Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 363: Chapter 162 Hill Knows of Grandmother’s Arrival

Once everyone had arrived, Hill gave Alice the nod to release the Light of Purification.

Golden radiance enveloped all those nearby, and every person showed a relieved expression.

Adrian touched the mist that filled the air, feeling that something was amiss.

Didn’t it seem like there was something more than the spells that Hill had used before?

Fran, who had fallen to the ground, cursed softly after feeling a trace of vile aura expelled from his body, ”Stupid Elf.”

His Magic Tower had the Purification Array running for a long time.

If there was even a hint of demonic aura nearby, he would be exceedingly cautious, but even so, he hadn’t completely dispelled these vile powers.

Those foolish Elves, if they keep this up, they will be eradicated by demons sooner or later.

William wouldn’t even need to lift a finger.

If the Elves were wiped out by demons, then those Druids would become rootless wanderers, wouldn’t they?

When the opponent was human, they could still afford to stand by and watch.

But if someone among the Elves underwent demonization, I’d like to see what they would do!

Fran sneered, confident that William was no fool willing to help his enemies, only refraining from stepping in because he didn’t want to dirty his hands for a bunch of idiots.

Just like the Elves have done for tens of thousands of years, watching from above as humans struggled.

Now, it was humanity’s turn to watch them.

Fran would not forget that elven settlement outside Central City.

The Elves there should have already returned to the Forest of the Elves by now, right?

Hill, curious, took a glance, finding it rare to see Fran so emotionally charged. What had the Elves done now?

Otherwise, it would be quite normal for demons or dwarves to plot against the Elves!

To think that a bunch of evil factions would leave the Elves alone instead of setting them up is naivety to the point of stupidity.

That Rose, who knows how many contingencies she has buried among the Elves!

Fran looked at Hill and said, ”The Druids have been staying nearby, I wonder if they can sense this vile aura?”

”It’s impossible for them to sense it. My sensitivity to evil is surely sharper than theirs.

Even I almost overlooked it, so they’re even less likely to notice.

Unless they go down to the bottom of the cavern, the demonic aura above is too concealed.

Even if they are cautious, they don’t have a Purification Array, and if they were to release the Purification Divine Art themselves upon returning, they might not be able to clean it thoroughly, but the harm wouldn’t be significant,” Hill replied with some confusion but gave a truthful answer nonetheless.

”What if they’re all animal Druids?”

”That depends on whether they know to make use of the Purification Magic Array at the edge of the deep pits. But there’s no issue with staying nearby for a short period; it would be fine once they leave.

After all, the Druids are known as Children of Nature, and as long as they stay in a place filled with natural essence, they will slowly purify themselves. Of course, that’s assuming no demons take action.”

”His Majesty the King has yet to capture that trouble-making demon,” Fran said, frowning. ”You should move into the Magic Tower as well!”

”I’m alright, Grandfather,” Hill exclaimed, startled. He didn’t want to be micromanaged at his age, ”Alice and Merkel are Legendary, after all!”

He looked around, lowered his voice and added, ”Hanging outside my Cloud House are branches from Lily of the Valley and Windmill Jasmine. There’s nothing nearby that could escape their watchful eyes.”

Fran nodded. He wouldn’t insist if Hill was unwilling.

He looked up at the Cloud House above, the natural aura was especially rich, which meant it would also be very sensitive to demonic presences.

If a demon really did appear, it would be detected very quickly.

Moreover, the house might be more powerful than his own Magic Tower when it comes to dealing with demons.

Although Fran had not inspected it closely, he could sense some of the Array’s Runes.

In terms of Purification and Evil-Banishing, even he couldn’t compare with Hill, for these were things that only those blessed by nature could achieve.

If a demon truly attempted to ambush Hill, they likely wouldn’t be able to use even half of their strength.

The concern was that if the Druids encountered trouble, Viola, who couldn’t burst into his Magic Tower, would definitely rush into his Cloud House.

Without endangering her own safety, Viola would indeed consider Hill’s wellbeing, but if an issue arose, she surely would turn to Hill.

She’d admitted to having read ”Hill’s Biography.”

She must know that Hill is of the Neutral Good Alignment.

Other humans might not bother saving their own enemy, denying her a chance to speak.

But Hill simply couldn’t kill outright. As long as she had a chance to speak, could Hill really kill a relative by blood?

After all, she hadn’t wronged him.

Fran glanced at Hill, sighed, and patted his head, ”If there really is trouble, a Half-Elf Druid might seek you out. Don’t be scared, and don’t approach her on your own.”

Hill, surprised, watched as his grandfather hurriedly left after finishing his words.

He took control of the Forest Array from Spencer, maintaining composure.

