Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 362: Chapter 161: The Elf Scolded as a Fool

Hill hadn’t expected to still be affected by the Land of Demons.

He quickly remembered his grandfather, who often went down to take a look at the cave beneath.

It seemed that others also frequently assisted the Undead Tribe, though they didn’t go down, they were often active nearby.

Even though these essences would gradually dissipate over time, they still caused harm to the human body.

Hill looked down at Alice, ”Alice, can you use the power of the sun to help purify it?”

Still upset about not being completely able to help, Alice immediately stood up, ”I can release both golden and silver light. I thought they were useless skills~, no offensive power, just able to clear physical and mental pollution~”

Hill crouched in front of Alice, ”This skill can be a big help to me! Alice, you are really capable!”

Alice’s large eyes almost emitted light, and she quickly reverted to her white form, ”Golden light when white, silver light when black.”

”I happen to be going out later, do you want to come along?” Hill asked with a smile.

”Yes~ meow~” Just as Alice was about to dash into the room to find things she wanted to take, she stopped and looked at the leopard, ”Merkel is going too, right? Will you accompany me?”

”I’m going,” the leopard answered her simply.

”Is it okay for Merkel to go?” Watching Alice joyfully dash into the room to pack her favorite cushion and pillow, Hill asked the leopard, ”There are many Magical Beasts that died terribly there, will it affect you?”

”No,” Merkel shook his head, ”Magical Beasts don’t have the same kind of empathy that humans do. They want to exterminate the dwarves merely to prevent their own race from extinction; the extinction of other races doesn’t concern them.”

Hill laughed, ”But aren’t the dwarves a threat to all Magical Beast races? Then why did only the Wolf Tribe step forward?”

”Magical Beasts need a leader; otherwise, even if they reach the Legendary rank, they can’t change their desire to monopolize territory, only allowing those of their kind weaker than themselves to exist. The Wolf Tribe is so united, wolves not from the same tribe still fight each other! But who made them have a Wolf God?”

Merkel looked somewhat disheartened. Although he was already a Legendary Magical Beast and the leopard Magical Beasts in the valley obeyed his commands, he held no status once he left Hill’s domain and entered the wild.

The siege by Magical Beasts had indeed been temporarily resolved. At least from the human side, no more Magical Beasts were attacking.

But the Legendary Magical Beasts in the wild were still not willing to interact with humans.

The highest rank among the Magical Beasts that came to Hill’s Domain was only equivalent to that of a Magister.

Hill glanced at the leopard; this leopard was ambitious. Ever since awakening the ancestral inheritance, his dignity had been increasing day by day, and his charisma had become stronger.

Hill had long known that many leopards had appeared in the valley. For these proud big cats, a place where what to eat was restricted was not very appealing. If not for following Merkel, they wouldn’t have stayed so obediently.

But Merkel also knew how to lie low for now.

Until he became a Demigod, he would probably stay here with Hill.

He hadn’t even planned on recruiting, instead adopting an attitude of waiting for followers to come to him.

Hill didn’t intend to interfere; his relationship with Merkel was good, and he had a clear view of human power. He wasn’t as hostile towards humans as the Wolf Tribe, at most, he just didn’t like them.

Even if Merkel became a powerful Beast King dominating a region, he wouldn’t easily become an enemy of humans.

Alice came out carrying a small storage box that Hill had given her.

Although Hill had given them both storage rings, they still preferred these boxes that could be directly opened.

Perhaps for a cat, only what her eyes could see truly belonged to her.

Hill bent down to pick up Alice and asked Merkel, ”Ship or teleportation array?”

”Not the teleportation array.” Merkel shook his head, ”It always feels very uncomfortable.”

Hill thought about it; cats were more likely to get motion sick, and that ultra-long-distance teleportation array could indeed easily disrupt their balance.

Moreover, the matters in Central City were not urgent for the time being, so they might as well take a ship.

His floating Cloud Ship could also fly, just not as fast as Srei’s ship.

For the sake of appearance, some sacrifices always had to be made. A ship that flew too fast couldn’t keep the clouds floating beside it.

This time, Hill used the Cloud Ship he had carefully crafted.

The two-story house was not shaped like clouds but like a treehouse among the clouds.

The treehouse was woven from the branches of various Magical Plants, filled with a natural essence.

After Alice went in, she picked a room she liked to place her things and then wandered around the small house to explore.

The Cloud Ship gently floated towards the south.

Alice happily jumped out of the house’s door and clambered up to the highest branches of the trunk.

The ship’s rails were all made into the shape of fences. The fences hung branches of Lily of the Valley and Windmill Jasmine.

The deck was also made to look like grass.

Even Merkel, rarely found it very pleasing, lying on the grass, inhaling the fragrance of the Windmill Jasmine, and drifting off to sleep.

