Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 391: Chapter 190 William Loves Dogs, Hill Loves Cats

The high-level Undead had never intended these nobles to be their targets.

After all, their schemes of sowing discord were actually insignificant to both sides.

While nobility might indeed be an object of admiration, no one truly revered the nobles portrayed in their games.

The original intent was simply to cause some trouble for the existing Undead.

Only the Saral Nobles believed their millennia-old tactics had any effect.

Therefore, the lesson taught to the Saral Nobles by the high-level Undead had been sufficient.

After this episode, it’s likely that these nobles will stay further away from the Undead in the future.

No matter where they come from, they won’t wish to deal with them again.

After all, there aren’t many missions one could take up within Saral.

In the event of an actual affair, it would probably be some unfortunate noble caught by the Undead in some act of evil — an event to Strike Evil.

For the short term, Saral isn’t likely to have any nobles foolish enough to provoke them.

The high-level Undead directed all their energy towards these low-order simpletons.

Their methods were truly nefarious!

Hill floated in the air, his mouth slightly open, gasping in shock.

If it had been a matter of being killed by someone, these low-order Undead might have accepted their fate.

But after wild boar charges, bison trampling, and horse stomping left a ground littered with corpses, numerous Mid-level Rabbits still hopped about it.

The high-level Undead merely laughed and pointed from the sidelines.

Hill held his chin, looking at the dueling podium that turned to rubble after being rammed by a wild boar.

The high-level Undead strolled by the area, laughing so hard they could barely stand. In reality, they took the opportunity to gather Earth.

The befuddled low-rank ones resurrected from the church and rushed over time and again.

They probably thought they could handle the Mid-level Rabbits, and killing one would be enough to make these miscreants weep for a while.

Unfortunately, they underestimated the rabbits and overestimated themselves.

Even a single rabbit, in their eyes, could be considered a boss, let alone such a large swarm.

The panicked rabbits of various types tensed their hind legs, discharging their Talented Magic in disarray before leaping into the sky.

Although haphazard, it was enough to handle these fellows who at most reached the level of Grand Knight.

Even if some managed to survive on the brink of death, after the giant flying rabbits pummeled down from the sky, they had no chance of living.

The church was filled with people standing silently, leaning against the walls.

The high-level Undead did not arrogantly pursue to kill, merely standing and waiting to see if anyone else would go mad.

Unfortunately, after dying multiple times, nobody was losing their head anymore.

As Spencer slowly approached, having dealt with the situation, the high-level Undead, not waiting for him to speak, dispersed with laughter.

Hill, having enjoyed the spectacle, contentedly landed back on the Cloud Ship.

Watching Spencer direct the Guard Corps to take the nobles back to the ship, Hill curiously wondered why William, despite making precautions, didn’t intervene?

Others were also dissatisfied with the situation.

Adrian, concerned it would affect the next day’s work, watched from afar with folded arms, his expression displeased.

So he just watched as Spencer and his men cleaned up, without lifting a finger.

He wasn’t too happy with the King’s indifferent attitude toward everything.

Back in the King’s Hall, seeing the Captain of the Guard holding a Soul-splitting Artifact next to William, Spencer sighed deeply.

He looked helplessly at the joyfully laughing King, ”Why didn’t you stop them when the fighting began?

Or, why didn’t you intervene when that dueling platform was set up? Your Majesty the King!”

”Spencer, have you forgotten? This is a temporary encampment, not Central City. By rights, Undead don’t need to abide by some of the city’s regulations.” William leaned against the back of his chair, trembling with laughter, ”They didn’t break any rules I set. If I issue an order for punishment now, the unlucky ones will only be those Undead who initiated the conflict. Those who resist are innocent.”

Spencer fell silent.

”Do I still need to patrol outside?” the Captain of the Guard asked in a low voice, ”Your Majesty the King, although it seems a bit ignoble, I really think they could play me to death.”

”You represent me,” William said with a helpless smile, ”They won’t use those tactics on you.

As long as you act impartially, it’s fine.

The Undead won’t bother going to such lengths just to trouble you.

It’s quite difficult for them to scheme to that extent very often.”

The Captain of the Guard understood; he still had to patrol the camp, waiting for the day when he’d have to rush out and intervene in a conflict.

”However, in the future, those who clash will change,” William continued to speak intermittently, still with a smile on his face.

But those who heard understood; in the future, the real enemies would be the low-rank Undead and the Saral Nobles.

High-level Undead, it was because they caused trouble and wanted to bully a girl that they were retaliated against this way.

Without each other, the people on both sides would of course still treat the High-level Undead as enemies, seeking ways to bring them down.

But now, before the nobles and Low-order Undead have determined a victor, nobody could possibly pull such a terrifying enemy into the fray again.

Especially for the nobles, who after the current Low-order promote to High-level, would have to yield and admit defeat if they were unable to defeat them on their own.

Of course not.

