Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 368: Chapter 167 Viola is an Ambitious Half-Elf

After the drama in the starry sky ended, Hill continued to gaze into the distance from the window.

The Undead Tribe dug earnestly and piled the dirt with fervor.

In just a moment, a semi-circular small hill had begun to take shape.

In the forest more than a thousand meters opposite the small hill, Hill could make out shadowy human figures.

It was unclear whether they were Elf Druids or Ranger Mages from the Forest of the Elves, but they just watched the human’s actions without moving.

After all, this kind of dirty physical labor had always been assigned to the humans in this Triangle Zone by the elves. Even if those slaves worked themselves to death, what did it have to do with them?

They had paid a recompense that satisfied the humans!

But now, the elves were probably feeling embarrassed.

The elves, who took pride in their elegance, now had to come down to earth and bend over to dig in the dirt, observed by tens of millions of the Undead Tribe.

Otherwise, it wouldn’t take long for this filthy soil to encroach upon the outpost of the Forest of the Elves.

Hill could feel that there were more and more elves.

In their lifetimes, they probably never imagined a day like this, so none of them wanted to step out of the forest.

Instead, it was the Undead Tribe who finally spotted the elves in the forest. Almost all of them dropped what they were doing and rushed up the slope.

William’s decision to have them build a wall was indeed clever.

Many of the Undead Tribe suddenly picked up tablets for a quick look, and then the Mages began to shift their focus toward the muddy wall facing the elves.

People of other professions began to build flower beds on this side of the gradual slope.

The rapidity of millions of people was astonishing; they quickly assembled flower beds of various shapes, and then the remaining areas were converted by the Mages into hard stone slabs, only about 10 centimeters thick but enough to prevent sunflowers from blooming there.

After these tasks were completed, aside from some Undead Tribe members who collected sunflower seeds and spread them everywhere, everyone else rushed to the top of the slope.

They wanted to witness the appearance of the elves.

After all, most had never seen the Elf Princess in person before.

For those with intense curiosity, seeing something on a screen just wasn’t the same.

And this was not just a few, but thousands!

Hill watched amusedly as numerous Alchemy Huts suddenly appeared on the slope.

Even Cloud Houses emerged.

Now, the majority of those sitting on the ground and shouting were the later members of the Undead Tribe.

There must have been quite a few people who opened their homes to the Scattered Ones, not wanting to leave them outside to sit with those newcomers.

Most people, even in a game, still managed to present a united front.

The advantages here were not enough to make them shoulder the infamy of being traitors.

Moreover, their country in that world was evidently very strong, and everyone felt a sense of pride that soared above others.

Hill didn’t deny that the allure of foreign things existed in any world—back in his time, when his country was already so powerful, weren’t there still people emigrating to that dilapidated island nation?

But those who played games produced in their own country, such people were far fewer.

That kind of person, even if they would play a foreign game that frequently crashed, wouldn’t play a major domestic production.

Hill was also curious, watching to see when these elves would start working.

Then he watched from afar as several falcons suddenly soared into the sky, heading straight for his Forest Array.

He was startled for a moment, but William seemed to have no intention of stopping these birds from landing on the gingko tree.

It seemed that as long as these animal Druids did not revert to their original form, William was prepared to turn a blind eye.

The people from Saral’s side showed little reaction, but Hill noticed that Dionysio, along with a few subordinates, watched the direction of the Forest Array with hostility.

It made sense, as the God of Nobility was the one who had trapped the elves the most grievously.

Having obtained the Papal Scepter, Dionysio, who had strength comparable to a Demigod, would have caught these Druids easily if he really decided to act.

But he only touched the Scepter in his hand for a while, then turned and led his people away.

Hill clenched his jaw; Viola indeed had a lot of nerve.

Hill glanced again at the location of Fran’s study, wondering what expression his grandfather had now. He must have also seen what had just transpired.

Fran, holding the blueprint and looking in the direction of the Forest Array, just wanted to grab that reckless woman by the neck and ask her if she had lost her mind.

Did she think that just because William hadn’t interfered with their activities nearby, they could strut in boldly?

Just now, Dionysio had almost taken action.

Don’t think that just because the Goddess of the Hunt and the Lord of the Moon Elves, who had seduced the God of Nobility, were gone, the Noble Temple no longer despised the Moon Elves.

Now, who didn’t know that the Druids were the elves with a purer Moon Elves bloodline?

Dionysio, who went from a high and mighty Pope candidate to a Pope who acted with respect before William, owed much of that transformation to those two goddesses.

Even though everyone knew that it was the Elven God King orchestrating from behind, it was the Moon Elf Goddess who appeared.

