Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 384: Chapter 183: The Unique Architectural Style of the Central City

Spencer organized the work in his hands and then reported to William once again before taking the Captain of the Guard, who was full of confusion, outside. Along the way, he took the opportunity to explain the current situation to him.

After understanding the situation, the Captain of the Guard slung his long sword across his back, held the Scales in his left hand, straightened his face, and said to Spencer, ”Rest assured, I am but an extension of the King’s will, without a trace of my own thoughts.”

Spencer nodded helplessly, ”When speaking with the Undead Tribe, drop the noble demeanor; a businesslike tone is best. Be careful not to get involved.”

The Captain of the Guard with an innocent face replied, ”I’m merely the messenger, I assure you I’ll greet them with a smile!”

”Smile? What’s there to smile about!” Spencer retorted, ”I definitely don’t want to rescue you one day from a bunch of undead girls. Don’t you know that magicians all have good-looking faces?”

The Captain of the Guard asked in surprise, ”You mean like Mr. Polanio’s level?”

”Do you only look at the top-tier beauties?” Spencer said exasperatedly, ”Sure, the exceptionally gorgeous and the innocent and cute are the most popular, but if there are a few delicate and pretty ones, would you still not take a look?”

The Captain of the Guard muttered, ”I thought I was just rather good-looking.”

”Right, you’re good-looking, and you look even better when you smile,” Spencer stated bluntly. ”Keep a straight face, finish the task and leave immediately. Don’t linger for small talk.”

The Captain of the Guard, his eyes wandering, bit his lower lip to suppress a sudden urge to smile.

He felt these must be words of wisdom from Spencer and decided to listen more closely.

The Captain of the Guard quietly said, ”I think the unfortunate ones will definitely not be the Undead Tribe, whether they arrived first or later.”

Spencer was caught off guard for a moment. This captain typically did not have much interaction with the Undead Tribe, so this opinion must be based on William’s attitude.

Only then did Spencer recall, this guy, although robust, was indeed a sensitive magician.

Although Spencer said nothing in response, his complete lack of objection brought a satisfied smile to the probing man.

Spencer caught a glimpse of the Captain, who was smiling brilliantly, and was about to sigh.

No wonder William said there was no need to replace the captain in the short term.

The current Captain had simpler thoughts; he didn’t aspire to become one of the Great Nobility, nor did he have a burning desire to establish meritorious achievements. Being by the King’s side was satisfaction enough for him.

And with a long lifespan, once trained, there would be no concern about how long his successor would last.

Having said all he had to say, Spencer watched the Captain of the Guard patrolling the camp with the two soul-splitting artifacts, but he still couldn’t help but feel somewhat anxious.

He hoped that if the Captain encountered any issues, he would remember to use the Scales first and the sword second.

Three days of Nature’s Blessing, insisted upon by Hill, turned Central City into a sea of flowers and shrubs, except for where the fortress stood.

Spencer reacted quickly.

He immediately had people take their horses out to graze on the first batch of pasture.

Some of the Undead Tribe that remained in the camp took their herbivorous Magical Beasts out as well.

Hill, floating in the air, initially wanted to see which species these magical beasts were, to estimate how many each family left behind and who was preparing to cause trouble.

After all, they all brought rabbits with them.

Unfortunately, his brain wasn’t quite functioning at the moment.

Those giving the middle finger to the symbols of the Forest of the Elves were already showing a relaxed attitude.

A rainbow of such gestures—Hill thought that a middle finger rainbow wasn’t that bad-looking either!

After all, they all pointed towards the Forest of the Elves.

And those patterns that closely resembled certain organs were disappearing one by one. Hill looked down at the King’s Ship; William was quite busy too!

It seemed that William had been well-prepared, like the hand-washing images that appeared in Hill’s Domain—that he hadn’t touched; only the overly realistic ones were slightly veiled by plants, unanimously transformed into circular patterns.

Then, various dog-bite images followed.

Hill thought that the Elves might not understand what the middle finger meant and could pretend to be ignorant even if they knew the Humans were cursing them.

But the varied images of Elves being bitten by dogs were a torment for them.

After all, it was clear who was being bitten.

They could either come out and destroy these images, but it was plain that the Undead Tribe would attack them.

Emerging would be a dead end.

However, if they hid in the forest, their Main God was watching from above!

Most could not create such detailed images, hence Hill was faced with a sea of dog faces. Hill quietly descended. Although he liked dogs, the plethora of oddly shaped dog faces was somewhat distressing.

Anyway, apart from rabbits, the Undead Tribe also brought out many pigs.

Only one family commanded the Wild Boar Legion.

They were accustomed to stick together as a family, so Hill also saw the Wild Ox Group and the Wild Horse Group.

It seemed that the followers of the Magic Cult left in the camp were all Priests, but Hill also noticed that those girls who only walked with rabbits had never released any other types of magical beasts.

They might belong to the Elephant Legion.

