Chapter 1220: Chapter 663: Qingmu Award Nomination (3)

This year’s nomination list mostly comes from popular movies, unlike last year, which was dominated by low-grossing art films.

The most talked-about comment regarding this year’s Qingmu Award nomination list is ”Song Chi and Zhou Yun, this couple team, have won big.”

Zhou Yun was very happy after seeing this nomination list.

Because both ”Behind the Scenes” and ”Laissez-faire” received numerous nominations.

When Zhou Lan analyzed this nomination list, she said it was a pity.

Zhou Yun thought Zhou Lan was feeling sorry for Wang Jing.

But Zhou Lan said, ”It would have been better if they had nominated Teacher Zeng Lili for Best Supporting Actress at the time. The chance for Best Supporting Actress is much higher than for Best Actress.”

Although Zhou Yun is the nominal leading actress in ”Behind the Scenes,” in reality, several people have leading roles. Therefore, both Zeng Lili and You Jiang were submitted for the leading role category and both successfully received nominations.

Zhou Yun said, ”Why do you say that?”

”Your chance of winning consecutively is extremely low, basically no chance, and Zeng Lili didn’t showcase overwhelming skill over you in ’Behind the Scenes.’ Plus, you had more screen time and a richer character. In the same nomination category, the judges will definitely consider whether awarding her would be convincing to the public. With you there, it’s hard to be convincing.”

Zhou Yun: ”That makes sense.”

”Yes.” Zhou Lan nodded. ”Yin Lin, who got the same nomination, already shared a Lingjun Award with you before. Considering this, Yin Lin doesn’t stand much chance, so basically, this year’s Best Actress is a competition between Zhang Hongyu and Cheng Benqin of ’Song of Wandering.’”

Zhou Yun: ”Then who do you think has a better chance?”

”Cheng Benqin.” Zhou Lan said, ”Zhang Hongyu’s role in ’Laissez-faire’ is on par with Zeng Lili’s role in ’Behind the Scenes.’ Strictly speaking, not the leading actress; Ning Xiner is the rightful leading actress in ’Laissez-faire,’ but she didn’t get nominated this time. Instead, Zhang Hongyu got in, while ’Song of Wandering’ is entirely Cheng Benqin’s one-woman show, portraying a woman’s tragic experiences at the bottom layer of society. Her performance is highly acclaimed and suits the Qingmu Award judges’ tastes.”

”Who do you think has the best chance for Best Actor?” Zhou Yun curiously asked.

”Song Chi and Liang Yuanpu.” Zhou Lan analyzed, ”’I’m the Boss’ is indeed funny, but honestly, Shen Yao didn’t deliver a groundbreaking performance in it; the nomination itself is an affirmation. Zheng He’s acting in ’Silent Witness’ is good, but, like ’I’m the Boss,’ the movie’s quality limits the actor’s showcase. ’Laissez-faire’ is a brilliant ensemble cast, but Song Chi can still command attention in it, especially in the torture scene, which is quite shocking. Liang Yuanpu has already won the Best Actor at the Lingjun Award for ’He Mingfan,’ unlike your double-yellow draw with Yin Lin. Of course, Teacher You also has a chance. Teacher You, as the only male character in ’Behind the Scenes,’ gave an especially groundbreaking performance, completely different from his usual character image. It received much acclaim from industry professionals when it was released, but the drawback is that ’Behind the Scenes’ isn’t centered around his character. If it was shot from his character’s perspective, I think neither Song Chi nor Liang Yuanpu would be a match for him. Teacher You has acted for many years and hasn’t won a major award before, while Song Chi and Liang Yuanpu both have multiple Best Actor awards.”

Zhou Yun thoughtfully said, ”I just wonder who this year’s judges are.”

”Yes, in fact, who wins depends a lot on who the judges are. Different judges have different aesthetics and preferences.” Zhou Lan said, ”But anyway, ’Behind the Scenes’ can be said to have won big this time, earning nominations for all the important awards.”

”Xiao Jing didn’t get nominated for Best Supporting Actress, aren’t you upset?” Zhou Yun asked.

Zhou Lan: ”I was already mentally prepared. I know how Xiao Jing acted; her nomination would be encouraging, but it’s also normal not to be nominated.”

”But she’s definitely a bit disappointed; you should comfort her.”

”Yes.” Zhou Lan nodded, ”I will. Actually, being able to act in ’Behind the Scenes’ is already quite good for her, advancing her career by several levels. The Lingjun Award for Best Newcomer is enough for her to feed on for two years.”