It had been so long since Silvermoon had spoken a word to the Moon Elves, not only because their bloodline was no longer pure, but also because this race, after aiding foreign elves against the deities of this world, had incurred a debt of sin.

The number of Druids appeared large, but that was because they had long lifespans.

From Viola’s decent status among the Druids, it was clear that their ranks were thinning.

Otherwise, even as Druids, they were elves proud of their own bloodlines.

How could they possibly be so friendly toward Half-Elves!

Adrian, looking at Fran’s iron-blue face, couldn’t help asking, ”Teacher, are you worried about that lady?”

”Of course not,” Fran scoffed, ”I just don’t want her to die in front of Hill, and then have Hill deal with her corpse.”

Adrian nodded in agreement, ”That’s true. Even if there’s no affection, watching one’s grandmother being killed by someone is too cruel.”

Fran shook his head, ”The temperament of elves, they don’t listen to advice. They’ve been high above for too long, even if they know the current situation is not in their favor, they can’t shake off their old habits.

Forget it, leave it be. Since Dionysio hasn’t made a move yet, unless Viola herself goes to him seeking death. She’s just proud, not foolish. That’s a Demigod.”

Fran glanced out the window. Viola was no fool and would not pin her life on the mercy of Fran or Hill.

In this camp, she only needs to guard against William and Dionysio.

Has she reached some understanding with William?

Fran, leaning against the window mused, and glanced several times in the direction of the King’s Ship, Dionysio with his men had gone inside and hadn’t come out since.

Moreover, several Cardinals who had been watching the Forest Array were called away.

Maybe it’s not some kind of alliance, Viola doesn’t have that status yet.

But the ambition to become the Half-Elf Queen, she certainly has it and has shown it in front of William.

Fran recalled the past, Viola was always dissatisfied with the status of Half-Elves.

Even being three-quarters Elf, she was always the one who could be abandoned at any moment.

Always by her mother’s side, yet always having to concede to those utterly useless misses just because of their pure bloodlines.

She definitely has royal blood, but when she goes out, she only dares to move with the lower branches of elves, otherwise she can’t even speak a word.

So it was no surprise to Fran that Viola eventually gave up the luxurious life in the Elf Imperial City and went to the wilderness to be a free-spirited animal Druid.

Now, the status in the Forest of the Elves is no longer as unattainable as in the past.

As long as Viola still respects the Elf Deity System up in the heavens and doesn’t claim to no longer be part of the elves, building a Half-Elf Kingdom in the wilderness, the Elven God King probably won’t be angry enough to punish her.

The only problem is the position of God of Half-Elves, Fran couldn’t help but smile a little. If Viola wants it, she now has a competitor.

Viola must know that as soon as she enters this camp, she is within William’s sight.

As long as she piques William’s interest, William will definitely engage.

Given William’s temperament, standing in front of the Forest of the Elves and not being able to do anything would likely be very irritating to him now.

So as long as it guarantees some trouble for those guys in the Forest of the Elves, he would do anything.

And that also means simply giving this female elf a break, just to wait and see how far she could go.

Fran put down the blueprint and picked up the jug to pour a cup, ”Adrian, what do you say, if the Mage Association’s Legendary, the competition for the position of God of Half-Elves can’t outdo a Druid, wouldn’t that be more interesting?”

Adrian was stunned for a moment, and suddenly realized, looking again at the intermittent falcons falling from the Forest Array, surprised at Fran.

”I asked His Majesty the King yesterday how many Druids have entered the camp recently and how to guard against them.

During small talk, he mentioned something he found interesting.

Elf Druid’s falcons are white and black. Only the Half-Elves have gray and brown ones.

I never knew why His Majesty would say that, but now I suddenly feel like Viola probably told him something.”

Fran took a sip of wine, ”You see, even changing into an animal, they all have so many differences.”

Adrian, leaning against the window watched for a long time, ”All are gray and brown.”

”The leader of those is Viola,” Fran revealed a slight smile, ”She’s standing on the highest branch.”

”Teacher, does this lady also know about Hill letting the Mage Association’s Half-Elf bully her?” Adrian suddenly asked.

”Don’t think too much,” Fran shook his head. ”For Viola, that’s first a competitor, only afterward the person who bullied her grandchild. Giving a casual blow is no issue, but going directly to confront is unlikely.”

Adrian laughed, ”As long as she knows, that’s enough for me. I just want that casual strike. The competition for the Divine Position will only be more brutal, I just hope that the one who loses will not be easily let go.”

The two didn’t say what would happen if Viola failed.

What does it have to do with them?

Even Hill, knowing that would not care.

Seeing someone battle for their own ambition, those who don’t want to be involved should best not say a word at all.
