Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1231: Chapter 667: A Woman’s Wisdom (Part 2)

But Wen Bing still filmed very seriously.

This was something Zeng Yeng could not understand.

If it was just a passing scene, just film what needs to be filmed; why treat these unimportant shots like crafting a piece of art?

Including the moment Zhou Yun brushed past another person, including that trace of casual weariness in Zhou Yun’s demeanor.

Ultimately, Zeng Yeng could only explain it as ”Wen Bing is still a director born from art films.”

This was not Zeng Yeng’s first time as a producer; she was a certified ”New Shield System” producer with a wealth of industry experience, and many productions by New Shield feature her involvement.

But she was also a typical ”director-oriented” producer; no matter whom she collaborated with, she treated them as partners—after all, the directors she worked with were generally not top-tier, top-tier directors were not within her collaboration range.

With New Shield backing her, coupled with the company’s internal assessment criteria, Zeng Yeng always managed budget control and financial management very strictly.

Among the projects where Zeng Yeng served as executive producer, not one exceeded the budget, which was her most famous achievement internally.

This time, New Shield arranged for Zeng Yeng to join Wen Bing on ”Female Assassin” partly because of her experience; such large group management requires an experienced producer like her. The other reason was due to this filming spanning many countries, and Zeng Yeng had experience with international projects.

She initially expected that since Wen Bing was a contracted director with New Shield, he should be ”knowledgeable,” but who knew their ideas would often clash, especially regarding the shooting plan. Wen Bing always had many fresh ideas, introducing numerous unforeseen elements into the daily filming schedule, driving Zeng Yeng crazy.

And this was just the situation for on-location city shooting. What would happen when the location changes to challenging fight scenes and large-scale explosions?

Just thinking about the potential situations she might face later made Zeng Yeng feel overwhelmed.

What further frustrated Zeng Yeng was Zhou Yun, after a brief period of neutrality, publicly sided with Wen Bing.

Unlike Wen Bing, Zhou Yun was not a New Shield contracted actor, and Zeng Yeng herself had sources indicating that Zhou Yun was embroiled in conflicts and tug-of-war with Yao Yuanfeng, with both parties currently at a stalemate.

Zeng Yeng was not pleased to become a certain ”fuse,” as it would be a loss for her.

Who knows what she might ”ignite.”

Zeng Yeng decided to invite Zhou Yun out for a one-on-one chat.

So, the evening before the crew prepared for a special event, Zeng Yeng invited Zhou Yun out for dinner.

Zhou Yun did not refuse.

Zeng Yeng laughed and said, ”Thank heavens, I haven’t annoyed you to the point where you wouldn’t want to come out for dinner with me.”

Zhou Yun said, ”Sister Yeng, why say that? When did I ever get angry with you?”

Zeng Yeng: ”I, as a person, have gotten used to handling all matters big and small in the crew. Friends I’ve worked with often said my management style was like a nanny. In the past, everyone liked to include me in discussions on various matters—partly because many final decisions needed my approval, and partly because they believed my experience was vast, and involving me in discussions could yield constructive opinions.”

”Well, of course,” Zhou Yun said, ” ’Female Assassin’ is the largest investment film I’ve worked on so far. The fact that Yao Yuanfeng entrusted this crew to your management already sufficiently proves your ability and experience, and I trust you too.”

”Ah?” Zeng Yeng was a bit surprised at Zhou Yun’s comment. She said, ”Yesterday, you told me in front of so many people not to participate in discussions with you and Wen Bing anymore. I thought you doubted my ability.”

”Oh, Sister Yeng, you misunderstood me.”

Zhou Yun sincerely held his hand over his chest and said, ”I just don’t like it when, as an actor, communicating performance content with the director, others interrupt my dialogue with the director. It’s part of my creative habit. If I made you uncomfortable, I sincerely apologize.”

Zeng Yeng extended her right hand, placed it on Zhou Yun’s arm, and said, ”Please don’t be so courteous with me. You are the soul of this film; without you, the film cannot proceed. I fully understand whatever you do.”
