Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 356: Chapter 155 Freedom Without Constraint is a Crime

William crossed his arms and pondered for a while.

”There must be no seeds left at Hill’s place, otherwise he wouldn’t have planted so few.”

First, the task of collecting seeds needed to be arranged.

Although other cities were not as corrupt as this one, there were still many with a demonic aura.

Ironically, it was only the outermost cities that truly had no problems.

But in those cities, most of the business dealt in slavery. There was no need for demons; the resentment from the large numbers of human deaths was heavy enough.

When William got the statistics, his head ached.

After all was said and done, everything needed to be purified, and he had just been calculating how many high-level alchemists he would need to hire!

He had never expected such a flower to exist; how had he never known about it?

Nature warlocks really were different.

Luckily, Hill arrived in time, or else William would have had to deal reluctantly with the Mage Association.

William snorted in disdain.

The old fogies at the Mage Association were always so odd.

They said that what a mage pursued was freedom.

No matter what choices those beneath the Mage Association made, they wouldn’t interfere.

As long as it didn’t harm the foundation of mages, every mage had the right to conduct autonomous research.

William just wanted to dunk their heads in water to give them a good wash.

Consorting with demons was nothing special to them; if someone turned into a demon, it was their own fault—they could even say such things out loud!

He had intended to discuss with them, to ask the Mage Association to send some high-level alchemists. The method used by the Undead Tribe, projecting and tracing, couldn’t create something as sophisticated as a Purification Array.

But after bringing up the matter of mages turning demonic, he was so angered that he cut off the contact.

If a real disaster happened, they better not come to him for help!

On the other hand, the response from Saral’s alchemists was very positive, with even intermediate-level ones arriving almost in full number.

But that was because Saral’s most powerful Alchemist Master, Fran, didn’t hesitate to be the first to come over. Saral’s alchemists held great respect for this master, and with the rewards being good, they followed along as well.

However, Fran quietly told William not to give him any rewards and insisted that William keep it a secret.

After all, ordinary alchemists still needed money to live. He didn’t want those people to feel embarrassed.

William planned to find some fine materials for Fran later; he didn’t intend to reject Fran’s kindness.

These days, finding a legendary mage who wasn’t so absurdly self-aware was enough to make him burst into grateful tears.

But there were only a few high-level alchemists in Saral! Nowhere near enough to meet the current demands. Yet William really didn’t want to turn to the people of the Mage Association.

No matter what, he still cared about his pride! He had just forcefully ended the contact, and now going back to ask for help would be quite humiliating for William.

Although pride wasn’t that important, he still wished to retain some of it.

So when Fran brought Hill over, he had held onto some hope.

The results were better than expected!

William returned triumphantly, with no intention of bowing down to that group of old men!

The Undead Tribe began to proclaim the beauty of the scenery far and wide.

Tens of thousands of golden flowers burst into bloom all at once, and the sight of them transforming into golden light simultaneously was too beautiful, attracting countless undead to watch in awe.

Unfortunately, they waited a long time but did not see the sunflowers bloom again.

The Undead then turned their attention to examining Hill’s Cloud House.

The house, shaped like white clouds and surrounded by swirling clouds, quietly hovered in mid-air, a particularly pleasing sight to behold.

Those undead that could go to Hill’s Domain quickly inquired if they could buy similar products at Srei’s Store.

”They have some! The miscellaneous goods shelf has stock! We just haven’t gone to check these last few days!” someone said excitedly, ”Srei mentioned that Hill probably left in a hurry and didn’t take the one from the valley, so he used a commercial product on hand.”

They didn’t care if others overheard, because by that time, they had nearly bought out Srei Store’s inventory.

Those who didn’t manage to buy were mostly those who lacked the money.

They were just waiting for the chance to earn more in the world war, hoping Hill would produce more by then.

After all, compared to those who had to complete circuits to enter Srei’s Store, they were already quite lucky.

The undead happily saved their money and left, with Hill achieving part of his goal.

For the moment, he didn’t have the time to consider these things, as Hill buried himself in researching the seeds of various factions until the wee hours of the next morning.

Seizing the moment just before the first rays of the sun appeared, he quickly flew over the earthen box.

Seeing Hill’s movements, many undead immediately followed.

So they also witnessed the spectacle of nearly a million golden flowers blooming.

It was a breathtakingly beautiful sight.

But Hill’s goal was the seeds that the sunflowers produced under the first light of the sun.

This is the time when sunflower seeds are of the best quality, he must save some inventory.

Seeing Hill collecting seeds, the Undead Tribe also snatched quite a few.

Even though the box here is very large, tens of millions of sunflowers are almost filling it up.

Hill felt very pleased, he could feel that the soil on the top layer of the box was almost completely purified.

