Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 754: Chapter 553: Dwarves and Gnomes from Felunryel

Lynn knew he had no means at his disposal either.

In matters related to deities, especially among the powerful divine forces, everyone was merely powerless spectators.

The only consolation was that, with Hill’s strength, many lives here could be saved.

He diverted his thoughts back to reality, just as Hill had said, there was still time. The better he helped Hill build Agleya City, the more likely he could persuade his cousins, who still harbored ambitions.

The elders were alright; wherever they were, they had ways to save their own lives.

Lynn was somewhat worried about the future of University Town; he frowned and asked, ”Hill, I didn’t see a Magic Academy. Surely we can’t build a comprehensive university town and exclude mages, right?”

”It just appears absent. After all, most mages can’t directly become teachers. Those who can ignore Mystra’s dissatisfaction are either beyond our pay grade or enemies of the elves,” Hill tapped the paper bag, ”Elves have their own magic and runes. Gnomes and dwarves have their exclusive mana patterns courses.

Especially dwarves, they even offer courses on weapon and armor crafting, alloy and blending agent refining.

Human mages, after all, don’t necessarily mean followers of Mystra.

They believe more in the God of Knowledge and the Deity of Mages, but that’s just belief.”

Lynn was curious, ”What exactly did Coron catch on the dwarves?”

”It’s not really leverage,” Hill sighed, ”In the world I was in before I came to Toril, you might have heard of it, it’s called Felunryel.”

Lynn’s eyes widened, ”You escaped from that collapsed Star Gate?

Your close relationship with Tyr’s paladins, did you save them in the nebula vortex? Miliel said they were almost trapped to death by the Chromatic Dragon Queen and her Red Dragon consort.”

Hill couldn’t help but lift his head, staring at Lynn, who had let slip in laughter, getting a clearer understanding of Miliel’s gossip abilities.

”At that time, humans and other races there were abducted by the giant dragon and turned into followers of various false gods.

Only elves escaped early because Coron found out in time. Back then, he didn’t know what those two dragons were up to, even thought they had discovered a new world and wanted to keep it for fun.

With Coron’s temperament, he wouldn’t likely meddle with other races’ affairs.

If it hadn’t been for Coron later observing ’Teraxil Elves’ in some strange worlds, he wouldn’t have realized what Felunryel was up to.

I remember Miliel was also involved in this matter. You should know the inside story, right?”

Seeing Lynn nod, Hill shook his head and smiled, ”Those false gods, once stripped down, are just willing to fully obey that Red Dragon, surrendering their souls completely and granted false divinity.

That stuff, though it sounds impressive, is utterly meaningless, even less useful than a divine artifact.

However, there are always some strong individuals, capable enough and smart enough, who realize the world isn’t as they thought.

While the bravely resistant were killed, the cunning escapees were simply seen as crops to be harvested periodically.

But there are always some who manage to maintain second place in their tribes.

Among the dwarves, there was one:

His forging abilities were strong, but not as good as the God of Smithing. His combat skills were decent, but he was outmatched by the God of Defense and the War God.

Then he liked to hide in Melting Furnace Mountain forging, often forgetting to appear, eventually simply watching as other more diligent kin snatched positions like the God of Exploration.”

Lynn quickly focused on one point, ”God of Smithing? Even Moradin, who uses a hammer and anvil as a sigil, wouldn’t call himself that.”

”The Red Dragon would dare not use Moradin’s name! Occasionally saying it is one thing, but to continuously call him that over time would definitely draw Moradin’s attention,” Hill laughed, ”But a chief dwarf god in a small world, even if impersonating, wouldn’t dare claim he was Moradin in other worlds, always substituting with ’God of Smithing.’

Actually, the Red Dragon wasn’t wrong; it shows he’s been to many worlds.”

Lynn nodded, ”This clever dwarf seems to have quite the extraordinary identity.”

Hill lamented, ”Brainwashed from childhood, how could a normal person easily come to their senses? Even if they discovered something amiss, managing to secretly escape is smart enough.

Of course, he could act so flawlessly because of his innate ancestral memories!

Moreover, during the ravaging of Felunryel, he along with his trusted subordinates completely sealed themselves inside his own great furnace.

When everything ended, he cleverly hired ’Teraxil Elves’ directly, wanting to take his people back to Ferun.

Unfortunately, he had bad luck, and the Star Gate exploded.

It was only when Coron went to repair the gate and heard about him from the leader of the ’Teraxil Elves,’ that he sent him directly to the Home of the Dwarves where Moradin resides.”

It’s likely that in some time, a group of Dwarves will come here, those crazy Felunryel Dwarves who trust him, they could only end up with us.

”The stone houses near the Sword Mountain Range in the blueprints must be prepared for them.”

