Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 769: Chapter 568: The ’Tiger’ Blocking the Way

Hill was truly moved.

As long as he carried the ring, he could directly teleport to the hall of the Windsong Tower through any official portal.

Although the items inside the Windsong Tower must have been cleared out by those Shadow Souls, the tower itself was still standing.

It hadn’t completely fallen, and Hill wanted to take a look.

Moreover, a Magician’s inheritance relied on the tower rather than the books inside.

The Shadow Souls were after the Nyscroll, and they were now busy chasing those who had gained something inside, so they wouldn’t have the time to smash the tower to pieces, Hill thought he could still gain something from there.

Whether it was the Great Archmage or Mystra, there were things they simply would not understand, knowledge inherited through the bloodline of the Ancient Elves.

What Hill always wanted was this very fundamental and original inheritance.

He really also wanted to do something for the magicians of Teraxil, who were now practically studying the mage’s methods, yet had no idea how to deal with their own bloodlines.

Hill himself was fortunate enough to have survived the initial bloodline uprising, but not everyone was as lucky as him.

The magicians of Teraxil, due to the harsh living environment, almost all underwent the most barbaric types of bloodline development; the faster they grew, the better, with very few studying their bloodlines in detail.

Often, this kind of advancement was at the cost of one’s intelligence, and the higher their level, the more beast-like their thinking became.

In the end, even those with outstanding intelligence couldn’t learn spells beyond their bloodlines.

But clearly, if one had enough intelligence, a Magician could also take on the Mage Profession.

What Teraxil needed was a stable Magician promotion pathway, without needing to be overly powerful.

Just like in Toril, where many magicians were actually more powerful in the Mage Profession and could freely choose their hobbies.

But in Teraxil, it just couldn’t be achieved, whether one had the knack for it or not.

Although Hill didn’t like some of the practices of the Sorcerer Tower, he could still understand why the magicians couldn’t trust any outsiders.

Hill, however, was different from them; after all, he was a Demigod Sorcerer, and there was a lot of pain that he definitely wouldn’t feel.

If it were about risking himself for these magicians, Hill might not be able to do it, but if it was something he could easily do, he was still willing to do it.

He was also inherently interested in this once most powerful inheritance tower of the Sorcerer in Toril.

Hill smiled, tucked away the ring, and decided that after checking the latest situations in Agleya City upon his return, he would set off to see it.

He had the Oak Spirit find a few puppets that were good at handling trivial matters to sort out the remaining Strange Objects, and Hill rolled up his sleeves.

He already sensed a massive amount of hostility coming with the cold wind. He was familiar with that Divine Power.

Hill truly thought Valkin had a problem in her head to dare come after him!

Who gave her the courage? Was it Bane?

Was Valkin really thinking of joining the Evil Faction by fully cooperating with the Tyranny God?

As a Goddess completely reliant on faith, simply appearing together with Bane would cause countless cautious traders to abandon her.

Hill walked out of the Cloud House with a scoff, directing the Little Flower Fairies to hide inside Windmill Jasmine’s blossoms.

Windmill Jasmine took a look around, and seeing Hill’s murderous expression, she quickly ducked inside the Cloud House, hanging by the window with Lily of the Valley, waiting to enjoy the spectacle.

Both were very clear that Hill stepping out of this room meant that whatever enemies were coming were the kind he didn’t even consider worth his full effort.

Hill lowered his eyelids and looked down at the rugged path where the World’s Ridge met the Sword Coast, now occupied by Valkin’s followers.

Both sides had frustrated merchant caravans and adventurers wanting to deal with these fellows.

But all these undercurrents ended in front of a lady dressed in glittering gold, who even had boots made out of gold, not to mention the belt at her waist that seemed to be strung with gold coins.

This attire, extremely similar to the Statue of Goddess Valkin, made most people leave obediently.

Hill tilted his head, beneath the churning waves of the Sword Coast, it was Ambori!

No wonder Valkin had the guts to intercept him. She had directly allied with Ambori!

Hill suddenly realized something wasn’t right. Ambori, despite his fierce look, was actually timid. Valkin alone wasn’t enough to give her the courage to confront him directly.

The Sword Coast here, Agleya, occupied much of the territory. Even if she didn’t actively promote her faith much, allowing ships to pray to Ambori for safety was a benefit many business ships sought.

In the Temple of Agleya, the Divine Power accumulated on the statue had almost caught up with the whole of Teraxil.

She had put much effort into creating a cycle of faith exploitation in that spark of Divine Fire on the statue.

