Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 630: Chapter 428 The Taste of the Red Mist Becomes Stronger (5,000-word long Chapter!)_2

”Why are the others so far from you?” Xu Xin wondered.

His ears could vaguely capture the position of people behind him, but the distance from Wen Guixin was still too far.

”Ah... Hmm...” Wen Guixin said awkwardly, ”My poison can spread through the stairs, and Wang Lei accidentally got infected just now. I gave him the antidote and then came down first by myself, letting them wait a while before following.”

”...Impressive.” Xu Xin twitched the corner of his mouth.

It could actually spread through the stairs!

Thank goodness it wouldn’t spread via the ground; otherwise, standing close to her would be problematic.

”Your ability is really strong.”

”By the way, what exactly is this place? Such a long iron passage, made into a ladder that’s so torturous to climb...”

Wen Guixin vented a little, then looked up at the inside of the passage.

Though the people behind were quite far away, it would only take two or three minutes.

Soon, the others jumped out from the passage onto the floor of the iron room.

As soon as they came down, they began to look around.

Xu Xin led them to try out those gravity mechanisms.

The mechanical and technological feel of the gravity mechanisms amazed them.

”Hmm?” Keke suddenly made a puzzled sound and looked up, turning his small head to observe everywhere.

”Is this space really a completely sealed iron room?” Zhao Xiaochuan looked around, ”Is the whole room made of iron? Even this mechanism is made of iron! Is it really iron? It looks like iron, but it doesn’t seem like such a simple metal; it should be some kind of alloy, right?”

He reached out and touched the metallic wall.

”Very likely.” Xu Xin nodded, ”The passage above should be iron since it’s already rusted. But this room...”

Xu Xin looked around.

This room had smooth metal walls all around, without any trace of rust.

The material of this room was obviously different from above.

It should not be iron at all, but alloy, or some new metal.

”Is there anything left to be surprised about at this point?” Wang Lei stood at the bottom of the passage and pointed at it above his head, ”Such a long passage all made of iron, that must consume a lot of iron, and the room below is metal; it’s not that unusual... Hmm? Whoa!!”

”Hmm!” Keke also noticed the anomaly, screamed, pushed Xu Xin’s face with one paw, and pointed diagonally upward with the other, ”Hmm Hmm Hmm!”

Wang Lei and Keke’s screams startled the others, directing their gaze upward.

Then, everyone’s pupils contracted!

They saw that the exit of the passage was slowly closing unnoticed!

An iron plate was sliding sideways, like a closing sliding door!

It was already halfway closed!

Xu Xin’s pupils contracted.

The closing was silent, without any sound of friction; his enhanced hearing didn’t catch it at all!

”Don’t let it close!”

”Stop it quickly!”

Several people rushed over immediately.

Right below the passage, Wang Lei instantly regained his senses, grabbed the ladder without saying a word, trying to climb up to stop the iron door from closing with his immense strength.

But it didn’t work.

Because, at the instant he stepped onto the ladder, the iron door seemed to sense something, its slow closing suddenly accelerated!

”Bang!”

The iron door shut abruptly, emitting a loud sound.

In this iron room, the only entrance for people to move in and out was completely sealed.

The ceiling where the passage once was disappeared entirely, becoming very smooth.

If not for a remaining section of ladder in the room, the people present might not have found the exact location of the passage exit.

”This...”

”Hmm...” Keke lay on Xu Xin’s shoulder, nuzzling his small head against Xu Xin’s face, a bit scared.

Both Wang Lei, who just caught the ladder and didn’t have time to climb up, and the five others behind him were silent at the moment.

Their eyes showed a heavy color.

They were unexpectedly trapped in this enclosed room!

Lou Fei’Er instinctively moved to Xu Xin’s side, cautiously watching around.

”...It seems we can only continue exploring,” Xu Xin said heavily.

This room unexpectedly cut off their way back, preventing them from going up.

Was it because it detected the number of survivors in the room was sufficient to activate the mechanisms?

These deeply buried mechanisms must be extremely dangerous.

However, they originally came to solve the problem of the formation.

Moreover, District 188 should be relatively safe before this winter ended.

So, even if they disappeared for a while, it probably wouldn’t be a big issue.

By the way, can the watch still...

Just as he was about to raise the watch to check, Ji Chaoyang had lowered his watch and shook his head at him, ”The watch’s communication has been interrupted. We can no longer contact the outside world.”

”No way...!” Zhao Xiaochuan clicked his watch a few times, cried miserably, ”I feel so uncomfortable, like losing a cell phone in modern society, it feels awful!”

”Come on.” Wang Lei swiped his watch a couple of times, ”Not many people have watches in this world, and they’re living just fine.”
