Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 399: Chapter 198 Crafty and Cunning, Ruthless and Merciless!

Spencer had filled the table with snacks and then gently closed the door behind him, not wanting to overhear too many secrets.

William felt that the president of the Mage Association genuinely didn’t care about the Mage Kingdom he had tirelessly maintained for over one hundred thousand years.

Having spoken harshly, Draculus was now questioning Fran about how to acquire such tea.

Fran, unsure of what might happen and worried about the president’s impulsiveness, had specifically made him tea using the leaves of a high-level magical plant that Hill had given to Fran.

The magical plants in Hill Valley seemed to have mostly reached the legendary rank, all pretty vicious.

Only Hill found them adorable.

Adrian would make trades with these plants every so often, feeling like he had made a huge profit.

However, when Hill visited after becoming legendary, he nearly got scared to death.

Magical plants of legendary rank filled the hills and valleys.

No one knew how Hill managed to cultivate them.

What’s more terrifying is, perhaps because advancing in the early stages was too difficult, when they reached legendary status, there were no extraordinary signs from heaven and earth; they simply ascended quietly.

Indeed, even at a high level, magical plants prefer not to leave the place where they have rooted. If there were signs, it would be like telling humans or magical beasts, ’Come on, there’s something delicious waiting here for you.’

But to kill a magical plant, many people need to strike together and kill it instantly; otherwise, although they provide good things to Hill, they can quickly turn themselves into poison.

Even if legendary, they can poison fatally.

A single legendary magical plant found alone is just an easy target.

With so many, even the deities would worry about their survival.

In the wilderness, the dangers are not just from magical beasts.

Adrian returned and told Fran that there was no need to worry about the security of Hill’s valley anymore.

After visiting Hill’s cloud ship, Fran also felt that he could go anywhere to play.

The cloud ship seemed to have only defensive capabilities, but in addition to the windmill jasmine and lily of the valley, Hill also placed many branches of legendary magical plants in the corners.

Moreover, Fran had no idea what Hill had hidden inside the pendant around his neck.

Knowing it was specially made by Hill, Draculus clicked his tongue, ”Those idiots, afraid to offend elves, yet dare to provoke a Nature Warlock. I knew they were going to be unlucky as soon as I found out.

Nature Warlock! Those who are enemies with him, you can’t imagine how unlucky they are!

Someone the Spirit of Nature doesn’t dare to interfere with, yet they dare to trouble a Nature Warlock!

Do they think they are an Abyssal Evil God or a Great Demon?

Any person not beyond the World Rules would daringly disturb Nature’s Darling, and any outcome would be typical.

And it even affects me, making it impossible to enjoy a good cup of tea.”

Fran remained silent.

Thinking that he would give away his share, that was a dream.

In Hill’s valley, there are only so many magical plant leaves that can be made into tea.

Moreover, Hill would only use the leaves given to him by the magical plants themselves, never harvesting them on his own.

With only a few jars available each year, he wouldn’t just give them away to anyone.

After thinking it over, William realized he only had one jar himself, which he had bought for a hefty price.

This stuff, even deities can’t do anything about it; the leaves willingly given by magical plants are not something just anyone can obtain.

He remembered that sometimes Adrian would make trades with the magical plants in Hill’s Domain, and the tea made from the branches and fruits he acquired, although not as top-quality as those Hill had, was still quite good.

But having gotten used to the tea from Hill, he couldn’t stand the kind from Adrian’s hands.

It was still better than the herbal tea from before in this world, which was terribly unpalatable.

”Adrian has some of the less premium stuff, not as good, but better than that bitter brew you all usually drink. You can ask him to buy some,” William bluntly told Draculus, ”What we have are personally made by Hill from the finest essence of legendary magical plants, something no one else can get. Stop dreaming, no one will sell it to you.”

Draculus smiled helplessly, ”Ah! Who knew there’d be something even I couldn’t obtain!”

William looked at him, truly a long-lived one, speaking with such confidence.

”What about that woman? Isn’t she your confidante?” William also poured himself a cup of tea, which was, coming from Fran’s reserves, slightly better than what he could get.

”I’m a man soon to depart; what do I need a confidante for?” Draculus spoke bluntly, ”If she’s competent, that’s enough! You can tell by her age how many financial controllers the Mage Association has changed over the years. I’m not funding this to cause myself trouble.”

William looked at Draculus and asked in surprise, ”Is all the money of the Mage Association yours?”

”Of course,” Draculus smirked coldly, ”Initially, all the money was mine, not to mention the shops, even the territory is in my name, otherwise why do you think I can stay abroad all year round without fearing that every rare return might find everything has been tampered with?”

”No wonder the Chapters of the Mage Association that make the most money are only stable under powerful patrons,” Fran couldn’t help but add.