All these acts of faith were diligently converted by the statue into Holy Water and protective powers for the Sword Coast.

Although Agleya did not respond to these prayers, she fulfilled her duties as a Sea Goddess normally, with no abnormal weather or waves occurring from Deepwater City to Luskan.

Everything operated according to the natural rules, ebb and flow.

This was already more than any merchant ship on the Sword Coast could dream of.

Even the Ancient Blue Dragon who controlled the shipping lanes had made a special trip to the Agleya Temple to make an offering, tired of dealing with the troublesome Ambori.

Every time, it took her personally intervening to send the seaweed packing, really wasting her time so lovingly spent with her bed of gold coins.

Hill and Agleya were truly finding out for the first time how quickly faith could disappear, even Ambori’s priests had directly converted.

In the past, people already knew those deities were impersonated by devils, many couldn’t change right away and just had to live isolated from the world in the Alchemy Hut!

So discovering that Agleya had no immediate plans to contend with Ambori elsewhere, she probably would just keep her distance instead of actively seeking her out, her power had weakened to its limit.

If her incarnation were to die again, Ambori’s divinity as the Sea God would likely be completely lost, and Hill doubted she truly would turn into a shark-head.

After carefully observing his surroundings, Hill wondered if the Frost Maiden was also going to take action.

Probably not, right?

After all this time, the Frost Maiden was actually avoiding Hill because she was worried about the Ring of Winter he possessed.

She had always known its location, but wouldn’t go after it unless there was a chance to return to an Intermediate Divine Power level.

The Ring of Winter could only be used by those of a Kind Alignment, and Olypher, having fallen and been demoted, simply didn’t have the capacity to reclaim her former power.

She would definitely not give Talos, the Storm God, the chance to absorb her divine power.

To avoid encountering Hill, the Frost Maiden had not even crossed the World’s Ridge to the Icewind Valley side of the Dead of Winter these past two years where she could demonstrate her formidable power.

Hill didn’t think Valkin could draw her out.

Unless Talos personally intervened, but that was impossible.

If Talos dared set foot into Icewind Valley, Tampas, the God of Battle, would rush over to strike him down.

He was silent now, just in line with the temperament of the God of Battle. He wouldn’t bully the small as long as Valkin’s group didn’t harm his followers, then he wouldn’t directly strike them.

Olypher had been so meek through these years, watching her followers fulfill their duties by slaughtering livestock, all so Tampas would hopefully continue to keep Talos out of The North.

Her followers included many barbarian female priests, all of whom adopted her faith to find food during winter.

Sometimes during their fights, the names they cried out weren’t for Olypher but Tampas, whom they had been calling for since childhood.

Eventually, Hill’s gaze fell upon the mountain.

He suspected that Marla, the God of Hunting, had arrived.

This individual hated the gods of the Nature System and would gladly take action to slay Nature’s darlings.

If that was the case, Hill glanced at the Demigod Vine always lying lazily on the roof of the Cloud House.

Ever since it had devoured that False God in Felunryel, it had been indulgently inactive.

But Hill knew the great benefit it had received, as recently the leaves it sprouted were all glittering gold, not to mention the flowers and the fine threads beneath that could pierce human flesh.

Hill had once tried to pluck a flower from it, and it actually took some effort.

And that was when the Murderous Vine had no guard up against Hill; when he plucked a flower, the vine even asked if he wanted more.

He estimated that unless it was a High-level Warrior with a Legendary weapon, no other method would touch a single leaf of that Murderous Vine.

Hill waved at it and directly connected with it in the Mental Sea, ”The last False God you devoured, its prototype might be below.”

The originally lazy Murderous Vine suddenly shot up its flowery leaves, showing great interest!

Following Hill, it could no longer devour the essence of Magical Beasts to level up unless some brainless fool sought trouble.

And the higher the level of the Magical Beast, the less likely it was to bother Hill. The Murderous Vine felt it probably had to rely on the natural force from Hill to slowly progress.

Actually, it was quite content to just sleep and not be disturbed.

But the loot from the last world was too blissful! Devouring such powerful flesh and even receiving a blessing from nature, the Murderous Vine could hardly believe its luck!

In the past, its actions used to invite thunderstorms!

The Murderous Vine adored that big baboon!

It spiritedly slid down from the top of the Cloud House and landed next to Hill.

Hill had the Cloud House circle above their heads a few times, and to his speechless observation, they sensed absolutely nothing.

To think they dared to intercept him like this?

Even the female Knight in red armor from the merchant caravan noticed something was wrong!
