Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1234: Chapter 668: Inciting Conflict_2

Zhou Yun said thank you.

After the others left, Wen Bing told Zhou Yun, ”Your international recognition isn’t low now.”

”Actually, it’s not that high. Situations like the one earlier are rare. Most of the people who know me are from the film, entertainment, and fashion-related industries—they know me because of their work reasons.” Zhou Yun had a clear sense of self-awareness, ”Of course, many in the United States might know me because of that news incident before.”

”I heard that the show ’Deep Sea’ is doing well in the United States? It’s been welcomed by many?” Wen Bing asked.

”It’s doing okay. It has indeed achieved an unexpected success and broke the streaming records for Chinese dramas in the US,” Zhou Yun said, ”But that’s mainly because Chinese dramas have historically had little real influence in the United States—a lot of our domestic dramas sold to the US are mainly aimed at the Chinese community.”

”Small steps accumulate over time, it’s a process, but ’Deep Sea’ definitely helped you gain some loyal fans in the US,” Wen Bing said, ”That’s enough, at least you’re no longer a nobody there.”

”Whether I’m a nobody is not that important; my work focus isn’t in the US.”

”Your work focus is in our own country, but the world is yours to conquer,” Wen Bing laughed, ”How can you conquer the world without conquering the US market?”

Zhou Yun: ”You’re right.”

As Zhou Yun filmed abroad, there was a whirlwind in the domestic entertainment scene.

While ’Deep Sea’ helped Yuehai Network break the record for short dramas monetizing, Wei Ru Xue’s ’Flying with Phoenix’ also premiered on Chestnut Video.

When this drama first aired, it sparked a lot of criticism—some criticized it for being another so-called ”strong female lead,” others criticized Wei Ru Xue’s costume being too ugly. But none of this could hold back the show’s impressive popularity, which topped several authoritative data platforms with its high heat.

’Deep Sea,’ not airing daily and nearing its end, was often overshadowed by ’Flying with Phoenix.’

The former’s audience was ultimately not as broad as ’Flying with Phoenix.’

Meanwhile, ’Immortal Feather Decision’ also premiered as scheduled, triggering a viewing frenzy among the youth.

Strictly speaking, the show’s level of discussion and viewership was not as high as ’Deep Sea’ and ’Flying with Phoenix,’ but its popularity exploded among audiences under 20. The show’s leads became overnight sensations, with the buzz on social platforms rivaling that of Zhou Yun and Wei Ru Xue.

Young people comprise the major fan demographic.

Zhou Yun and Wei Ru Xue’s positions have long been solidified, with fan groups not as fiercely active as they were earlier.

Alternatively, fans who liked ’Immortal Feather Decision’ due to their love for the IP watched the show delightedly, and the show’s production quality left them very satisfied, earning great acclaim.

The three major dramas brought great profits to all three streaming platforms.

However, the most popular remains ’Flying with Phoenix,’ as its simulcast on TV led to a continuous rise in ratings, shocking the industry by breaking 1.5 after ten days.

Wei Ru Xue achieving a rating of 1.5 in today’s era left even the haters speechless.

Moreover, the upward trend seemed poised to break 2; it was only a matter of seeing how far ’Flying with Phoenix’ would go.

In comparison, the discussion and high acclaim of ’Deep Sea’ were concentrated among the white-collar elite, not causing much of a stir among older generations.

All three dramas are popular, but their popularity extends to different areas.

Zhou Lan was originally negotiating with some top brands, discussing further cooperation space, when suddenly online comments appeared claiming Zhou Yun’s new drama was completely overshadowed by Wei Ru Xue’s new drama.

These obviously inflammatory remarks were initially not a big concern for Zhou Lan, who just reminded the PR team to control the heat and avoid causing conflicts between fan groups.

However, Zhou Lan didn’t expect Wei Ru Xue’s agent, Sui Yu, would address this topic in an interview, saying directly, ”Zhou Yun’s new drama is also very good, but ’Deep Sea’—to be honest, the script was initially offered to us. We hesitated for a long time and ultimately passed because Wei Ru Xue doesn’t have Zhou Yun’s luck to meet so many top directors. We couldn’t be sure if we could find a good team to film this good script. A great script, without a great team, is a waste.”
