Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 779: Chapter 578: The Otherworldly Whale Purwell

Hill placed his hand on the unconscious Otherworldly Whale’s head and turned to Terry, saying, ”Now I must communicate with this Otherworldly Whale, its soul hasn’t been corrupted yet.

Such a strong child, it’s still trying even now.

Terry, don’t you think it resembles you a little?

Both of you are quite strong.

By the way, I have prepared a gift for you in the study, wouldn’t you like to see it?”

Terry was conflicted for a long time, his gaze still fixed on the bell in Hill’s other hand, he was so close to getting it first!

Even if he couldn’t destroy it, it would be good to take it back to his own warehouse!

Once he got it, Hill surely wouldn’t have the heart to ask for it back!

Damn it!

Why is Hill faster than a dragon!

”Oh this? I acquired it while I was in Silvermoon City some time ago, a strange object that can attack with sound waves,” Hill said nonchalantly, watching the persistent Terry, ”You care so much about it, do you perhaps know where it came from, Terry?”

Terry, looking dazed, glanced at Hill before finally catching on to his friend’s meaning.

While he couldn’t avoid being mocked by his own father and mother, as long as they didn’t talk about it outside, his face was saved.

At most, when Terry went out in the future, he would just have to avoid sleeping or not revert to his dragon form to sleep, then he wouldn’t be exposed.

Terry rubbed his chin in deep thought for a long time. By the time he had come to a decision, Hill had already finished discussing the future with the Otherworldly Whale. He then stomped his foot and flew back to the study: The gift Hill was willing to take out and talk about must be no ordinary magical curio, it had to be at least more valuable than a bell made of gold!

Hill gently lifted the huge whale and transported him towards the direction of the Holy Water Pool.

This Otherworldly Whale, named Purwell, had rejected Hill’s suggestion to only purify his physical body and keep his soul stored away, fearing his soul hadn’t completely freed itself from those evil Mages. So, despite the pain, he hoped to take a bath in holy water.

When he learned that Hill had enough holy water to drown a whale, he joyfully spun circles in the little bubble that housed his soul.

He wasn’t afraid of death, but these priests of the Grim Reaper Church had somehow bound his soul, so even in death, he couldn’t escape, and his fate would be even more miserable.

If it wasn’t for a bone blessed by the Main God in the skull of the Otherworldly Whale that allowed him to hide, Purwell would have been finished long ago.

Without his soul’s cooperation, those Grim Reaper Priests could only erode his body in another way; after all, they wanted a complete Otherworldly Whale, but Purwell had already discovered that most of his body was corrupted, with only the bones remaining under the protection of the skull.

However, it was only a matter of time; the power of the Main God wouldn’t protect him for much longer.

Luckily, he didn’t know what had happened, but Purwell, who had been left in a half-plane to slowly corrupt, was sent out and was saved by the wealthy Nature Mage before him!

Purwell was extremely happy, willing to offer everything he had to Hill, including his soul.

Hill also inquired about Purwell’s future plans.

He could indeed allow Purwell to continue staying in this world, but then Purwell would almost have to become an existence similar to a Tower Spirit, just in control of a huge ship made from his original body, and he would also have to become a Contract Spirit for Hill.

If not for a powerful Mage like Hill, such Contract Spirits could only remain in the Stellar Realm waiting for a summon; although immortal and indestructible, they were also very lonely.

On the other hand, Hill could transform him into a Tower Spirit directly bound to the ship, and unless that ship was destroyed, he could continue to exist relying on it.

If Purwell couldn’t accept that, Hill would only have the option to send him to the realm of the dead, or wait and see if the angel of the Divine Kingdom would come to fetch him after Purwell’s soul was purified.

Otherworldly Whales typically worship that most mysterious Sky God: Song of Silence.

Hill’s understanding of it was basically that it was a spherical phantom creature that sang songs, and he knew nothing else, so he really didn’t know if Purwell could be summoned.

Moreover, followers of the Song of Silence seldom got caught; the deity didn’t like to fight, so its vigilance was very high, and it was very concerned about the safety of its followers, usually warning them before danger occurred.

But if the follower didn’t listen, it wouldn’t interfere, making it a deity that did as it pleased.

Otherworldly Whales were naturally travel-loving, kind, and enthusiastic creatures, rarely harming others intentionally, expressing their anger only by lifting people up and tossing them into the sea of another Plane.

Although Purwell didn’t say much, Hill could understand from his expressions of despair, pain, and somewhat incoherent words that this was another story of the farmer and the snake.

Hill had no other way to help him; the people in the organization of Santarin had committed innumerable evil deeds.

Yet those who could take revenge on them were few; the simplest reason was that one couldn’t catch them.

Unless one directly destroyed the entire Santir Fortress, which would mean a battle against the Church of Bane, the most powerful church.

