Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 756: Chapter 555 The Hidden Murderous Intent in Toril World

Gulanba put his hands on his hips and paced rumblingly on the platform, his ruby-like eyes sparkling nonstop.

By nature, he did not like change, being down-to-earth, and he truly could not understand why Hill, a Son of the Earth, carried a foul odor and liked to live midair!

He felt his views did not align with Hill’s, so he did not want to make a contract with him.

As for eternal neutrality, the neutrality of an element was just so-so, unless facing a true enemy—how else could he prevent people from using earth magic?

He so detested magic ships, yet he had never taken the initiative to act against them.

Gulanba knew in his heart that he might not be so lucky next time to encounter a summoner so friendly to elemental spirits.

All Hill needed them for was to protect the safety of the city; he had no intention of binding their wills, and if there were no matters to attend to, the elemental spirits were free to wander around the city.

Returning to the Elemental Realm was just a thought away.

Such security and freedom were not something that mages who summoned elemental spirits could provide.

The mages of Ferun Great Land, after summoning an earth elemental, their first reaction was always to try to bind them permanently—these stingy folks always hoped to ensnare an earth elemental’s entire life with just a gemstone!

What wishful thinking! Gulanba would rather spend a great deal of time each year freeing those deceived unfortunate souls than let the mages have their way.

But to some extent, Hill was truly powerful.

Gulanba was well aware that many elements summoned to the Main World aimed to sneak away and play freely on the land, but not one here could leave the range of the Puzzle Lock, including those water elementals.

Although Hill did not limit Gulanba’s movements, Gulanba could feel that many restrictions were imposed on him and that there were some places even he could not enter.

He had carefully analyzed Hill’s strength; if going by the terms of Ferun, this demigod sorcerer was at least level 39.

If this fellow was hiding his depths, level 40 would be quite normal.

That was almost Lower Rank Divine Power!

Hill also possessed divinity; he must simply lack the interest in becoming a deity, otherwise, he could become a god in any world.

Gulanba could also understand that many mages felt that divinity was a restriction for them.

While spells related to divinity would skyrocket, other spells would weaken or even become unusable.

He glanced sideways at Hill, who was communicating with Terry, and suddenly thought, although their philosophies differed, Hill was very qualified to be his contractor as the God of the Earth!

A mage equivalent to Lower Rank Divine Power, yet maintaining courtesy and respect for all deities—as the God of the Elements, what was he waiting for?

Was he supposed to wait until Istizia, the God of Water Elementals, and Akadi, the God of Air Elementals, came running next time to compete for business?

Especially Akadi! If that damn vortex got ahead of him, Gulanba felt he could fly to the sky!

Absolutely not!

Gulanba’s eyes shone with a red light, and he could not be coy any longer! Hill was the only one among them as Gods of the Elements who was pleasing to the eye in the Toril World.

They were not truly as indifferent to Toril as legend had it; they were actually quite interested in this unpredictable world.

But the origin of this world was truly terrifying.

The Tablets of Fate and AO, every major event they caused seemed to result in heavy casualties only among the gods and people of Toril, but in reality, they were always trying to strengthen the origin by using these foreign deities.

Every turmoil that caused countless lives to perish would add some new momentum to the world’s origin.

Like the Elf God Coron, if he hadn’t reacted quickly enough and been ruthless enough, had he been lured to Toril by the massive perishing of elves and used his divine powers extensively, then he would have been changed into the exclusive god of elves for Toril.

Instead, like now, he has remained detached from the control of the Tablets of Fate, occasionally still managing to trouble that broken tablet and AO.

The God of Justice, Tyr, couldn’t control himself; his companions and subordinates perished in Toril, and as long as he wished to resurrect them, he could only bind himself to the Stellar Realm of that world.

With such a dismal fate, who could lack a sense of vigilance?

The Elemental Gods had no desire to transform themselves into exclusive deities for this world.

The greatest advantage of Hill was his firm will, his avoidance of outspoken meddling in the world of Toril due to its obvious power and freedom, right?

Gulanba made up his mind, bent down, and said in a deep voice, ”Hill, let us sign an alliance contract.”

Hill let out a surprised ’Ah?’ and looked bewilderedly at Terry, thinking he had misheard.

But he quickly snapped back to reality, for Hill could not have heard a hallucinatory voice.

He flew up until he was eye level with Gulanba and asked solemnly, ”Respected Lord of Earth Elementals, may I ask why you have changed your mind?

After all, you are a mighty divine power, and I do not see anything in myself that could be of such significance to you.”

