Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 357: Chapter 156: William, Who Has Already Lost Trust (Extra for the Unparalleled Heavenly Master Alliance Hierarch VII)

William didn’t care that his curses against the Mage Association were overheard; he then sat up straight and asked Hill, ”Why can’t sorcerers do it? After discovering that they might be associated with demons, those two legendary warlocks almost immediately ran to the Sorcerer Tower for help.”

”A sorcerer’s life is very long. The only short-lived ones are those of the demon series,” Hill replied in a measured tone, ”For a sorcerer, to lose one’s sanity is to be considered dead.”

William thought for a moment and understood. A sorcerer’s life is a constant struggle against their nature. Those with calmer bloodlines may fare better; those more volatile might end up no longer human.

Like Hill here, before becoming legendary, what worried them was not the laws but not turning into a bear.

”Why did that Water Sorcerer have to compete with you for that spell? And although the Tower Master of the Sorcerer Tower highly valued you, she didn’t make a sound in the end. Why is that? Even when I expressed my dissatisfaction, she said you had agreed very directly.”

”That one’s greatest worry isn’t achieving divinity but their short lifespan. In theory, a Water Sorcerer, once legendary, should live for tens of thousands of years.” Hill couldn’t help but laugh, ”Among the two legendary warlocks of the Mage Association, the only one who could be tempted by an increased lifespan is Alexis.

However, the method he used back then to burn his lifespan actually consumed a lot of his sanity. If he really used a demon’s method, he would likely realize that his sanity was collapsing as soon as he used it, maybe even showing signs of demonization.

He intended to use the method honored by the Water Sorcerers to dispel the demon’s aura and maintain his sanity, which wasn’t wrong.

As for the Tower Master, even if she valued me, I didn’t join the Sorcerer Tower, did I?

My kingdom is Saral, and hers is the Sorcerer Tower.

A normal leader should understand what His Majesty the King would do!”

William frowned slightly, ”Since it’s a matter of saving one’s life, it’s normal to be shameless. So why didn’t he speak directly, instead of behaving so obstinately?”

”He couldn’t show weakness to me,” Hill shook his head, ”My life has been too happy.”

Hill smiled serenely, ”Your Majesty must have also read my little legend. That bit of misfortune is nothing to most sorcerers. If I really thought I had a miserable first half of life, probably many sorcerers would think I’m just whining without cause.”

He looked up at William, ”Especially the legendary warlocks, each of whom has struggled out of torment. The battle between bloodline and sanity is definitely not as relaxed as mine. Think of their own bloody struggles in the past, and then look at me! Just because I’m a Nature Warlock, I get so lucky. Not to mention that my advancement was almost carefree, but after advancing, I could be stronger than most legendary mages.

There are few legendary warlocks who can face me with ease and tranquility.”

William suddenly laughed, ”Just like when the God of Time and Space looks at me, right? Sometimes he thinks I have it too easy and always wants to find something for me to do. And yet, I’m not idle at all!”

Hill shut his mouth, not saying anything. The God of Time and Space wouldn’t strike William with lightning, but that didn’t mean he would spare himself.

”No joke. These people only see your glory, not your sacrifices and efforts,” William said dismissively, leaning back in his chair, ”Let them get entangled in the struggles of deities and see. Without being exceedingly cautious and avoiding greed, more than half would be dead.”

Hill knew William was not the sort to begrudge others their ease after having suffered himself.

But sorcerers are inherently very expressive individuals, with clear loves and hates.

They know Hill is vital to the Sorcerer Tower, so they protect him. But nobody really wants to deal with this lucky Nature Warlock, that’s true as well.

Even more so for that Legendary Water Sorcerer Alexis; even if he knows it’s his own fault, he wouldn’t want to see a Hill who hasn’t taken a single misstep.

Hill kept quiet, just waiting to see what Alexis would do after he completely understood the spell.

Moreover, the most important thing was that Hill knew that no matter how much Alexis struggled, at best, he could only stabilize his sanity; it was impossible for him to easily become a Water Deity.

By next year, when the Water God born from the Spiral Pearls within Hill Valley emerged, Alexis would have plenty of frustration built up.

But what he told Hill was for the future of Water Sorcerers, never hinting at anything about Divinity, it wasn’t something to blame on Hill.

Even if Hill had guessed it, he had no obligation to remind someone who was impolite to him.

So he just smiled, ”Let’s see what they have done! As for matters of face, I don’t mind them.”

William found it very interesting, wondering just how Hill had grown up.

Everyone knows the saying ”Take a step back and the sky’s the limit,” but few can actually do it.

The only time Hill could have felt the warmth and coolness of human relationships must have been those four years before he turned sixteen, how did he develop such a steadfast disposition?

When next year comes around, William would find out why Hill could remain so calm and collected.

Knowing that no matter how much someone who was rude to him did was futile, of course he could stand unshaken as Mount Tai.

Hill blinked, in his Mental Sea, the Water Series Element Lord was asking him about the oil paintings.

It seemed that William’s people had arrived.

Hill quickly responded with permission for them to take away the paintings, then looked up at William, ”They’ve arrived at the territory and gotten the paintings. I’ll take my leave now.”

William nodded with a smile.

Spencer had already come in; he had arrangements to make for the Undead Tribe to start farming underground.

After bidding him a friendly farewell, Hill left.

”Polanio, where did you find so many seeds?” After Hill left, Spencer turned to ask William, ”Are Nature Warlocks that strong?”

”The Silvermoon Wolf God had initially been released from seclusion by Hill, and to express gratitude, gave him a Semi-Divine Artifact Seed Bag belonging to a Druid,” William replied with a laugh, ”Initially thought it was just making up the numbers, but it turned out to be very useful.”

”He really is unlucky,” Spencer said, recalling how Hill was just a Magister at that time and felt there was nothing lucky about it, ”To be of such a low level and yet get involved in the affairs of Deities.”

”Hill’s rise to legend happened so quickly, in fact, he’s encountered quite a few things. Only someone as upright as my cousin would only see others’ hardships,” William said with a smile, ”That’s why it’s comfortable to talk with people of good character!”

”What are you talking about? What are you planning to do?” Spencer asked worriedly, every time William suddenly praised him, there would be big trouble, and he was very busy, not wanting any more issues.

”Ah! Dear cousin, don’t be so mistrustful of me!” William said with a look of grievance, ”I was just overcome with emotion for a moment! This time I really wasn’t planning to trouble you!”

So all those times before you were indeed troubling me! Spencer couldn’t help but roll his eyes at William.
