are you doing?! Are you trying to get us surrounded?!”

”Ooh...?” Keke flicked the water off her paw, looking innocently at Xu Xin.

He glanced around to ensure that no other creatures were approaching, then breathed a sigh of relief and lightly flicked Keke’s little forehead: ”You little thing, do you know something?”

Keke typically wouldn’t do something so dangerous.

”Ooh!” Keke pointed at the riverbed and waved her little paw.

”Riverbed... there’s something?” Xu Xin frowned slightly.

”Ooh!” Keke nodded her little head, ”Ooh ooh!”

There’s treasure at the riverbed.

Xu Xin looked towards the riverbed but couldn’t discern anything.

The riverbed was a shade of blue, but it was just blue-level pebbles, nothing to pay attention to.

Perhaps beneath these pebbles, there might be something, but that wasn’t something Xu Xin was going to concern himself with.

Because he couldn’t touch this river water again.

The earlier scene was something he didn’t want to repeat.

”So, are you going down to help bring it up for me?” Xu Xin teased as he ruffled the little one’s head.

”Ooh ooh...” Keke shook her little head vigorously.

She couldn’t really swim, let alone dive.

Xu Xin looked at the opposite bank of the river.

For now, it was best not to consider what was at the riverbed, the current objective was to quickly reach the vine cluster, perhaps to reunite with everyone!

He had already thought of a way to cross the river without touching the water.

Jumping propulsion enhancement.

Besides this, there was no other way he could get across without touching the water.

But before that...

Xu Xin first made two wooden barrels, carefully filling them with more than half a barrel of water, being extremely careful not to let the water touch his body.

Then he glanced back to ensure there were no issues, immediately crafted additional barrels, and stored over a dozen in his wristband.

This polluted water, better keep some, it always feels like it will be greatly useful someday.

Finished with that, Xu Xin wasted no more time, directly operating his watch to select the jump enhancement.

The power transmitted to his legs, granting him once again the ability to leap dozens of meters high.

The surrounding mutated vines had been eradicated; he retreated twenty meters from the riverbank.

”Ooh? Ooh!” Keke suddenly cried out, pointing to the spot where the dead vines lay.

He saw the broken, shattered vine fragments trembling slightly.

Hm?

Can they revive?

No!

New vines are sprouting from beneath!

He had already seen it, the small tips beneath those vine fragments were peeling out like bamboo shoots after a rain.

The growth rate was fast; within mere seconds, they had already grown several centimeters.

He needed to act before they regrew completely, or there would be no room to make a running start at the riverbank.

”Keke, we should go!” Xu Xin placed Keke on his shoulder, ”Hold tight!”

”Ooh!” Keke already knew what Xu Xin was planning, ”Ooh...ooh!”

By this time, Xu Xin had started quickly, accelerating towards the riverbank, stepping hard underfoot, and then leaping!

Straight into the air, reaching dozens of meters high!

Right above the polluted river!

”Ooh!” Keke gripped his shoulder tightly with her four paws, her two little eyes widening in shock.

And from the height of twenty to thirty meters, Xu Xin had a clearer view of the world.

Continuing seven to eight kilometers ahead, no river, he could walk straight over.

”Bang!”

He landed on the other side of the river.

Looking at the ground at his feet, Xu Xin felt cold sweat sliding down his forehead.

He was standing merely a meter from the river’s edge.

Just enough.

Any closer, he’d probably fall into the water.

The opposite riverbank was also filled with swaying mutated vines.

This river bred this cluster of vines, which was like a protective layer for the river.

Though they could not defeat anyone and were at the bottom of the food chain, constantly being eaten and constantly regenerating.

When Xu Xin landed with a ”bang,” the vines collectively trembled slightly, all turning their tips toward him, as if watching him intently.

Thankfully, they merely glanced for a moment and resumed their swaying.

A few hundred meters afar, the giant rhino seemed startled by the sound and vibration Xu Xin made, its massive head slightly turning to glance over before shutting its eyes again.

Apparently, Xu Xin and Keke held no interest for them.

As long as Xu Xin didn’t touch the river water.

The path ahead was completely blocked by these vines, but to Xu Xin now, it was no issue.

He pushed off with his foot, propelling himself once more, leaping into the air.

”Ooh!” Keke was unprepared this time and was startled.

”Plop.”

Easily leapt over the mere few-meter-high mutated vine wall, landing calmly.
