Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 785: Chapter 584: The Premature Prophecy of Doom for Santir Fortress

Coron finished his work and went back to the Alchemy Hall to entertain himself again, and Hill really started to see this ancestor in a new light.

When Hill was erecting the memorial monument, he must have heard the discussions of the Undead Tribe and knew what Hill wanted to do, but he could have chosen not to intervene.

Not to mention that Elven graveyards are in the forest and each is planted with a tree, over the years becoming one with the trees, it was impossible for them to appear among these Undead.

Coron did this just to give Hill a hand.

The Paladins of Tyr also led their horses out of the graveyard, they walked a long distance before mounting their horses again, with determined expressions they looped back to the Temple, presumably to prepare their gear, ready to join their Main God’s call to arms.

The Undead, who had been squatting outside to watch for a long time, started waving at Hill, indicating they had just been stopped by Coron. Now, they just wanted to know if they could come in to take a look.

Although they knew it was a graveyard, wasn’t there a monument square next to it! They were so eager to see Coron’s engravings!

Listening to their tumultuous and chaotic questions, Hill hurriedly waved his hands for them to quiet down, and then he spoke, ”You can come into the square freely, but please don’t visit those two graveyards over there.

Unless you are Silvermoon Devotees or Believers of the God of Justice from Toril, otherwise entering there will get you burned or struck by lightning.

Please respect the deities’ majesty, everyone, and save face for yourselves!”

The Undead looked at each other, of course, they had Silvermoon Devotees, but those they followed were the ones from Teraxil.

For those from Toril, there was absolutely no space to convert, even if there was, most of them felt they would not be able to withstand it, even as Undead.

As for Tyr, there was even less to talk about, although the Name of God was different from William’s, there were many similarities in their Divinity, and the God of Time and Space would not give anyone the chance to harm William.

When the Undead Tribe was changing their form and Profession, these two were not within the available options.

Although the Undead agreed obediently in front of Hill, he did not believe they would really listen, he had just put the ugly words out in front up front.

So, on the way back to the Floating Castle, even though he heard the cries of agony mixed with the flash of lightning and roar of thunder behind him, he did not look back.

Those who bring ruin upon themselves do not deserve to be saved.

Lynn had already started directing the refugees to return to their homes in Agleya City, as those houses truly belonged to them.

There seemed to be no real poor among the residents here, as every family basically got their own house after Hill allowed them to use goods as money.

Moreover, some slightly wealthier families outright bought another set nearby for their children.

Since ancient times, in every world, the hearts of parents are much the same.

However, Hill did not understand why these Believers of Tyr wanted to settle here permanently, as the Silver Shield Knights could not possibly be stationed in Agleya City all the time.

These branches of the Righteous Knights could be called up to fight demons on the main battlefield at any moment.

Hill looked down from mid-air for a while.

The city dwellers below who were moving houses quickly spotted their City Lord, saluting him according to their status or even some kneeling on the ground.

From their unceasing praises, Hill could hear out that Lynn had already informed these people that he had agreed to turn the original residential area into a complete refuge.

In the future, whatever happens, without needing Hill’s permission, Municipal Officers can direct the civilians to take shelter!

”You don’t have to thank me,” said Hill indifferently. ”Thank your devoted mayor! It was his suggestion.”

The citizens hesitated for a second before adding praise for the helpful Lynn to their adoration of Hill.

Lynn listened without changing his expression, and when he turned around, he sent Hill a ’you see’ look.

He had long told Hill not to try to elevate his status, as the people of Toril always knew whose bread they were eating and wouldn’t mistake who was sheltering them.

Those who might have been confused wouldn’t have lived to move into Agleya City.

Hill was not particularly concerned with these matters. The residents here in Agleya City, other than the family members of the Holy Knights of Tyr, there weren’t any that were truly vulnerable, including the elderly and children.

What they couldn’t resist was not the beasts and a few Undead outside, but the terrible disasters.

In the Toril World, disasters often meant the destruction of one or even several cities.

Deities included, whether kind or evil, appearing together was never a good thing.

Only if the City Lord is strong enough can he preserve the city and its residents amid these endless disasters.

Hill probably could never understand just how many people were desperate to move into Agleya City, and how grateful those who had moved in were for their wise decision.

On the Toril Continent, if talking about the strength of a City Lord, indeed there were some who could be compared with Hill, but such people did not necessarily mean they would be good to their citizens.

People were willing to endure those days because, in the eyes of most, being alive was the most important thing.

The strong never looked down.