Even Hill didn’t have the ability to help him take revenge.

However, if Purwell stayed with Hill, Hill could take him to see if he could find his enemy when Santir Fortress was destroyed.

The eventual fate of this power was predictable.

Baal had indeed exacted his revenge, and even though he returned to the Stellar Realm to await another opportunity after yet another failure, at least he had destroyed Bane’s most powerful Church organization.

Hill truly wondered if, compared to the Three Gods of Justice who always thwarted his resurrection and the meddlers like himself who would strike Baal at every encounter, Baal hated Bane even more.

No one knew what Bane really thought, but he had indeed sabotaged Baal on several occasions when Baal tried to resurrect.

It appeared incidental, even indirect.

For example, eliminating thieves and assassins who could potentially interfere with his resurrection ritual.

It was just a pity that those assassins were followers of Baal... Baal’s Church organizations were already scarce, and Bane had destroyed more than three of them himself.

The complex relationships among the evil deities were something people like Hill could never comprehend.

He was a Nature Mage, and the simplest way to keep a soul in the world was to turn it into an undead, which Hill, of course, would never do.

Nor would anyone propose such a thing to him, unless they wanted to die sooner.

Purwell did not give it much thought; he was a very young male Otherworldly Whale who had left his parents not long ago, otherwise, he would not have been so easily deceived.

The dream of every Otherworldly Whale was to traverse the Multi-Element Universe, and since relying on his own power was no longer an option, he was willing to follow a mage of the Kind Alignment.

Purwell felt that mages like that were even rarer than the number of Otherworldly Whales, an opportunity not to be missed!

Hill and Purwell first signed a Contract, turning him into a Contract Spirit, before placing his body in a newly-dug large pool.

Otherworldly Whales are large creatures, and the shallow pools in front of the Agleya Temple could not accommodate him.

Though young, Purwell was 200 meters long, 25 meters wide, and over 30 meters in height.

Fortunately, Hill was quick at digging pools, and everything was ready by the time Purwell was transported there.

Even the water was from the Holy Pool, where the Elven Pantheon and Lansendel had also made an effort.

It was as he placed Purwell into the pool that Hill thought he heard someone gasping for air in the Harpist Building nearby?

What had happened?

Hill found it strange and surveyed the harbor, but nothing was amiss?

The assassins all knew there were Puzzle Locks here and hadn’t come to deliver themselves to death!

He glanced back at the inn; a mass of heads in the window suddenly scattered.

Hill didn’t understand, having taken down even the avatars of the deities, only a few Shadow Mages remained — it would be strange if they were undead.

Telling Purwell that he had to soak in this Holy Water Pool for fourteen days, Hill then constructed a single-sided crystal pyramid above the large pool.

Fourteen days in the open would leave Purwell subject to constant hassle by the persistent Undead Tribe.

Yet, he couldn’t be deprived of sunlight, especially during dawn, touched by the first hints of daylight.

Due to the presence of Blood of Lansendel here, even if Lansendel himself did not intervene, the Law of Dawn was still willing to sow its power in this place.

When Hill returned to the study, Terry had already been coaxed by List and Marsha to go back to his room to copy the Draconic knowledge on the tablet.

Upon seeing Hill, List promptly reported their thoughts, ”Mr. Terry adores this tablet! I think he may not be interested in the knowledge on it, but he definitely wants the Divine Artifact made from Black Dragon scales.

Mr. Hill, the Ancient Silver Dragon who made this tablet seems to be related to Terry by blood; he went crazy the moment he saw it.

So, Marsha and I told him that if he copied it several times and translated it into Elf or the Common Tongue, you might give him the tablet.”

Hill nodded, ”If he really translates it well, giving it to him wouldn’t be a problem! However, not right now. Tell Terry that when he can protect his valuables from his own parents, I will give him these tablets.

He mustn’t take them outside the Floating Castle.

I had almost forgotten, although Terry is a Golden Dragon, he does indeed have a Silver Dragon Bloodline.”

This tablet was imbued with the power of Farisonis, the Peaceful and Gentle aura that the Ancient Silver Dragon had specially sealed in the tablet for the healthy growth of her offspring.

Humans who spent a long time with this tablet would develop resistance to various injuries from the Dragon Race, not to mention Terry who already had a Silver Dragon Bloodline.

Then, indeed, he could give the tablet to Terry.

For Hill, what was precious was the knowledge on the tablet, not the tablet itself.

List nodded; he would convey this to Terry, knowing of course that given Hill’s nature, once he knew the real connection between the tablet and Terry, he would not be stingy.

Suddenly, a huge explosion sounded from the east, and Hill couldn’t resist walking to the window to look.

The Undead Tribe had struck.
