Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 372: Chapter 171 A Battle on the Verge of Breaking Out

A thoroughly confused Hill received the King’s new orders from William’s Captain of the Guard.

It was also the first time he learned that this guy who dressed in knight armor every day was actually a magician who could fly.

The spells inherited from his bloodline were all enhancement-type; consequently, he simply relied on his strength and stamina, which were even greater than those of the Sky Knights, and snatched their business.

Hill asked this captain a few curious questions, as this was the first time he had seen such a magician.

After all, although no one had ever been able to find a pattern to magician awakenings,

the vast majority were motivated by suffering, seeking powerful strength.

Like this captain of the guard, he must have come from a magician family with a long line of inheritance.

They intended to stay hidden among ordinary people, so from a young age they trained their strength daily, concentrating during meditation on the enhancement-type magic they desired.

Sure enough, this one came from the hereditary Baron family of Haifa, which somewhat shied away from marrying outsiders and mostly took relatives as spouses, hence their bloodline continued to be passed down.

In order to ensure their bloodline didn’t cause trouble, they would memorize and meditate on the family’s enhancement-type magic and certain spells that could mask magic reactions, starting from the time they could remember.

Hearing a few kinds from him, Hill suspected it was the Silvermoon System, a type of illusion technique.

But they also knew that the reason they had been able to stay hidden was that their clan leader was always someone who hadn’t awakened as a magician.

In their family, if someone didn’t become a magician by adulthood, they would push themselves to become knights, eligible to inherit the Baron title.

The others would never leave their small territory.

People confined themselves like this, and after holding it in for too long,

when William appeared, they observed him for a while before resolutely bringing their entire family heritage over to his side.

This captain of the guard was the current Baron’s son.

William liked his ability to use various magic scrolls and directly made this young noble his Captain of the Guard.

The captain, not sparing his words, complained that they hadn’t wanted to do it so rashly, but the Undead Tribe had already visited their lands, and it was only a matter of time before they could no longer hide.

His father was willing, so once the family reached a consensus, he immediately swore loyalty to the King.

Having no choice, their family had taken a bloodline oath to survive, and even now that there was no need to hide, as the eldest son of the Baron, he was not eligible to inherit the title, so it was better for him to come out and work.

Hill didn’t dare to ask about the origins of his inherited bloodline, but it definitely didn’t include an Elven Bloodline.

The captain was a very tall and imposing figure.

Although Hill didn’t know what William was up to, he was unabashedly committed to making money.

And now with the Alchemy Golem for household chores that Fran had given, Hill was no longer interested in the ones he made himself.

But he had also figured it out, William was probably after his recipes, right?

His reputation as a gourmet should be loud enough.

Hill would never admit to being greedy, he just appreciated the beauty of food.

After seeing the captain of the guard off, Hill leaned on the window watching the frolicking Guardians below, wondering about the use of Sunflower leaves.

If William could send away all of the Undead and dispatch the Guardians to fetch these despite the danger, they must be of great use!

But he couldn’t figure it out. Although Sunflower leaves indeed have some purification abilities, they are quite weak!

Is William planning to make sachets to sell?

If sold to nobility, they could indeed make money, as long as he wasn’t part of the Evil Faction.

Hill abandoned his interest in those knights, since he had already quietly gotten some soiled Earth and planted several Sunflowers on his own Cloud Ship.

He didn’t need to collect a large number of seeds, just having the flowers in bloom was enough.

They shone like transparent golden crystals, dazzling and beautiful.

If one day it was discovered that these leaves had some special use, these few flowers would suffice for him.

Quietly raising his Cloud House to the highest point, Hill wanted to see what the Dwarves would do after the Undead passed.

He didn’t think the impetuous Dwarves could stand it for long.

He couldn’t help but chuckle as all the Cardinals from the Noble Church were rounded up by William and sent over there.

They were currently in front of the King’s Ship, waiting to board their carriages.

Hill looked carefully at the number of Cardinals, a full 13 of them.

He recognized the one encircled by these Cardinals, it should be Dionysio, although their faces were obscured by illusion spells, they couldn’t stop Hill’s vision.

The need for the Noble Temple to deploy twelve Cardinals to assist Dionysio indicated that they were probably planning to use their altar.

Standing on the altar, Dionysio could withstand a minor deity.

Even a Demigod wouldn’t be a problem.

An altar that would normally take three days to construct could probably be done by the Undead in half an hour.

And that was because such altars could only be built by hand.

Though it looked ornate, it was practically a three-tiered mound of Earth.

Only after being completed and drenched with the Holy Water produced by the Noble Church would it turn the color of red roses.

If the two Dwarven deities appeared, William could instantly teleport there through space.

If a Demigod came, relying on the altar and the officiating Demigod Dionysio could probably hold them off.

The Dwarf Kingdom likely wouldn’t dare to deploy any Legendary Mages to battle, for they had very few of them.

