Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1204: Chapter 659: An Idea

Liu Yuqian sat in front of Zhou Yun. It had been a long time since they last met, and Liu Yuqian had cut her hair a little shorter. As soon as she sat down, she placed her phone face down on the table and smiled at Zhou Yun.

Zhou Yun asked, ”Sister Yuqian, you were in such a hurry to find me. Is there something wrong?”

Liu Yuqian nodded and said, ”There’s something particularly urgent, Xiao Yun, I’m sorry. If possible, I really wouldn’t want to trouble you, but I really have no choice. I want to borrow some money from you, is that okay?”

”Sister Yuqian, did something happen?” Zhou Yun looked at Liu Yuqian in surprise, ”How much do you need to borrow?”

Liu Yuqian pursed her lips and hesitated before speaking, ”I previously made a bet with the company and lost. I have to pay them thirty million. I’ve been trying to gather the money for a long time, but I’m still short five million and can’t scrape it together. Xiao Yun, I’m sorry to ask you for this favor. I feel ashamed myself, but I really have no other way.”

Zhou Yun understood immediately after Liu Yuqian explained.

The news of celebrities and artists making betting agreements with companies was very popular a few years ago. These past one or two years, not so much, but back then, any artist with a bit of fame, you could see news on the internet of them betting with companies.

In the face of profit, who wouldn’t be tempted? Who wouldn’t want to become rich overnight?

But few people actually managed to complete the bet successfully in the end.

Zhou Yun was actually a bit hesitant. First of all, five million is no small figure; it’s a very large sum. Zhou Yun could indeed afford it, or Liu Yuqian wouldn’t have come to her. But being able to afford it is one thing; whether she’s willing to give it is another. Secondly, Zhou Yun and Liu Yuqian weren’t close enough to justify lending such money. Their relationship was good, but they’d only known each other for about a year, and they might only meet a few times a year usually. If Liu Yuqian borrowed the money and didn’t repay it, Zhou Yun wasn’t completely sure about Liu Yuqian’s character or trustworthiness.

Zhou Yun asked, ”Sister Yuqian, may I ask what will happen if you don’t manage to repay this money?”

Liu Yuqian said, ”My own company will be bought back by them, and I will lose 30% of my shares, and for the next ten years, I can’t dissolve the exclusive performance agency relationship.”

Zhou Yun understood immediately.

Liu Yuqian apparently seized the opportunity when capital was pouring in frantically, and started her own company, then made a betting agreement with her old company. The specifics of the deal aren’t known, nor are the terms, but both parties agreed for the company to provide Liu Yuqian and her company certain things. Through her company, Liu Yuqian must complete a certain target within a timeframe; otherwise, she would face the consequences of failing the betting agreement.

Liu Yuqian said, ”Xiao Yun, I need your help.”

Zhou Yun nodded, ”Sister Yuqian, I’ll help you, but you have to promise me to repay the money within two years.”

”Of course.” Liu Yuqian nodded, ”Believe me, I’ll repay the money as quickly as possible.”

”Alright.” Zhou Yun agreed.

This was about emergency rescue.

After meeting with Liu Yuqian, Zhou Yun called Zhou Lan to ask her to help investigate whether Liu Yuqian’s story was true.

Upon confirmation of its truth, Zhou Yun transferred the money to Liu Yuqian.

Liu Yuqian sent a string of thank you messages, and ended with: Xiao Yun, don’t worry, I will definitely repay you.

Zhou Yun replied with an ”OK.”

Zhou Yun discussed the matter with Song Chi.

Song Chi said, ”Ah, there are many people around me making bets like this, but most of them fail. Previously Zuo Jing also tried it—signed a bet to achieve 3.5 billion in profits in three years. Do you know how many films I acted in those three years?”

”How many?” Zhou Yun asked.

”Not including cameos and supporting roles, I acted as the lead in thirteen films.” Song Chi said, ”In addition, I appeared in over fifty shows, with ten as a regular guest.”

”So many?” Zhou Yun gasped.

”Yes, that’s why I later refused to renew my contract and decided to start my own company. Those three years had a huge impact,” Song Chi said. ”Other artists make bets by themselves, and no matter how hard it is, the gains are theirs. But at the time, being with Zuo Jing, I didn’t have any shares, just being a contracted artist sharing profits, arranged to work hard over those three years.”