Gulanba ’haha’ laughed twice, his voice resembling the collision of rocks, ”The world of Toril is actually very attractive to the deities of other worlds.

But it also inflicts great harm.

Although the Elemental Realm is very interested in this place, no element is willing to use its essence to replenish what Toril consumes.

As gods of the elements, of course, we are even less willing.

That’s why we don’t like dealing with the people of this world.

But you are different, Hill, you are determined to return to your original world, right? I can feel it, your detachment from this world, even if you stay here for hundreds of years, you would be someone who can easily disentangle yourself.”

Hill nodded blankly, this wasn’t the first time he felt the vigilance of those deities against Toril, whose believers were spread throughout a vast universe.

He suddenly remembered something, when the gods of Toril were cast down to the Prime Material Plane, walking the continent in their saintly forms, the Four Elemental Gods still had priests.

But after the Years of Turmoil ended, Tyr completely aligned himself with AO, and there were no longer any priests in the churches of the elements, only pure priests.

Priests are needed to preach and promote the doctrines of the deities, whereas priests only need to worship the Main God sincerely.

The elemental gods, originally with mighty divine power, gradually disappeared from the sight of the Toril people, until now even regarded as beings with lower rank divine power.

Was it because they had discovered Toril’s devouring of foreign deities?

Hill nodded, ”I can sign an alliance contract with you, but first there’s something I need to make clear, if the Goddess of Wind, Akadi, wishes to sign a contract with me, I absolutely will not refuse.”

Gulanba’s stone head tilted, ”Ah! It’s quite normal for elements to fight each other! Fire and water also come to blows. Our hostility is only functional, not about actually killing each other.

That would be impossible.

The moment I saw you, I detected the strong scent of wind upon you.

But your innate attribute is earth, and that’s enough for me.”

Hill agreed straightforwardly, ”Then, of course, I will agree. My world is also connected to the Elemental Realm.”

Gulanba happily condensed a piece of Silk Agate, and Hill could sense the content within, the bond it imposed on both parties was actually very minimal.

However, Gulanba also understood that Hill did not want the elements he summoned to go other places in this world, as it would easily involve Hill in matters he shouldn’t be a part of, so he promised not to leave the vicinity of Agleya City within 3 kilometers, which for an Earth Elemental God standing over 8 meters tall, was already very restrained.

Of course, when he appeared here, he would help Hill fend off external attacks.

In return, Hill would need to pay him 100 pieces of Silk Agate or Jade each year.

For the Lord of Earth Elementals who could easily move the veins of the earth, this was indeed a very modest compensation.

Hill signed the contract with Gulanba very readily.

”Hm?” Gulanba sensed the two lordly marks in Hill’s Mental Sea, ”Your place has already become a corner of the Elemental Realm, huh! How did those two Earth Element lords end up staying in such a desolate place? Aren’t they afraid of dying of boredom?

No wonder they signed a contract with you as well.”

Gulanba completely ignored the other two marks.

Having signed the contract and feeling like he was now one of the locals who could go for a stroll, Gulanba decided to take a walk. He hadn’t properly looked at the new city yet!

He nodded at Hill, then said goodbye to Terry loudly, ”Little Golden Dragon! Let’s continue playing ball tomorrow!”

”It’s your turn to buy the ball!” Terry quickly responded, ”The ones I bought have all shattered!”

Gulanba agreed repeatedly while sinking into the ground.

Terry, who had learned of the recent developments from Hill, asked somewhat anxiously, ”I can’t keep hiding forever, can I? I still have business to do!”

There wasn’t actually any safety issue for Terry, he and Hill were eternal friends, and by nature, he had a green name with the Undead Tribe, the only trouble was that many people would surround him to gawk, as there were no dragons in Teraxil and those in Felunryel were enemies.

”They just like to crowd around and watch, there’s no hostility,” Hill reassured him, ”If their words make you uncomfortable, cast a spell of auditory pause on yourself.

As long as you don’t react, they will give up soon enough.

However, if you act like a cute boy, they will probably crowd around you forever.

But there’s also a benefit, the ’Teraxil Elves’ are very wealthy, they will definitely be willing to buy a few more drinks for your smile.

You can put out those most expensive cocktails for sale!”

Terry’s pupils quaked, as he fell into a deep dilemma.

Money and face seemed to turn into illusory little men, racing atop his head at high speeds.

Before Hill could count to ten inwardly, Terry’s voice rose, ”So what if I’m looked at! What’s there to be afraid of! My work is more important!”
