Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 778: Chapter 577: Terry’s Bell, Lansendel’s Feather

Hill said angrily, ”How could the Undead possibly touch the walls of Agleya City while I’m still alive?

And what were the countries they passed through doing?

How could they know nothing?”

This city has been established in the name of the Sea God Agleya and naturally has the blessings of the Water God.

After all, without the permissions of the Deities, one couldn’t even dig the foundation to build a city in the name of a god, let alone build it without getting struck by lightning.

As the City Lord, Hill also imparted a portion of his power to the city, so Agleya City inherently possesses some of the natural and water powers, which are highly detrimental to the Undead.

That is the reason Hill is not worried at all.

Unless Bane himself intervened, sending some high-level thieves and assassins like from Sanlin Tower might at most cause slight chaos among the Undead and the guards of the Elf City, but it wouldn’t pose any serious trouble.

Where would Bane even have time to spare right now, as he is being hunted by the God of Battle, Tampas!

What truly baffles Hill is, who assisted the Santalin Meeting in concealing their movements all this way? It’s been so long, so many bodies, so many cities and countries, how could there have been no news at all?

Yet so many Undead were able to suddenly appear outside Agleya City, and this is not something that even a powerful Divine Force could achieve.

In all those countries they passed through, imagine how many Temples and intelligence organizations there are!

Hill even couldn’t help but look back at the Harpist Building, then shook his head and let go of his suspicions.

The grudge between the Harpists and the Santalin could never end; it’s not just about the stance between Bane and the Orderly Good Deities, important figures such as princes and lords from the Santalin died at the hands of a Harpist.

Especially the current lord of the Santir Fortress, who has disabilities thanks to a certain influential Harpist!

In Toril, even a feud for killing one’s parents can be forgiven, and the hatred between the gods one believes in does not hinder secret plots, but only one’s improvement in strength makes one an eternal enemy.

Hill doesn’t think they would reconcile.

Would it be something at the level of Deities, perhaps to accelerate the state of things for the resurrection of Baal, adding trouble to the already troubled Mystra, with Shaer and Jacob, the first Master of Death, working together?

Jacob, indeed, is very dissatisfied with the mixed feelings that the fourth God of Death, Kelemvor whom he had chosen, has towards Mystra, and would indeed interfere.

After all, even a cunning figure like Jacob, facing a stubborn Kelemvor, could only shift him from Orderly Good to Orderly Neutral, and he probably didn’t anticipate how difficult it would be for someone to abandon their firmly held goodness and morals.

Kelemvor, even as the God of Death, still remained not very clever, but kind, just, straightforward, sincere, yet very stern. Jacob appreciated him, so he was willing to watch his favorite make foolish mistakes.

Kelemvor indeed became Orderly Neutral as Jacob wished, but Jacob couldn’t stop this fourth generation God of Death, who had chosen death as hisFeature, from frequently sending his avatars into the Bottomless Abyss to go on killing sprees.

Jacob couldn’t handle his own foolish pup, so his anger naturally turned towards Midnight, who always managed to drive the foolish pup mad.

As for Shaer, she doesn’t need any reason to go against Mystra.

Or perhaps... Hill silently pondered, knowing how horrifying his suspicion was, yet he still couldn’t shake off that lingering notion:

Would AO really do something so insane just to fulfill the prophecy on the Tablets of Fate?

Even if Santalin is doomed to be abandoned by humans due to their alliance with demons, and eventually destroyed by the Prince of Shade Soul City after being abandoned by all allies, the fate mentioned there is entirely different from what’s happening now.

They’ve offended not just some people, but everyone.

If offending the survivors of Shade Soul City means they could rise again after being utterly annihilated, stirring up the current mess leaves Santalin with no grave to rest in.

Even if Bane, chased down to the point of being helpless to manage his affairs, wouldn’t his followers suddenly go mad?

Could it be that some lord at Santir Fortress was possessed by Baal?

If so, it might be possible since Baal, before showing his true colors as the ultimate boss behind the scenes, was eliminated by Hill. Turning to another follower of the God of Death is indeed something he would do.

He definitely wouldn’t mind using Bane’s name to do his own deeds.

Framing Bane and then resurrecting with style— for Baal, that would be too perfect.

Remember that Bane himself had killed all the murderers who worshipped Baal for his own resurrection.

Though Bane himself revived, the equally scheming Baal was still wandering the Stellar Realm.

Hill suddenly stood up. Tyr’s Divine Warhammer had already been nullified by the Shadow Guard, but those Shadow Mages couldn’t muster the strength to continue blowing the Wolf-Tearing Horn either.