Hill knew he had probably been worried about Alice’s advancement for a long time and had finally relaxed.

The scent of Windmill Jasmine did indeed have a somewhat soporific effect. After setting the flight path, he also returned to his room to sleep.

The flight speed of Hill’s ship was not fast, so when he woke up, he was still some distance from Central City.

Alice and Merkel were lying at the bow, looking at the scenery below.

This area had already left the range of human influence and entered the Triangle Zone.

Alice felt somewhat uncomfortable as she said to Hill, ”This place is naturally detested.”

”It’s okay,” Hill patted her little head. ”Those who harmed nature are no longer here. I’ll be here for a while, helping with the purification of the land and replanting of the plants.”

”Alice will help too.”

”Your purification power will be a great help!” Hill said with a smile. ”Otherwise, many things would be left undone.”

Enveloped by nature, Hill would have an aura of contamination, and others even more so.

Hill planned to summon a Forest Array there, inscribe his own Purification Array, and set up Water System Divine Arts that deal with purification and detoxification.

Having Alice hide inside and cast purification magic a few times each day should resolve the issue.

Otherwise, staying there for long, William’s subordinates would definitely encounter problems.

Fran’s Purification Array, although effective, was still a bit inferior to Hill’s.

Maybe only a little residue would remain, but who knows if an unforeseen incident might trigger that bit of leftover.

Hill also didn’t realize his own state because he was surrounded by Purification Arrays, if not for Sun God’s actions, he probably wouldn’t have noticed until the contamination aura accumulated too much.

The Undead Tribe didn’t have any issues; only the humans of this world could be so easily influenced in both soul and body.

Upon reaching Central City, both Merkel and Alice looked towards that pile of dirt.

Even though it was stacked in an oval-shaped building, they immediately sensed that dirty presence.

Alice quickly ran into the treehouse and shouted loudly, ”Impossible~ My light~ Isn’t that much~”

Hill was stunned for a moment before he realized Alice thought he wanted her to purify that pile of dirt.

”Not that.” Hill started laughing. ”Even the deities cannot purify it all at once; how could I ask you to do so? I’ll just set up a Forest Array, and you just need to radiate light twice a day.”

”That I can do, promise, okay?” Alice peeked her head out from the doorway and asked for confirmation.

Hill nodded with a smile.

Suddenly, Merkel asked, ”Why are humans so foolish?”

Hill glanced at the black leopard and realized he truly believed that.

”What happened?”

”Turning their living place into this, they’ll no longer be human soon, right?” Merkel was utterly puzzled, ”Leopards, even if they feel not strong enough, wouldn’t want to become bears.”

Hill helplessly looked at the leopard but understood he was genuinely just using an example because he thought bears were strong, not implying anything about Hill.

”They are not foolish. Living in this place for too long, they no longer consider themselves humans.

Dwarves and elves are so formidable that it gave them the illusion that by changing races, they could also be that strong.

Alas, the Professional’s path is much harder!

There is nothing easier than becoming a demon by advancing on the harm done to others.

But even such people, Dwarves took many years to cultivate.

But these are just a few; you see, there are very few in Saral who would be so foolish.”

Merkel contemplated and nodded, lying down quietly.

Hill looked at the ground for a while, deciding it was best to place the Forest Array near where Spencer issued tasks.

It would be convenient for Hill to pass the management of the Forest Array to Spencer.

If it were too far, it would be too much for Spencer, but then again, Hill didn’t know anyone else!

Hill parked the ship safely, carried Alice, and flew down to begin a series of tasks.

Spencer had already curiously come over to have a look.

”Mr. Polanio, why do you need to draw another Purification Array? Aren’t the ones around the cave enough?”

”I will also summon a Forest Array and use Water System Divine Arts to aid in purifying. If you see golden light appear each day, remember to come in with the Guardians,” Hill said without looking up.

Spencer thought for a moment, then turned and walked towards William’s King’s Ship.

That guy was sharp in these matters, having already understood Hill’s intentions.

Seeing Hill summoning a Forest Array primarily of Ginkgo Trees and casting various Water System Divine Arts, Fran also couldn’t help but float down.

Hill let Alice jump into the forest and looked up at Fran, saying, ”Alice advanced to Legendary, and I went back once. I discovered I still had a whiff of demonic aura on me.”

Fran frowned slightly, ”Aren’t Legendary Rank Purification Arrays enough? Is the contamination aura here that strong? I don’t feel it though?”

Spencer had already come over with a group of Guardians, and Hill waved at Adrian, who was watching from afar, to come over too.

”It’s a very covert contamination aura,” he said, looking up at Fran. ”Even elves might not detect it.”

Fran scoffed coldly, ”Foolish elves.”
