Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 389: Chapter 188: Temptations of Beauty, Hidden Perils

If Hill knew the reason why William was lamenting that the Goddess of the Hunt didn’t fancy the God of Archery, he would only tell the guy that the Goddess of the Hunt had eyes only for looks.

She was a true worshipper of beauty.

Hill certainly didn’t think she had much love for the Elven God King.

Even a woman who loved power would not treat her maid well after offering her to her lover, and even the daughter born to them was treated decently.

Without even a hint of possessiveness, what kind of love would that be?

A worshipper of beauty, combined with a lack of brains, was ultimately the reason for her downfall.

However, at this moment, Hill was just gently moving his Cloud Ship, following behind a group of undead girls.

What mainly caught his attention was the presence of Cunlü.

That girl wasn’t accompanied by the Duchess, nor was there any sign of the Old Age Striking King, only a fluffy pink bunny trailing behind her.

The girl he was arm in arm with seemed to be someone Hill had seen before during the battle on the Black and White Path, a Swordsman.

He clearly remembered her as a girl with flaming red lips and a valiant figure, but now she was dressed in flowing white, with a pure white rabbit following her.

Their destination was Hill’s Forest Array.

After William had slain a Demonized Mage, the Great Nobility probably felt uncomfortable with such things happening close by, so they all retreated to the Forest Array.

Hill moved quietly on the cloud, determined to find the best vantage point.

The group of Undead girls seemed as if they had just come from a battlefield to soothe their minds and bodies here.

They had no intention of speaking with the Nobles.

They spread a large tablecloth, took out some snacks and drinks, and sat down to chat.

They laughed and snuggled up to their rabbits, looking cute and charming.

Hill watched as the Nobles went from being wary and ready to leave at a moment’s notice to becoming gradually relaxed and smitten.

Not a single one left; they all stood a little further away, gazing at the group of beautiful girls.

Hill found the spot with the best view and waited quietly.

”Why haven’t those Nobles left yet? Are they waiting to get beaten up?” Merkel, who was watching from the side for a while, asked Hill.

”How can you tell?”

”Not a single young girl, all grown women,” Merkel licked its paw, ”The Undead Tribe doesn’t differentiate between ages when making friends. It’s clear they’re preparing to cause trouble.”

”I’m just wondering, are they planning to perform an innocent seduction here?” Hill leaned on the ship’s rail and said, ”These Nobles can’t be that stupid, can they?”

The Undead girls chatted and laughed, paying no mind to the standing Nobles.

The Nobles too smiled silently, enjoying the sight with wandering eyes, but not uttering a word.

It seemed they thought the Undead girls were waiting for them to speak offensively so they could strike back in reprimand.

The current attitude seemed to be that there was no reason not to take advantage of the situation—as long as I don’t speak up, what can you do!

Cunlü stood up, twirled around, and gently raised her hand to release a Holy Rain.

The floating golden droplets merged into the Water Mist, shimmering with colorful lights.

The girls laughed crisply.

One by one they stood in the rain, their hair slightly wet, sticking messily to their cheeks, looking lovely and innocent.

The eyes of the Nobles inevitably fell upon the hems of the girls’ skirts.

However, they were wearing Alchemy Equipment that automatically performed Purification and didn’t allow rain or snow to stick.

After a while, a group of male Undead arrived together.

Hill watched curiously with wide eyes.

They took their seats beside the girls and began happily playing with their girlfriends.

Hill saw Cunlü rolling into Hard Wind’s arms, with a grape on her fork, feeding it into his mouth.

The Nobles paused, seemingly realizing just then that the group of Undead hadn’t come to bother them, but for a date.

Their faces turned somewhat sour, especially seeing that the girls who had not spared them a glance were acting so gentle and adorable with their lovers.

Hill’s mouth twitched involuntarily.

He had already recognized several Undead women with particularly fiery bodies who were... well, he wondered how those few unlucky ones showing off their love affairs had been chosen.

Then, an argument broke out among the Undead girls.

After their lovers could not stop them, they resignedly decided to settle their dispute with a duel.

Soon someone made a dueling stage a short distance away from the Forest Array out of Earth.

The Mages turned it into hard Blue Oak Rock and drew an Isolation Array around it.

Their fighting was fierce and genuine.

The loser would indeed have to take a trip to the church.

No one paid attention to the group of Nobles, some were already playfighting on the stage, and some even set up tables and chairs to gamble.

Hill saw that the banker was Hard Wind, with Cunlü wrapping her arms around his neck, sitting on his lap.

Those wanting to fight would draw a number before stepping onto the stage.

The other members of the Undead Tribe placed their bets in front of the signing sheet.

The Undead really fought ferociously, as people with no sense of death delivered punches in the dark.

There were even a few instances where the house won everything.