They had only one option, to hire the original batch of the Undead Tribe.

Even though they were made enemies by the calculations of these Undead, the nobles always knew the times.

Generally, they knew to first resolve the primary contradiction before considering others.

”These newly arrived Undead probably won’t be able to enter Saral, right?” Spencer touched his forehead, ”The Saral Nobles would definitely protest their qualifications.”

”They were summoned by me to fill in the Triangle Zone in the first place,” William coughed slightly, ”If a majority of the Saral Nobles express dissatisfaction, then the gates of Saral can indeed not be opened to them.

That is to say, the Teleportation Array can only be used by the original batch of Undead for the time being. Their channels of entering this world are different and can easily be distinguished.”

”Now we can label them as High-level and Low-level, the original and the new. But after some time, how will we differentiate these Undead?”

”It will be the Saral Undead and the Triangle Zone Undead!” William said with a light smile, ”Of course, this can only be said after the nobles protest.”

Spencer couldn’t help but curl his lip and nodded, ”Yes, Your Majesty the King.”

”What was that platform made of?” William asked Spencer, knowing the man would have investigated.

Spencer twisted his mouth and pulled out a handful of earth, ”I nearly didn’t grab it.”

”No wonder they used a Magical Beast!” William commended, ”I wondered why they all stood in one spot to watch; turns out they wanted to destroy the evidence!”

Spencer felt that William was a little too amused by it all.

”Your Majesty, what exactly are you so happy about?” he asked, unable to restrain himself.

”Earlier, wasn’t there someone who offered a rose to that group of Undead using female identities?” William still smiled.

”I heard it’s the way the Undead express their love,” Spencer spoke calmly, ”Didn’t Your Majesty know this already? Besides, that person was simply besotted, fooled. He’s already miserable enough, rushing forward the most times. Not only did he lose face, but he also suffered the greatest loss, there’s no need to mock him.”

”No,” William finally got control of himself, ”That Elf God just came looking for me, wanting to...”

He shut his mouth.

Then he silently set to work, changing the illustrations of elves being bitten by dogs outside the camp into various images of small dogs frolicking.

”Your Majesty?” Spencer was at first taken aback, then realized that William wanted to mock the embarrassment of the God of Time and Space, probably having been warned off.

He laughed, ”I thought there was nothing you were afraid to say.”

”If the boss just dumps more work on me.” William continued his task, ”I’ll probably go crazy with busyness. Although I appear idle, I actually have lots to do.”

”What is Your Majesty doing?”

”Turning the images of elves bitten by dogs outside into ones of little dogs playing,” William frowned, pondering what else could be substituted.

In a rare loud voice, Spencer shouted, ”Why don’t you just change them into bunches of flowers? Why must there be a dog! Just because the Silvermoon Wolf God doesn’t speak up doesn’t mean He isn’t angry!”

The Silvermoon Wolf God had no choice, his own Main God also called him a small dog, and so he had to resign himself to it.

The Undead, even the Goddess of the Silvermoon wasn’t too keen on dealing with them; the Silvermoon Wolf God wasn’t foolish, he simply played possum, pretending not to see those images of dogs biting elves, since the Elven God King was the one who suffered the most.

But now, you’ve let the Elven God King off the hook, yet continue to insult the Wolf God as a dog?

Do you really want your allies to turn into enemies immediately?

The wolf packs are still roaming the plains, together with the Undead attacking the Dwarf Kingdom!

Spencer didn’t want to see the wolves, who normally would not infringe upon others’ territory and might even cooperate with the Undead, suddenly turning to bite back.

William gave an ’ah’ of realization, reluctantly halting his hand, ”Do you think it would work if I put out word saying these are other dogs?”

”You might as well change them into cats!” Spencer said coldly, ”Who doesn’t know what’s going on? We are still allies with the Silvermoon Deity System, aren’t we?”

William sighed, ”Forget about cats. I still prefer dogs. Better yet, change them into big rabbits, in all colors, that’s nice too.”

Watching William begin to work without enthusiasm, Spencer exhaled in relief.

It didn’t matter what it was, as long as it wasn’t a dog.

Hill didn’t know that the greatest disagreement between him and William had just occurred.

Otherwise, the words ’forget about cats’ would have been enough to anger him.

He just sat on the grass atop the Cloud Ship, holding Alice, combing her fur, and discussing with Merkel everything that had just transpired.

”It seems that the most powerful thing about humans is indeed their endless schemes and intrigues,” Merkel sighed, ”So it’s no surprise the Wolf God failed, too straightforward.”

Hill glanced at Merkel with confusion.

”I’ve noticed that humans are quite tolerant of the God of Nobility, although he is also one of the culprits behind the demonic invasion,” Merkel said, lying down and asking, ”Is it because his confrontation with Magical Beasts is not considered a mistake? Just a conspiracy that wasn’t well-used?”

Although Hill wanted to comfort him, he didn’t want to lie, so he remained silent.