An Undead asked him loudly, ”Mr. Hill, what kind of flower is this? When do they bloom?”

”These are sunflowers, they only bloom in sunlight. They can use the foul aura of demons as nutrients. The more nutrients they have, the faster they grow, and the speed of blooming will also be slightly faster. But if the soil is completely purified clean, the sunflowers will only bloom and not produce seeds anymore.”

”So does that mean once this place is clean, these flowers will always be in bloom?”

”The flowers will close at night and only bloom under the sunlight.”

The Undead huddled together to discuss, while Hill, holding a few types of underground plant seeds he found yesterday, went to find William.

The area below was too stinky for Hill, and although he could tolerate it, he didn’t want to go down there unless necessary.

The Undead didn’t mind at all, they could adjust their own senses proportionally.

Hill had already discovered that whenever he wanted to see William, he could smoothly make his way to him.

He always thought it was because William had no airs, but in reality, William’s Guardians would still intercept people.

It was just that Hill was on the list of those allowed to see William directly.

Although it might be because he is a legendary warlock under Saral, Hill still felt good being valued by others.

Hill walked into the King’s Hall, where William was discussing with some people about how to deal with the people still left in the Hundred Cities.

Especially those free city residents.

Many things, they might not have participated in, but it’s impossible that they knew nothing.

Too many slaves had died, and anyone with a bit of heart could see the abnormality of the numbers.

So the result of their indifference is that although they haven’t fallen into evil, they also carry sins on them.

Elves can do it, because elves are not humans, they have no obligation to help humans survive.

The World Will won’t slide them into evil just because of their cold-bloodedness toward humans.

The division of the Evil Faction is actually very strict, so even orderly evil actually involves countless atrocities.

This faction is not something you can enter just by proclaiming the intention to kill someone.

As long as the human heart is still inclined toward goodness, one can actually escape from evil.

But those who take pride in evil, whether orderly or not, must be kept at a distance.

Orderly only means he won’t kill you carelessly, not that he won’t kill you.

William can only plan to build a sanctuary city filled with Purification Arrays.

But this can only be done last, before then, these people can only be detained.

He just requested that the slaves and these people be housed separately.

He looked at Hill and asked, ”Do you still have that oil painting?”

”I have 2 left.” Hill replied.

”I’ll send someone to collect them, have your Tower Spirit hand them over. We’ll settle the money afterward.”

Hill nodded his head.

Then he quietly watched as William instructed that these two paintings be placed at the resettlement point.

It seems William still has quite a few restless people around him; he must ensure that the people on the six ships are okay.

In the past, one could turn a blind eye, but not when demons are around.

Hill looked up and thought: he indeed had a Demi-God Artifact, but it was practically of no use to him.

The main functions were all used by William, although it was a legendary treasure, it was more practical.

So, the Sun and Moon gave him a Demi-God Artifact mainly for him to make money?

After handling a bunch of miscellaneous matters, William asked Hill, who was hiding and sitting beside a pillar.

”It’s rare for you to come by, and you waited so long, do you have something on your mind?”

”These are the seeds of underground butterwort. Although slightly different, they all have the ability to detoxify and purify.” Hill handed over the spindle-shaped brown seeds, each packed in three small bags.

”The seeds in the purple bag, the largest in size, bloom purple flowers, and have the strongest purification ability. The other two kinds are also good, but belong to those with the strongest detoxification ability, where they grow, there will be no insects and poisonous snakes.”

William looked interested, and smiled his thanks, ”Lucky that you have these seeds, otherwise it would really be troublesome underground. I will arrange for the Undead to plant them as soon as possible, and how fast do they grow?”

”Very slowly. But there’s a great number of these seeds.” Hill smiled, ”Each small bag contains tens of thousands of seeds. That should be sufficient. These have all been optimized by a Demi-God Artifact and have a bit stronger purification power. The Druid style is to only enhance abilities and never hastily speed up growth.”

William, frowning, asked, ”The Elf Druids haven’t shown up yet, what do you think they’re planning to do?”

”If Saral had lost, they might have emerged to turn the tide and help humans against the Forest of the Elves. That’s their self-perceived mission. But since Saral has won, they won’t show up now; that’s Elf pride for you.”

”Bullshit!” William cursed quietly.

He turned to look at Hill, ”Avoid the Mage Association for now, they’re too chaotic. Even if Mages pursue the freedom of their nature, that doesn’t mean they can do anything they want! Freedom without restraint is simply a crime!”

”Just being neutral and not inclined towards evil makes one a good person among Mages.” Hill bluntly answered, ”Mages’ curiosity is enough to tempt them to dabble in many of the World Will’s forbidden zones.”

William cursed again, and Hill suspected he had already been in contact with the Mage Association and had been seriously annoyed by them.
