Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1203: Chapter 658: Golden Ball Awards Ceremony (Part 7)

Zhou Yun encouraged him, ”Don’t worry, with me as a box office lucky charm, ’Two Tigers’ certainly won’t do poorly, though I haven’t seen the final cut yet.”

Wen Bing said, ”New Shield held two internal screenings, and the feedback was okay. It’s just that this kind of action-packed film might be too intense and not suitable for the Spring Festival when families go out to watch movies together.”

”But the market can’t be all family-friendly movies; this year, ’Two Tigers’ should be the only action film for the Spring Festival release, right?”

”Currently scheduled for the Spring Festival are our film and Song Chi’s spy film ’Laissez-faire’. It’s also a star-studded blockbuster. Apart from these, there’s a comedy starring Shen Yao, which is currently leading the pre-sales, plus a sci-fi comedy directed by Tan Yaoxing and a motivational film by Chen Shimo.”

Zhou Yun listened and said, ”The genres are quite distinct.”

”Everyone is afraid of being too aggressive and ending up hurting each other,” Wen Bing said. ”Of course, apart from these, there are two animated films premiering as well.”

”I remember last year’s ’Great Saint’ made over four billion at the box office,” Zhou Yun said.

’Great Saint’ was the animated film from last year’s Spring Festival release.

Wen Bing nodded.

Zhou Yun said, ”We do our work diligently, and the rest depends on the movie’s appeal to the audience.”

”Yes,” Wen Bing nodded.

Although he nodded, Zhou Yun could still see that Wen Bing was nervous.

With a movie release, the director’s pressure is naturally the most intense.

Because, as everyone says, a movie is a director’s art.

Whether it sells well or is critically acclaimed.

’Life’ was a gem before, but now with ’Two Tigers’ completely changing genre and type, will the audience accept it?

Zhou Yun knew Wen Bing was nervous; she’s also anxious about the uncertain future.

’Female Assassin’ is a spin-off of ’Two Tigers’. Initially, New Shield wasn’t eager to greenlight this film so quickly; they wanted to first see the box office and reviews for ’Two Tigers’, as well as the audience’s attitude towards Zhou Yun’s character, before deciding whether to make it and how much to invest.

But later, due to Zhou Yun’s hectic schedule, if ’Female Assassin’ wasn’t put on the agenda soon, Zhou Yun’s availability might be pushed one or two years ahead. Plus, Yao Yuanfeng was particularly eager to have closer collaboration with Zhou Yun at the time, so ’Female Assassin’ was greenlit and officially entered the preparation stage.

The success of ’Two Tigers’ would somehow affect New Shield’s confidence in ’Female Assassin’.

After meeting with Wen Bing, Zhou Yun went home to rest for a day and then visited Song Chi at the ’Jiangyun Platform’ crew.

It’s said that shooting for ’Jiangyun Platform’ has been very challenging.

Director Zuo Hang demanded high standards. Any detail not meeting the standards on site had to be corrected by Zuo Hang, which slowed down the progress of ’Jiangyun Platform’.

Song Chi estimated that ’Jiangyun Platform’ might not finish filming on time.

Zhou Yun went to the set for a visit and was pulled by Zuo Hang to cameo in a shot.

Zhou Yun agreed happily, acting as a woman who fell in panic and was helped up by Song Chi.

The scene was very simple but ended up taking half a day to shoot.

Zhou Yun experienced firsthand how high Zuo Hang’s standards were.

He even demanded that when she was helped up by Song Chi, a lock of her bangs had to fall in an exact way and be put back in place with her fingers.

Initially, Zhou Yun didn’t understand why this was necessary, until after struggling through more than twenty takes just to get the lock of hair to fall exactly as Zuo Hang envisioned it. When the shot was finally completed, Zhou Yun went to review the footage and was amazed by how it looked.

Though Zhou Yun herself acted that scene, she had no idea while performing that this moment caught on camera would have a sense of vulnerability and bewildered beauty.

Zuo Hang said, ”Thanks for your hard work.”

Zhou Yun said, ”I’m convinced.”

She understood why Song Chi tolerated Zuo Hang’s constant delays in filming progress.

To be honest, although Zuo Hang spends more time, he knows how to shoot well.

Zhou Yun suddenly felt tempted and asked, ”Director, what are you planning to shoot next? Do you have a role that suits me?”

Zuo Hang bluntly said, ”I do have one, but your pay is too high; I can’t afford it.”

”The pay is negotiable,” Zhou Yun said. ”Can I take a look at the script?”

”It’s just a supporting role,” Zuo Hang said, ”and it’s a madwoman.”

Zhou Yun’s heart skipped a beat.

”You think the role that suits me is a madwoman?” Zhou Yun asked in surprise.

Zuo Hang said, ”She’s a beautiful young madwoman.”

Zhou Yun: ”...”

She said, ”Okay.”

”If you’re interested in playing the role, I’ll send you the script later; though it’s not completely revised,” Zuo Hang said.

”Sure, send it to me,” Zhou Yun said.

Zhou Yun stayed with Song Chi at the ’Jiangyun Platform’ set for three days and asked, ”What about the performance for the Spring Festival Gala? Can you set it aside before the official performance?”

At the Spring Festival Gala, Song Chi definitely couldn’t skip rehearsals.

No celebrity, no matter how famous, skips the Spring Festival Gala rehearsal.

Song Chi said, ”Yes, I’ve already requested leave from the crew, and I’ll attend the last three rehearsals.”

Zhou Yun nodded, ”That’s good.”

However, Song Chi won’t be able to attend the promotion for ’Laissez-faire’.

He really couldn’t find the time.

Fortunately, besides Song Chi, ’Laissez-faire’ has many other celebrity actors, so the promotional events wouldn’t lack star power.

Zhou Yun hugged Song Chi, ”I’ll be heading to Beijing this afternoon. Since you are filming, I won’t say goodbye before leaving.”

”Mm.” Song Chi kissed Zhou Yun on the lips, ”Let me know when you arrive.”

Zhou Yun nodded.

”By the way, don’t forget to contact Sedar; I promised him,” Zhou Yun reminded.

Zhou Yun was referring to the matter where Sedar entrusted Zhou Yun to introduce Song Chi.

Song Chi nodded with a smile, ”Got it, don’t worry, I won’t let you lose face with your friend.”

In the afternoon, Zhou Yun flew to Beijing.

As soon as she landed, Zhou Yun received a message from Liu Yuqian: Xiao Yun, are you back in the country? Do you have time to meet?

Zhou Yun replied: I just arrived in Beijing, Sister Yuqian, where are you?

Liu Yuqian: What a coincidence? Of course, I’m in Beijing. Do you have time now?

Zhou Yun said: I’m still on the plane and taxiing, estimated to reach the city in two hours.

Liu Yuqian said: Which hotel are you staying at? I’ll wait for you there.

Zhou Yun agreed and gave Liu Yuqian the name of the hotel.

When Zhou Yun arrived at the hotel, it was already 6:30 in the evening.

As Zhou Yun entered the lobby and waited for Zheng Xiaojue to process the check-in, she looked around but couldn’t spot Liu Yuqian, so she called her.

”I’m at a cafe nearby, have you arrived?”

”Yeah, just reached. Sorry, Sister Yuqian, there was heavy traffic the whole way, hence the delay,” Zhou Yun said. ”I’m so hungry; shall we have dinner together?”

”Sure, I’ll come over and find you now.”
