Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 798: Chapter 595: Simple and Brutal Battle

The slave traders on the opposite side did not fear this Mage capable of casting Ninth Level spells. Instead, they mocked with laughter: ”Only a Mage of the Kind Alignment would stick his nose into others’ business.”

”This time coming with the ship is truly profitable! He looks like one of those wealthy academic types!”

”Hehe~ Seeing how tense he is about the elves, he must be an elf too, right? Wonder if he looks good? If he’s a beauty, seal his Magic Power and send him to Celene, someone would pay a high price for him~”

”Don’t mention it, the mining merchants in Celene are much more willing to spend than those wealthy ladies~ Elves are all delicate little fair-skinned boys~

They can definitely sell for a high price.”

Their faces were full of sarcasm, as if they could easily capture Hill and sell him as a slave.

If it weren’t for their tense bodies and trembling hands, one might have thought they were really confident just by looking at their smug faces!

They thought they could disrupt Hill’s thinking with such a method, but that was wishful thinking.

Hill, undisturbed, continued walking towards the slave ship. He needed to get close enough to securely hold the ship, otherwise, if it escaped into the air, he would have to put in quite an effort to catch it again due to its speed-focused design.

The silver orb slowly increased, and Hill knew that the one aiming at him with Magic Power was probably close to collapse by now.

The captain of the slave ship had not appeared yet, because even his four giant crossbows could not aim at Hill, and no amount of Magic Power would help.

Without the crossbows, what do they have?

Hill was actually surrounded by a Gravity Field, and even when his level was low, he could use Gravity Spells directly, let alone after advancing to Legendary level.

As an Earthborn Demigod, the field around Hill that could deflect physical attacks was almost three times more effective than spells from Magicians or Mages of the same level, which is why he dared to roam freely.

For weapons that require direct hits to be effective, unless they can suppress Hill’s field directly, they are of no use to him.

Besides, even if it’s not Hill, a Mage at his level should not be afraid of physical attacks; otherwise, that would be too useless.

A Mage would be harmed by physical means only if the opponent’s strength exceeded his limits of endurance or if it was that damned Demon-Slaying Dagger.

Hill thought neither of these existed on this Magic Ship.

Although the crossbow bolts attempted to aim at him, one of the arrowheads flickered with a black Demonslayer light, yet the dim glow could not even pierce the silver Shields surrounding Hill.

Hill finally walked step by step to the previously chosen position.

The Magic Ship’s captain seemed quite ruthless, determined to eliminate the Mage opposing them, instead of fleeing while Hill was moving.

Hill wasn’t sure if the captain regretted now, but... his spell range was much farther than the pirates expected.

Although he failed to mimic the Staff of the Archmage, at least it had some basic effects, especially increased spell range.

Also, basic Sealing Spell, Magic Long Rope, Knock Spell, Mage Armor, and Hand of the Mage.

Hill didn’t know why his deepest impression of the Archmage’s Staff was that a gentle tap with the staff’s head could instantly open a chest or door without a key.

He always thought that action looked very suave, so even with limited ability, despite the few stored spells on his staff, Hill resolutely included this spell.

Well... anyway, his mindset in creating this staff was somewhat like making a big toy, something to practice when the Magic Book couldn’t enhance his spells.

Speaking of which, Hill didn’t know whether he was unlucky or lucky.

Suren’s blessing with the power of Celene almost made him invincible under the moonlight. Celene’s divinity encompassed more than ten aspects, including the moon, stars, navigation, navigation, wanderers, and seekers, whose blessings were the primary reason Hill had the idea to explore the Half-planes in the Stellar Realm.

With some other methods, Hill, when in the Stellar Realm, was fearless even facing Bane, with so many blessings that even he couldn’t count them all.

However... Celene’s blessings occupied three Chapters. The Magic Book was sealed after being violently opened by powerful Divine Power, giving Hill thirty years to slowly consider what spells to add.

Otherwise, Hill wouldn’t have been interested in creating this imitation of the Archmage’s Staff.

Possibly because the materials Hill used weren’t much worse than the Divine Artifact itself, even though the additional functions weren’t as numerous, the effects were similar.

Except for some specific spells, Hill wasn’t very interested, such as those Dimensional Gates and interworld transfers for escape; for Hill, if he encountered danger he couldn’t avoid, a Dimensional Gate would be useless.

The simplest method is to call upon the Earth element lord to pull him directly into the Elemental Realm.

Hill’s Archmage’s Staff actually resembles the very famous Seven-Section Rod in many ways. Although that thing mainly uses the power of other divine artifacts, its design was excellent, so Hill made one with nine sections.