”As long as they don’t reach into my territory, I don’t care what they stir up outside,” Draculus said as he sipped his tea. ”You should understand, in the preceding years, this world really was inching towards collapse.

We actually used many methods, otherwise we would have entered the starry sky like everyone else.

But it was really difficult.

The domain of the deities, even if the Mage Association studied it deeply, was still difficult to comprehend.

We had almost decided to give up, but we still clung to hope, wishing for a glimmer of dawn.

Nor did we have the inclination to manage those creatures on the earth.

Knowing that they are a group bound to perish sooner or later, why should I bother?”

”Do you know why the elves and dwarves so firmly believe that this world will eventually belong to them?” William asked with a frown. ”I really don’t understand, what makes them think they can benefit from the destruction of the world?”

”It’s simple for the elves. If the world could be saved, once humans are almost extinct, they would step in as the saviors.

Transform this world completely into an elven one.

Only then will the laws of the world shift towards the elves,” Draculus scoffed. ”Even if they fail, the Forest of the Elves is the Elven God King’s biggest trump card. They could just leave this world with the elves.

Meanwhile, those imperfect deities of theirs could take advantage of the world’s collapse to extract the laws that align with them.

So, the reason the elves seem so chaotic is that they have various avenues to survive.”

”Is that also why pureblood Moon Elves cannot continue to exist? And those with too much Moon Elf bloodline?” Fran asked somberly.

Both Draculus and William, knowing his connection with Moon Elf Druids, nearly smiled simultaneously.

”Of course. Otherwise, once humans and magical beasts are extinct, Moon Elves would be the next choice for the world,” Draculus confirmed. ”This world was originally meant for humans.

Moon Elves aren’t naturally born creatures. The World Will only recognizes their existence in this world, but it doesn’t plan to let them rule.

So whether it’s the elves or the dwarves, they both start by dealing with magical beasts.

Humans are beings noticed by the World Will, they can only wait to decay slowly. Direct action would certainly lead to mutual destruction with the world.”

”What about the dwarves?”

”Their Royal City is just an unfinished divine artifact,” Draculus shook his head. ”Human beings find it hard to discover what’s truly happening on the dwarves’ side.

I only know that their deities, apart from the Dwarf King and his Consort Queen, are not fully comprehensive in laws, most are faith-based deities. Together they might not even defeat the Elven God King.

As for what method they used to extract gold from the earth, no one knows.

They both wield powerful divine artifacts, so there must be people backing them.

But the dwarves are more like wanderers who have been kicked out, although they also have good things brought from their ancestors, they are hardly able to use them.”

Both Fran and William recalled the unusable artifact of the God of Smithing.

Draculus sighed, ”I truly can’t find out what they plan to do, why they insist on destroying this world. The elven desire to dominate the entire world, on the other hand, is something normal people can comprehend.”

William nodded, ”Since it has come to this, they will understand sooner or later that they can’t possibly destroy this world.”

He glanced at Draculus leisurely sipping his tea, ”You haven’t said yet, what about this woman?”

”She shouldn’t be part of that group of demons,” Draculus recalled as he spoke, ”I remember, the traces of these demons were discovered by her people. There aren’t many henchmen of demons here, and unless absolutely necessary, they wouldn’t create a sacrificial victim. I don’t know whose subordinate she is, but for the Mage Association, letting places like the Abyss infiltrate is too common.”

William looked at Draculus’s indifferent face and truly wanted to punch him.

But he deflated.

Just as Draculus said, he felt that the world would crumble soon and really didn’t want to manage the scheming on the surface.

Compared to those legendary beings who had left long ago, Draculus was already quite rare.

Even if Fran wasn’t a Nature Warlock’s grandson, he would be somebody who would eventually leave.

Because of Hill’s presence, the World Will somewhat noticed Fran.

For Fran, a mage who received a smile from the world, he wouldn’t stint on that little reward.

William helplessly said to this legendary laid-back being, ”No matter what, they are trying to cause trouble on your turf, can you really tolerate it?”

”Tolerate?” Draculus’s gaze sharpened as he looked at the sky outside, ”That is a place I’ve built by my own hands for over a hundred thousand years. I may not be as skilled as Fran, but I am an Alchemist Master!”

Then he resumed his leisurely pace of drinking tea, ”First, let’s sort out the innocent people before anything else.”

It appeared he was planning to deal with them all in one stroke. He really hadn’t intended to manage who was colluding with whom.

William shuddered just thinking about it.

He knew this man practiced alchemy, but had no idea he was an Alchemist Master.

An Alchemist Master of legendary rank, managing his territory meticulously for over a hundred thousand years, was undeniably dangerous, without question.