Hill didn’t know why Tyr’s Paladins were so furious, but he knew very well what was going on inside.

Now they were investigating the situation over there, and if the battle went poorly, they were ready to run.

Hill stared at the whispering Shadow Mages, slowly and silently gathering ice swords in his hands.

If before this incident, Hill merely wanted them to scram, now he desired their lives!

The Dimensional Gate of the Otherworldly Whale was always accurately positioned; it might very well open right into Santalin’s headquarters.

They were carrying a Divine Artifact! They certainly wouldn’t dare to place the other side of the gate in the wilderness; it must be in that half-plane of Bishop of Bane!

People from the Church of Bane inherently possess the trait of betrayal, the reason they were entrusted with this task is because there’s an Eye Demon in that half-plane capable of brainwashing.

These Shadow Mages essentially had no thoughts of their own anymore.

Otherwise, the result of letting normal followers of the Church of Bane handle a Divine Artifact would only result in them slaughtering each other before fleeing with it.

Hill gathered the ice swords one by one, the study filled with a cold and solemn aura.

List, too, concentrated hard on the opposite side, the control Crystal Ball of the Floating Castle floating beside him. He needed to open the window quickly when the Otherworldly Whale began chanting.

Their resolve was indeed quick; the eastern battlefield was still intense when they thought of fleeing.

Probably because they felt Tyr would go mad.

The furious roar of the paladins from the Silver Shield was so loud that it could be heard clearly even from afar. Undisturbed necromancers, you’ve meddled with the tomb of a Just Knight’s spirit.

It was a Legendary Paladin who died in battle against invading demons years ago at Saint Daba.

Hill recalled that Saint Daba was a circular fortress city, essentially a military bulwark. The graveyard seemed to be on a hill far from the city.

Because of volcanic fissures at the base of Saint Daba, their farms and forests were a bit distant, whereas here in Toril, graveyards are either pristine solemn marbles or modest stones surrounded by shady trees and grass.

The paladins of Tyr never liked luxury, so they usually just buried their comrades simply at the places where they fought.

However, Hill guessed that they would take this matter more seriously from now on. After all, no one expected the necromancers to be so audacious! To think that the paladins of Tyr, once they declare someone as a mortal enemy, the entire world’s followers of Tyr would fight these people to the death.

Hill didn’t know what others thought, but after learning about this, he couldn’t help but glance at the adjacent forest, feeling fortunate for the first time to have received the blessings of the Elven Pantheon.

Undead, for strong individuals, actually weren’t too difficult to deal with, but seeing familiar faces gruesomely emerging from the ground was a significant blow to anyone.

Hill felt he could understand the frenzied behavior of that demigod.

Based on age and time calculations, that unfortunate paladin might have been his own comrade, with whom he had fought side by side in the past.

Hill’s Crystal Fan was ready.

The window in front of him suddenly opened, and Hill listened intently to the sound waves that ordinary people couldn’t hear.

Then, as the chanting was about to end, he swiftly shot out several long swords.

The Shadow Mages weren’t fools; they knew Hill definitely wouldn’t let them leave so easily, so they used the last of their strength to summon a Shadow Shield when the long swords were shot.

Though the Shadow Energy Core provided limitless Shadow Magic Power, their spiritual power was limited.

Their Shadow Shields soon vanished under the attack of the swords glowing with white radiant light. Still, the Shadow Mages felt smug; the Dimensional Gate was already open, and just as the Otherworldly Whale’s mouth was about to close, they were safe.

They hadn’t noticed that a small golden bell flew over along with the long swords.

So when that terrifying sound erupted, the Shadow Mages were caught off guard and spat out directly from the mouth of the frenzied Otherworldly Whale.

With the last of their willpower, they clung to the Shadow Energy Core.

This was something they could never lose. Even if they perished here, the Divine Artifact absolutely couldn’t be left behind!

Then they were pierced by dozens of ice swords that flew in shortly after.

The ice swords were swift and strong, and although they pierced their bodies, they also carried them through the Dimensional Gate.

The Shadow Mages passed out with relief.

Their timing in losing consciousness was quite fortunate; they didn’t hear their master’s panicked shout, ”Damn it! What is this?” followed by a violent explosion.

The Plane Gate closed amidst the terrible explosion.

Hill looked at the peacock feather at hand; indeed, although the spells carried by the long swords were random, if there were influential raw materials nearby, it easily incorporated the power of those materials.

The power of Lansendel, not necessarily strong in warding off evil, was absolutely top-notch in causing destruction.

Hill flew down directly, knocking unconscious the Otherworldly Whale that tried to attack him, under the angry gaze of Terry rushing down in fury, and picked up the golden bell on the ground.