”Entered straight into the Divine Realm of the Dwarves?” Lynn had completely forgotten the reality that these Dwarves were eventually to be under his supervision and was solely focused on this gossip about the Dwarf Gods, ”Descendant of who? Moradin? That can’t be? Isn’t it said that he is still quite loyal to the Dwarven Goddess of Home and Hearth?”

Hill, seeing Lynn’s face full of curiosity, couldn’t help but laugh. Lynn, with his penchant for becoming a Bard, naturally had a gossipy nature.

He shook his head: ”Definitely not Moradin! When the Red Dragon caused trouble, it just so happened that his twin sons, Dicaraze and Dilinca, were stirring up a big mess.

You know, Moradin being so protective, even when the God of the Gray Dwarves caused so much trouble, he only exiled him and not banished him.

Instead, his own biological sons were directly expelled from the entire Dwarf Deity System.

If those incidents hadn’t occurred, the Red Dragon would not have been able to take away so many children from under the noses of the Dwarf Gods.

I presume that at that time, the Chromatic Dragon Queen hadn’t fallen yet! The power of that Red Dragon must also have been at its peak.”

Otherwise, she wouldn’t have feared that the hatching dragon egg would become her enemy.

Her essence later became a bit weaker; otherwise, she also wouldn’t have gritted her teeth and acknowledged herself as having Lower Rank Divine Power.”

Lynn couldn’t help but laugh: ”Technically, her Divine Power indeed isn’t high, it’s her essence that’s powerful.”

Hill sighed: ”The Dwarf Goddess of Love and Fertility, Shelindra, isn’t she the one who with the Stone Rams God, Tapon, had the Goddess of Reproduction and Stone Rams, Hexalier?

They didn’t even notice themselves that a spirit essence, due to poor development, wasn’t born at that time. Later, when the Supreme Forest experienced unrest, it drifted away, unexpectedly eventually being born from the body of an ordinary Dwarf.”

After some thought, Lynn realized. Tapon, the God of Stone Rams, essentially represents the forest’s spirit, and their way of reproducing is more like a blending of spirits rather than any physical contact.

Initially when the two got together and had Hexalier, it was mainly to fulfill the requirements of divinity, never expecting such a ridiculous occurrence.

Two gods related to reproduction, yet they failed to notice they had another son, forcing him to suffer until he could be born from the body of an ordinary Dwarf.

Such a child, though still from their lineage, could only be considered as skipping a generation.”

Lynn showed a satisfied smile: ”I’ll take care of these poor Dwarves.”

”There might be some Gnomes too,” Hill told him, ”That dragon... almost exactly copied the Gnome Pantheon. So, some Gnomes, nurtured as followers of a benign deity system, after this year or two of re-nurturing, were also recognized by the Gnome Pantheon.

Names being the same, they really are devout.”

Lynn couldn’t help but scratch his head: ”That Red Dragon, does it hate the Dragon Slaying Triad?”

Hill shrugged: ”Probably, that’s what Coron thinks too. Gnomes, in this regard, are too unrestrained; Coron himself has collected quite a few stories from that deity system, saying he even spent a few days reading them out loud facing the Golden Hillocks where the Gnome Pantheon resides.

Well... though he didn’t say why, at least I know, a couple of issues with Rose leading to their falling out originated from those stories crafted by the Gnomes.

Though Rose and their son wanted to overturn Coron’s rule, it was due to ambition.

It had nothing to do with any nonsensical emotions.

Elves are naturally very liberal in this regard, and at the time, Rose also had her own lovers.”

Coron felt, even if it were Rose, she wouldn’t want anyone thinking that she went crazy just because she couldn’t get Coron’s love.”

Lynn nodded in agreement.

Being the subject of constant mockery from the Gnomes, the Elves also found the Red Dragon’s actions quite typical.

Whether humans or Elves, in the words of the Gnomes, are either useless big buffoons or fools with only long ears.”

Hill, seeing Lynn slightly worried, said: ”Don’t worry about these new Gnomes causing trouble, on the ’Teraxil Elves’ territory they definitely won’t dare show their true nature.

The consequences of a sharp tongue, they know how harsh it can be.

As quick-witted and cutting as Gnome insults can be, they aren’t a patch on the ’Teraxil Elves’. They will definitely be much more restrained.”

Lynn hesitantly said, ”Hearing you say this, why don’t I feel reassured?”

”At least the ’Teraxil Elves’ won’t be entering University Town to study,” Hill reassured, ”They might be curious and look around, but they definitely won’t enter and get stuck indoors.

I’ve seen the University Town requirements; the Temporal Artifact clearly states that a student must remain inside for more than a year to meet the entrance standards.

If there really are ’Teraxil Elves’ that love studying, they won’t cause too much trouble.”