As a Legendary, Hill’s Forest Array would exist indefinitely as long as he did not cancel it.

And with its vastly expanded area, a thousand square meters, it offered ample space for William and his company to bask in the blessings of the Water System Divine Art.

Even those who hadn’t ventured into the deep pits could nourish their bodies by entering; it was a luxury these Knights could hardly beg for.

What Spencer needed to control was the Great Nobility who wanted to squat inside and never leave.

Hill therefore handed over all control of the place to Spencer; he had no intentions of dealing with those Nobles.

What if he couldn’t hold back and accidentally killed one?

Holding the emerging Alice, Hill made his way back to his own Cloud Ship.

He was too preoccupied to pay attention to anything else; Fran’s words echoed in his mind.

Was that his grandmother who had appeared?

An animal druid?

He decided to let Alice play by herself, but not to leave the Cloud Ship unless Merkel was with her.

Hill rolled around in bed a few times.

Forget it, it was none of his business.

It was a stroke of luck that she wasn’t an enemy.

Considering how little she cared for her own daughter, Melanie, she certainly wouldn’t come looking for him out of affection.

Hill’s curiosity, although somewhat piqued, led him to decide to remain silent.

He knew that if there wasn’t a problem, even if the affection was gone, Fran wouldn’t be so adamant about keeping Hill from seeing this grandmother.

Perhaps, the druid’s stance was problematic?

If they were destined to become enemies of humans eventually, there really was no good reason to meet, even if Hill wasn’t going to end up on a battlefield, nor was he interested in collecting her corpse.

But when Hill examined his conscience, he realized he didn’t harbor any thoughts about still having a relative out there.

Regarding this matter, his only feeling was curiosity; he truly wanted to know what kind of woman could have captured the young Fran’s heart.

More than this half-elf being his grandmother, he wanted to know what kind of woman could enchant Fran.

Hill decided he would secretly ask Adrian later—obviously the lady had appeared and had no intentions of leaving, or else Fran wouldn’t have told him.

Adrian must have met her!

Turning over, Hill decided to set the matter aside for now—he had a discovery to explore!

Then, he concentrated on observing his mental sea.

He had thought the Sun God simply helped purify the hidden impurities within his body.

But when he released the Forest Array, he noticed there was something extra.

It seemed as though all his spells had been imbued with evil-banishing properties.

Indeed, the Sun God had generously granted Hill an eternal BUFF.

As long as Hill remained in the Kind Alignment, all his spells would carry the effects of driving out and striking evil.

Even if Hill became Neutral, he could continue to add evil-banishing effects.

But if he turned to the Evil Faction, all the blessings of the power of the sun god would be revoked.

Hill blinked.

The Sun God had patched things up; the previous blessing to increase the power of his spells didn’t include this condition.

But now, this blessing had been included among those of the Sun God.

This deity, in its desire for secrecy, had probably never looked closely at the human world.

Only after finally completing their knowledge of humankind did they realize their ability to change factions was astonishingly swift, right?

They must be regretting having given Hill that additional layer of BUFF, as humans are a race that could change deities’ factions at whim!

If Hill, with their blessing, ever joined the Evil Faction, it would likely pain them to even think about it.

That must be why they’ve been keeping a close eye on Hill’s actions!

Although they granted Hill another eternal blessing, they’ve now added this baseline for his alignment.

Hill chuckled, he was always broad-minded and wouldn’t consider the Sun God’s actions incorrect.

While some might feel it was a lack of trust, or see the conditional blessing as an insult, Hill didn’t see it that way.

It wasn’t just because Hill felt he would never slip into the Evil Faction.

It was also because, if he were in their shoes, he would make the same choice.

If Hill, imbued with the power of the sun god, joined the Evil Faction,

every misdeed he committed would bring a trace of harm to the Sun God’s Faction; who knows which sin would be serious enough to drag down all the deities that blessed him?

For one’s own blessings to harm oneself is something no one would want to do.

Not even the Holy Mother would inflict damage upon herself.

Hill would certainly not put himself out for unnecessary grievances.

It’s important to be empathetic.

Hill leaned back on the bed, watching the birds fly by the window.

Was that a falcon?

This was grassland, so probably there were more of this kind of bird.

Next time he should bring Cohen out here—perhaps he’d find a suitable wife in this place.

Suddenly Alice burst in, ”Hill, when can we start planting flowers and grass here?”

”What’s the matter?” Hill asked.

”I went out to play, but everywhere around here stinks, it’s so upsetting,” Alice complained with her nose wrinkled, ”And that little hill over there is the stinkiest!”

In this Central City, all directions except towards the Dwarf Kingdom had problems!