Hill thought of himself as indifferent, but he could see those deemed inferior by the strong.

In Toril, that was enough; people didn’t need the City Lord to be all smiles and politeness. Treating commoners as humans was already a rare miracle.

The last one to do so was Elaströ.

But the binds on Elaströ were too heavy, and Silvermoon City was not entirely hers.

Many didn’t understand why Elaströ gave up her position as the Lord of Silvermoon to become the Supreme Lady of the Silvermoon Alliance, a nearly impossible feat. Besides her noble heart, it also had to do with the fact that the Goddess of Magic no longer trusted her as her predecessor did, no longer listening to her every command.

She needed more allies to protect her Silvermoon City.

As for Hill, him just standing here was enough.

Whether it was allies among the gods or the formidable number of ’Teraxil Elves’ below, they ensured Agleya City’s unshakable status in the future.

Moreover, what was most admirable about Hill was that he also respected the dead.

Hill was probably the only legendary master in this world who would be willing to leave a lasting memorial for those innocent civilians who died tragically, not even caring whether they had any faith or not.

Lynn had always wondered why Hill had such a gentle nature. He was clearly a proud child of the heavens, born into nobility with extraordinary talents.

However, from the ’Teraxil Elves,’ one could see a hint. No matter how unconventional their characters, their motives were never too extreme, and they could always appreciate the beauty of the landscape and the loveliness of animals.

Hill, who didn’t understand any of this, faced a sea of praises from below. He could only nod his head coldly, letting them go about their business, and he returned straight to his Floating Castle.

List hurried up to him: ”A message from the Harpist Building. The Goddess of the Silvermoon has blown up the Santir Fortress in the Ainoak Desert.”

”Why there? Is there something special about that place?” Hill paced uneasily on the balcony.

”The bath is ready, sir,” List quickly told Hill, who was clearly uncomfortable. He knew exactly what Hill would feel.

As far as Hill was concerned, after coming into contact with the dead or having swept tombs, one should bathe upon returning home.

It was like how bathing was obligatory on Tomb-Sweeping Day.

Even though he had cleansed himself with a Cleansing Spell, Hill still felt uncomfortable everywhere and immediately rushed to the bathroom.

Only when he settled into the warm water did List begin to explain why Suren attacked the fortress: ”The purpose of that fortress was actually to protect a mine called Theseria that was located there.

The Theseria mine was crucial for the Santalin Meeting. Not only could it extract coal from the desert, but also Mithril Ore from the nearby Desert Mouth Mountains.

It was one of their sources of income.

But more importantly, the guards they left behind in the Mithril mine were Felin Magic Mallows.”

Hill’s head shot up. Opposite the Desert Mouth Mountains was the Crescent Peak Mountain Range by Shadow Lake, where the inhabitants of Shadow Soul City had emerged after leaving the Shadow Realm.

”The people of Shadow Soul City...”

”The Prince of Shadow Soul City, having failed to seize the Naish scroll, has dragged the remnants of his Floating City back to Shadow Lake and begun building on Crescent Peak.

Last night when Suren blew up the fortress, she also destroyed the mine. The Princes of the Shadow Souls, perched high above, could not have missed seeing the Felin Magic Mallows jumping out of the Moonfire.

The Harpist especially emphasized that under the moonlight, those demons were clearly visible.”

Hill thought indifferently, this was truly striking the snake at its vital point!

Actually, the most well-informed in the Toril probably should be Suren, and she was quite willing to wander around. Some things she simply chose not to manage, not that she was unaware.

Unless shrouded in Dark Arts forever, some secrets simply couldn’t be kept from this Lady of Moonlight.

Having offended one of the most fearsome goddesses in the world, the existence of Santalin was already on a countdown to demise.

Hill vaguely remembered that the real destruction of Santalin should have been after Mystra’s first fall, when Toril’s landmass was stirred. Hidden underground, Felin Magic Mallow was of course exposed to the eyes of the world.

The living members of Shadow Soul City were powerful arcanists. The destruction and reformation of the Weave did not greatly affect them, and by that time, they had also created a Floating Castle. When the Felin Magic Mallows were spewed out with the crust, they truly came face to face with the Princes of the Shadow Souls who watched the chaos unfold.

The result was that Shadow Soul City, despite the terrible cost of losing a prince, completely destroyed both the Santalin Meeting and their supporting Santir Fortress.

Now, they were collapsing a full ten years early!

Hill slapped the water surface, gleefully saying, ”Go tell Lynn to see if we can up the stakes, since neither side are any good anyway.”