At the very least, Adrian’s first hypothesis was about to come true.

Hill silently landed on the Cloud House, bringing it to a slightly lower elevation, lest the morning’s first breath of fresh air through the window bring with it a shock at the sight outside.

”Hill,” Alice, who had been peering out the window with curiosity, asked, ”Is it the human king who is modifying their map? Could it be something even more vicious than a dog biting an elf?”

Hill noticed Merkel, who was also listening with perked ears from the side.

With a helpless smile, he said, ”It’s just the Undead Tribe’s swear words, the particularly nauseating kind. His Majesty the King finds it beneath his dignity.”

No matter the game, it was necessary to filter out certain indecent images and language from reality.

William probably didn’t want his game company to be shut down over such a trivial reason.

”Is it the Undead Tribe’s or the humans’?” Merkel sat up and licked his paw, ”Elves wouldn’t make it if they couldn’t understand. You’re just taking advantage of the fact that we, as Magical Beasts, can’t understand and spouting nonsense!”

Unfazed, Hill spoke to the curious Alice, ”It’s the Undead Tribe’s foul language, they’ve depicted the specifics. It’s no different from directly translating it into Elven. His Majesty the King is right here, he wouldn’t allow it.”

Alice meowed in understanding and didn’t press further. She was innately uninterested in such things.

Merkel tried to look disdainful with his dark face, then lay back down again.

”Don’t leave the camp for a while,” Hill instructed, ”They’re at odds, and it might lead to a fight.”

”The more people there are, the more trouble,” muttered Merkel, ”Whether it’s the Undead Tribe or humans from other worlds, it’s just more hassle.”

”Will we be alright staying in the camp?” asked the antsy Alice.

The falcons were circling in the sky, looking like they were about to leave.

Being elves, after all, it’s impossible for them to stay under these circumstances.

Before the gaze of the Elf Deity System turned their way, it was true wisdom to leave quickly.

”Why are they all targeting elves?” questioned Merkel, ”Are they so sure that the dwarves won’t hold out?”

The Goddess of the Earth could abandon the Wood Element, but she would never give up on Metal, Hill silently replied in his mind, ”Only if the dwarves leave this world or perish entirely, and the Goddess of the Earth who reclaimed the Metal System wakes up, could it be possible.”

”The elves can’t fight anymore,” Hill answered, ”That’s why they are even angrier. On the dwarves’ side, it’s all wars of annihilation.”

”Human thinking,” Merkel mumbled, ”The ones you can’t fight, shouldn’t you just avoid provoking them outright?”

”Weren’t your ancestors also quite bothered by that wolf? If you could disgust him, would you not do it?”

”It’s fine to relish the misfortune of others, but there’s no way I’d lift a paw myself. Wasting time on that when I could be chewing on a chunk of meat is just impractical,” Merkel stated bluntly, ”unless it could kill him directly, why bother?”

Hill nodded, gaining a little more insight into the Magical Beast’s way of thinking.

But the Wolf Tribe was indeed quite the exception among Magical Beasts, willing to pursue a vendetta in their bloodline for so many years without rest.

Alice clamored to go down and play, and Merkel, unable to lie still any longer, stood up to accompany her.

”Don’t forget to make a trip to the Forest Array,” Hill reminded them, ”then you can go and play.”

Alice meowed loudly as she jumped down.

At the Forest Array, a golden glow quickly emerged.

Hill saw that William’s Captain of the Guard had started blowing his whistle, calling his troops to gather inside the Forest Array.

Alice’s spell could last thirty minutes, which was plenty of time for them.

As long as their hearts faced towards the sunlight, there were many benefits to be had in that golden light.

At the very least, the body would recover to its best condition.

But for some people, it was merely a way to cleanse the evil aura.

Actually, from the way these people rushed towards the Forest Array, you could tell where their factional loyalties lay.

Those who entered swiftly were the ones who could gain a lot from it.

At worst, they would be neutral leaning towards good.

So it was no wonder that the Guard Captain who accelerated and dashed directly inside was trusted by William.

Hill looked down at the area below Central City. This city’s underground section was now nearly complete.

Above the caverns was a net made of sturdy ice threads.

Adrian was directing some of the Undead to use Earth magic to close off the entire cavern entrance.

Following beside them, he would freeze segments into cylindrical pipe shapes, then the Undead would cover them with mud, petrify the mud into solidity, and finally turn it into obsidian.

Hill watched unblinkingly as, surprisingly, not a single pillar was used below!

What was Fran planning to do?

They still had to construct a city above, after all!

Obsidian might be strong, and a 50-meter-thick foundation might withstand current demands.

But it surely wouldn’t just suffice like that.

Since William wanted a city that would last for thousands of years, Fran certainly had to consider the possibility of more buildings in the city’s future.

Hill moved the Cloud House close to the deep pit; he was eager to see what kind of ingenious ideas would come about.
