Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1216: Chapter 662: Triumphantly Advancing 2

The comedy film ”I’m the Boss” by Shen Yao received tremendous audience acclaim, praised for bringing laughs till roosters crowed.

The animated film ”Jade Dragon” was full of passion and intensity, making audiences teary-eyed and brimming with enthusiasm.

Directed by Wen Bing, starring Liang Yuanpu and Zhou Yun, ”Two Tigers” delivered thrilling action scenes with brisk pace, accompanied by multiple twists that left audiences stunned.

Featuring an all-star cast including Song Chi and Zhang Hongyu, ”Laissez-faire” showcased impressive acting talent, combining suspense and brain-teasing elements that made viewers shiver, ending in a tear-jerking finale.

A trending term emerged: The strongest Spring Festival season ever.

The box office results were dominated by the top four films.

”I’m the Boss” made 790 million on its first day, igniting the market and breaking the opening day record for a film starring Shen Yao.

”Two Tigers” achieved 300 million on its first day, setting a new record for films starring Liang Yuanpu and Zhou Yun.

”Jade Dragon” reached 110 million on its first day, becoming the strongest dark horse.

”Laissez-faire” earned 100 million on its first day, with great reviews, albeit hindered by its theme in this family-friendly Spring Festival slot.

Aside from ”Jade Dragon” being a dark horse, these three films met the expectations of their filmmakers and the market.

The filmmakers of ”Laissez-faire” originally didn’t expect the opening day box office to reach 100 million.

On the second day, the box office battle intensified.

”I’m the Boss” continued to lead, but ”Jade Dragon” and ”Laissez-faire” remained neck and neck, while ”Two Tigers” faced challenges because many commented that although Zhou Yun was the titular protagonist, she had limited screen time, about twenty minutes, with one splendid action scene, but Liang Yuanpu was the actual lead, causing some Zhou Yun fans to back off.

At this time, New Shield officially announced that Wen Bing’s new film ”Female Assassin,” starring Zhou Yun, would start shooting in March as a spin-off of ”Two Tigers.”

Previously, Zhou Yun mentioned this, but New Shield’s announcement still garnered much attention.

New Shield aimed to counteract the negative feedback about ”Two Tigers” having too little Zhou Yun by releasing this news.

But the box office was still impacted, with ”Two Tigers” dropping to 240 million on the second day.

”Jade Dragon” and ”Laissez-faire” both saw increases, compared to the first day, to 120 million and 150 million respectively.

”Laissez-faire” earned strong reviews, especially from critics and industry professionals.

Fans of Song Chi were posting ”Song Chi, the king, is back.”

Many industry insiders predicted that Song Chi might be revisited by film awards thanks to this work.

”Laissez-faire” showed excellent box office performance, and Song Chi’s acting was highly praised.

In comparison, discussions on Zhou Yun revolved around her stunning performance in ”Two Tigers,” despite her limited screen time.

Fortunately, ”Two Tigers” maintained a brisk pace, never dragging.

Initially, many audiences worried the film would be dull, akin to an art film because Wen Bing was directing it.

As the only action film in the Spring Festival lineup, its market was substantial.

Especially, the fight scene between Liang Yuanpu and Zhou Yun received high praise; data showed that 30% of viewers who watched the film praised this scene on their social platforms.

New Shield’s promotion team quickly shifted the movie’s marketing focus to highlight the audience’s commendation and the merits of the action scenes.

On the third and fourth days, ”Two Tigers” managed to stabilize the box office, avoiding further major declines, maintaining around 220 million.

However, ”Jade Dragon” and ”Laissez-faire” remained closely matched in their box office performance with no clear leader.

Nevertheless, ”Laissez-faire” was certain to break 1 billion in box office, promising substantial profits.

The studio was thrilled.

Song Chi was delighted as well.

He was set to earn a share of the profits.

He was about to go to Jiangyun Platform for filming.

Zhou Yun also began preparing for ”Female Assassin” with action training.

When ”Two Tigers” hit 1 billion, Yao Yuanfeng sent a hundred red envelopes in the main group of creators, making everyone’s hands numb from grabbing.

Yao Yuanfeng also proactively rewarded Zhou Yun with a bonus.

”Box Office Queen, well-deserved!” Yao Yuanfeng messaged Zhou Yun.

”Two Tigers” broke 1 billion in less than a week.