Hill felt his head spinning. What exactly was the purpose of these Undead?

The Undead’s venue was bustling with excitement.

Pretty girls, waving their scarves, cheered loudly for the combatants.

Hill saw that even the Undead who were there on a mission began to be drawn over.

Soon, people were eager to jump onto the platform, looking for someone to fight.

Those still at the Knight stage were like chickens pecking at each other.

Unlike their predecessors, their style of fighting seemed more entertaining.

The people from that country never cared about the opinions of others, even amid the pointing and comments from the high-level Undead nearby. They fought with great fervor.

And they didn’t hesitate to place their bets at Hard Wind’s stall.

Hard Wind himself was hesitant about whether to deal with the affairs of these foreign Undead, but Cunlü didn’t care, casually picking up the draw tube and letting them draw lots and place their bets.

The Undead didn’t carry much money, as they had only recently arrived.

But because high-level Undead were present, they didn’t bet with Gold Coins.

So the new Undead almost rushed over en masse, everyone wanted in on the action—betting with Gold Coins could lead to winning Crystal Stones. It was a business opportunity too lucrative to give up.

It wasn’t until Spencer charged over, his face stern with anger, declaring that failing to complete their mission would count as their loss, that the crowd slowly began to disperse.

After spending a little money and enjoying the fun provided by the chickens, the high-level Undead gradually left.

Only a few girls remained, setting up tables and chairs, arranging drinks, and sitting to the side, their laughter and charm intact as they waited for those guys to fight again, eager to see the excitement and assess the skills of these newcomers.

Merkel let out a low chuckle, and Hill felt that he was snickering.

Hill knew what he was laughing at. The few girls that remained were the focus of much attention from the nobility.

It seems all men in the world look the same when admiring beauty.

No matter how sacred or beautiful the words, in the end, it boils down to a bountiful bosom and full behind.

Draping such a tantalizing figure in a sheer layer of purity only makes it better.

Especially the girls below, whispering together, breaking into fits of giggles from time to time, making one curious about what they were discussing.

Even though Hill knew they had to whisper to avoid giving themselves away.

These individuals were quite famous among the Undead.

After all, Hill had seen the video where to prove they weren’t cross-dressing men, they wore low-cut skirts, held hands, and sang drinking songs in their real voices.

”So this is to convey that each of them has a lover?” Hill muttered to himself.

The reclining Merkel suddenly stood up ”These few are men?”

”Yes,” Hill lightly replied. ”The nobles must have some idea, right? The Undead are notorious for being mismatched in gender, aren’t they?”

”Who are you fooling? Clearly you’re infatuated. There must be something wrong with that platform,” Merkel retorted with a rare eye roll, making a judgment.

Alice, curious, leaned over the bow and peered down, ”They’re going for it!”

The nobles were still cautious, even when it came to showing off in front of beauties.

They started by sending a few of their Knights to the dueling platform.

Neither Hard Wind’s nor Cunlü’s stall was taken down, and a Great Noble pretentiously took a seat at the front, his gaze involuntarily drawn to the smiling ladies looking this way.

But he was well aware that the least of these ladies were Sky Knights, not to be trifled with, and could only admire the highly elegant and attractive fighting Knights with regret.

Then the nobles stepped forward with graceful manners to place their bets.

Even knowing that such theatrical fighting meant little in terms of winning or losing, they still pretended to understand the finer points of the fight and discussed it analytically.

”What kind of fight is this?” Merkel asked curiously, ”Do Undead women really think this sort of thing is impressive?”

”What use is a Knight in front of a Sky Knight? It’s better to be pleasing to the eye, maybe it will even draw some attention,” Hill explained.

He had long realized that Merkel had a good grasp on politics and human analysis but was always clueless when it came to human affections between men and women.

In his mind, these were useless things, far less deserving of attention than engaging in schemes for one’s benefit.

After several rounds of Knights had fought without issue, and the Undead girls showed no signs of finding the low-rank battles dull, incessantly watching the action, the nobles began to take turns entering the fray.

It was getting late, many of the Undead who had been transporting materials had completed their missions and started to come back.

They didn’t care about placing wagers at high-level Undead stalls, nor were they concerned whether these were the Saral Nobles’ bets or not.

They just started to mutter about how poor the nobles were.

Betting one or two Gold Coins indeed seemed too little to those who had just earned a lot from high-level Undead.

Hearing this, the beautiful high-level Undead nonchalantly threw a dozen Crystal Stones onto the table, picking a handsome noble to bet on.

The presiding Great Noble frowned slightly as he pulled two Crystal Stones from his pocket and placed them on the opposite side.

”They’re out to make money off the women!” exclaimed Merkel in surprise, ”Indeed, to a woman, money isn’t as important!”

Hill leaned on the table, laughing.