With their short-legged Shield Knights, if they came, there would be no escape.

Fran no longer needs to worry about the elves coming out to help the dwarves, so did he simply opt for a face-to-face battle with the dwarves?

The border of the Dwarf Kingdom is indeed built very tall and perfectly.

The metallic city wall reflects a cold glow, looking very imposing.

Hill looked into the distance and saw a long, dark iron-colored arc.

He remembered that when the dwarves first arrived in this world, to show their close relationship with the elves, they grandly declared that they would definitely not build any walls to separate themselves from their elven brothers.

That was until they had to swallow their words later on to resist the onslaught of magical beasts!

The Forest of the Elves need not worry about attacks from magical beasts, but the dwarves certainly do.

So why would the Elven God King believe that the dwarves would honestly form an alliance with him?

Probably because of arrogance and conceit! Believing that the dwarves, who knew his secrets, would never dare provoke him.

The dwarves could be called hotheaded, could be called stubborn, but thinking their silence was a sign of honesty would probably be an existence even more foolish than the Goddess of the Hunt.

They just aren’t very adept at communication, their speech unpleasant to hear, so they simply choose to stay quiet.

Hill thought an old saying from his homeland could represent these dwarves quite well: ”Three knives hide in a dwarf’s belly, each gripped tightly by their cunning minds.”

Hill looked down through the window as if someone was calling him.

Spencer was waving at him from below.

Hill slowly brought the Cloud Ship down, clearly understanding what he wanted.

As expected, Spencer wanted to get aboard to join the excitement.

He sincerely stated that he would be fine sitting on the grass outside, asking Hill for help, suspecting that a fight was about to break out over there.

But Fran wouldn’t let them go, worried that the camp might be ambushed.

The fellows from the Noble Church wouldn’t have any problems, but the Guardians who went over might end up losing more than half their number.

Spencer also had to guard Hill’s Forest Array, so he couldn’t possibly go out either.

Hill nodded in agreement, as this wasn’t a big deal.

He was willing to accommodate Spencer if he was alone.

Once he allowed him aboard, Hill arranged a table and chairs for Spencer on one side of the ship’s bow, and provided drinks and food.

Of course, he wasn’t going to sit with Spencer, and Spencer didn’t have such expectations.

It was only because he had known Hill for a long time and knew that Hill was willing to leave a margin for familiar people that Spencer dared to request a legendary figure to host him.

Returning to his room, Hill saw Alice and Merkel lying together at the window.

To watch the excitement, Hill had placed a long sofa by the window.

The two had left a space in the middle for Hill, having found a comfortable spot to lie in wait.

Hill commanded the Cloud Ship to rise to a higher point, then settled at a spot with a good view and stopped there.

Hill would definitely not leave Fran’s camp to go there to watch the commotion.

This time was different from the past; the dwarves would truly be out for blood.

The dwarves arrived quickly.

Although they didn’t understand why the humans had suddenly rushed over, they still appeared on the border wall just 2 hours later.

But they were only able to remain silent.

In 2 hours, that had been plenty for the familiar Undead Tribe to hastily erect a large camp of about 5,000 square meters by raising an Earth Wall and then transforming it into a stone wall.

Even an Alchemy Hut to substitute for the Lord’s Mansion had been constructed.

Logically, 5,000 square meters wouldn’t accommodate tens of millions of people, but who could blame them with the enormous backing of the Space-Time Deity!

In Hill’s eyes, the camp briefly shimmered then all of the Undead moved inside.

Hill observed for a while himself, and other than the place where the Noble Temple was situated, which the God of Time and Space hadn’t touched, other areas had been altered by Divine Power.

”How is this possible?” Merkel whispered, ”Even the Goddess of the Earth isn’t this powerful.”

”It’s temporary,” Hill had to tell him. ”He has used His Divine Power to create a temporary sanctuary, which can only last for 3 months. After 3 months, everything will revert back to its original state.”

Merkel nodded, still feeling that the power was too great.

Hill didn’t say much more, as he couldn’t possibly reveal the secrets of the Divine Arts of the God of Time and Space.

Those from the Noble Temple, standing in that corner, were not within the range of this Divine Art.

And within the range, Hill didn’t feel any other power.

So, as frightening as this Divine Art appeared, only the Undead could enter.

This was the real reason Fran stopped Spencer from taking the Guardians there.

But such a powerful Divine Art could only mean that Fran, the Space-Time Pope, had gone over as well.

The dwarves were stunned on the wall for a while, but they showed no intention of retreating. Instead, three demigods quickly approached.

Hill remembered that officially, the dwarves had only three demigods.

It seemed the dwarves weren’t planning to send individuals to their deaths.

Rather, they intended to join forces.

Then the two Fallen Gods must have also arrived.

Hill scanned the area but, unfortunately, even with his abilities, he could not find them.