It’s somewhat like a combination of the two, mainly borrowing the fundamental ability of the Archmage’s Staff to absorb the enemy’s magic for charging.

His choice was simple: the less proficient, the more he wanted to use it, like fire and fire.

The fist-sized energy crystal at the head of the staff can be replaced; if he can’t gather enough charge, he would have to draw energy from the crystal to cast spells.

He meticulously combined the spells on each section, turning himself into a turret mage that could endlessly cast fireballs as long as there was enough charge... though it’s a bit costly.

This was mainly to match his level, as these fireballs were virtually all above level 20. Even though Hill’s energy crystal was so large that many thought it fake, it couldn’t last for ten rounds.

Hill swung his staff, releasing a long rope that directly connected to that ship. Now, he could take his time.

The henchmen could no longer maintain their composed and unfazed demeanor. Despite their reluctance, they jumped towards Hill under the intimidation of the slave master.

Hill couldn’t be bothered to waste his silver Radiant Orb on such small fry, so with a light wave of his staff, he rewarded each with a large fireball.

As Hill waved his staff, the magic ship’s heavy crossbows fired directly. Although they couldn’t track Hill with spells, they opted for a bold surprise attack, hoping that Hill would be momentarily distracted while dispatching those dozens of decoy henchmen.

Hill thought they must have never seen a true Archmage.

Mages indeed work with focus, but without the ability to multitask while casting spells, one could never become an Archmage; that’s a fundamental ability for a level 20 mage.

Silver orbs directly intercepted the few crossbow bolts, making them explode before they reached five meters.

The slave ship was shattered by the intense explosion, destroying a large part of the hull on the port side and even breaking a section of the deck.

The slave master finally couldn’t hold back and rushed out.

When he saw her, Hill couldn’t help but glance back at the trading hall on Dragon Rock Star; a half-succubus... they dared let her enter their domain.

Even if she never disembarked to trade with anyone, her ship docked at the port, and those merchants couldn’t possibly be unaware of her identity. The presence of a half-succubus can never be fully concealed.

The actions of these merchants on Dragon Rock Star, deceiving themselves like this, can be classified as the kind God of Loyalty, Tom, despises most.

In the Years of Turmoil’s war of the Pantheon, a big reason he fought Bane to mutual destruction was precisely because those people clearly knew something was wrong but preferred self-deception to enjoy temporary peace.

Hill pondered and ultimately decided not to intervene in others’ affairs, merely commanding the Radiant Orb to rush towards that half-succubus. From her body’s dark halo, Hill could tell that despite her near-legendary status, she had utterly failed to break past the level 20 mortal limits.

Even if a half-demon had innate talents, with formidable physical strength, it was only somewhat useful at lower levels.

The quick-moving Radiant Orb, imbued with strike evil power, left the half-succubus utterly unprepared; after her first appearance, the opposing mage didn’t even give her a chance to speak and directly attacked, leaving her shrieking as she evaded.

Unfortunately, such sonic attacks were useless against Hill.

Instead, it reminded him of that obnoxious loudspeaker from the Church of Bane days ago.

Hill’s expression turned cold, his staff swung forcefully, and all seven sections simultaneously lit up. A column of fiery magic, full of flying sparks, rose directly beneath her, soaring towards the starry sky: did they think he hadn’t noticed the strange presence in her shadow?

”No... damn... how could you provoke...” before the half-succubus vanished, the thing within her shadow still managed to say half a sentence under the scorching of the legendary spell!

Hill blinked, suddenly realizing that it was the most wicked Abyssal language; this half-succubus might be an Abyssal Lord’s spy on Toril, right?

He couldn’t help reaching up to scratch his head. If it were just an ordinary lord, they wouldn’t withstand such law fire, which is even stronger than an average 9th-level spell; after all, ’Scorching Flame Waterfall’ doesn’t just burn away positions and defensive magic arrays but also carries a bit of the disintegration spell’s effect.

Even though Hill was quite curious about the spell’s effects, even though it had been successfully recorded in the staff long ago, he dared not use it carelessly. This time, he only dared to employ it since he found an opponent no one cared about burning up.

Who cares if a demon’s soul gets thoroughly incinerated!

Yet the thought of ascending the half-succubus’s magic ship didn’t appeal to Hill.

He gazed blankly for a while, but still, nobody emerged from the cabins.

Hill gave it a thought, summoned a swath of sunlight, and scanned the ship from head to tail, confirming all the half-succubus’s little toys had vanished before he slowly flew aboard.

Hill waved his staff, prying open the magic ship’s deck; after all, he didn’t want the ship, and risking stepping on garbage was out of the question!
