Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 801: Chapter 526: Overall Influence (3)

A director who can give appropriate feedback is actually a comforting presence for actors.

While ”Under the Grand Dress” was steadily advancing in its filming schedule, Song Chi’s movie ”Laissez-faire,” which starts shooting in September, made its official announcement. The cast includes Ning Xiner, Jiang Yuzhen, Zhang Hongyu, and Mo Yu, an all-star lineup, grabbing plenty of attention in the industry.

At the same time, Yuehai announced ”Half City Rain,” starting in September, starring Xu Siyao alongside Yuehai’s new male actor, Xin Zhike.

Two days later, the previously high-profile ”Stepmother’s Law” suddenly declared that the female lead would be played by Xu Siyao, meaning that her competitors Wei Ru Xue, Su Yan, and Chen Xi were all out. Furthermore, the male lead was revealed to be He Xuran, shocking the industry.

However, the wave of official announcements wasn’t over. Chen Xi, who had just been a topic of conversation for unexpectedly being out, returned in a triumphant manner, announcing her lead role in the major ancient costume IP ”Moonlight Lovers,” sweeping away the gloom of failing the competition in ”Stepmother’s Law.”

Ning Yao, who had been silent for a while, announced that she would star in ”Mortal Realm,” a new film by renowned Korean director Kim Bingde.

A flurry of messages emerging one after another caused quite a stir within the circle.

For the entertainment industry, gossip and rumor are never in short supply, but significant announcements like these are rare. When one comes out, it serves as a deep-water bomb, drawing almost everyone’s attention.

A blogger jokingly said that next year would be a big year, regardless of whether it’s TV dramas or movies.

Just then, both Yuehai and Kang Xin’s companies announced productions, revealing ongoing collaborations on new dramas with Zhou Yun.

One is a new suspense-life genre drama, and the other is a suspense-crime genre drama, both styles Zhou Yun hasn’t performed in before. The news immediately caused a sensation.

Especially Zhou Yun’s fans, who kept asking why she was taking on several TV dramas and not movies?

Zhou Yun had picked up the Qingmu Award for Best Actress with ”Life,” and after ”Behind the Scenes” made it to Cannes Film Festival, many of Zhou Yun’s fans were eager for her to secure a Movie Queen trophy from one of the three major film festivals.

So, many of Zhou Yun’s fans are waiting for her new movies. Currently, Zhou Yun’s movie stocks include ”Falling Leaves of Autumn” and ”Four Killers,” along with a cameo in ”Two Tigers.” Among these, only ”Falling Leaves of Autumn” has a chance for awards.

From their perspective, they hope Zhou Yun can collaborate more with big directors and make a push for the three major film festivals.

Zhou Yun surely wouldn’t respond to such questions.

Chengqian Entertainment is even less likely to respond.

Actually, ”Behind the Scenes” not securing Best Actress at Cannes Film Festival this time is quite regretful, especially since it had high chances for Movie Queen at Cannes.

Zhou Yun herself isn’t in a rush, given her youth and long future ahead. Her agency feels the same way; winning the Qingmu Award for Best Actress at such a young age is already a significant achievement that Zhou Yun can thrive on for years.

As for the three major film festivals’ Movie Queen, it really depends on luck.

It’s not something you can just win by wanting to.

On the contrary, Ning Yao performing in Kim Bingde’s ”Mortal Realm” has many people excitedly predicting she might push for the Movie Queen at one of the three major festivals.

Kim Bingde is internationally renowned, and nearly all his films compete in the main sections of the three major festivals.

Zhou Yun heard these voices but wasn’t affected by them. She does wish to act in films, but hasn’t come across suitable scripts yet. Meanwhile, she’s received several suitable TV drama scripts to her liking. The only planned film is New Shield’s ”Under the Moonlight,” as the war film ”Battle of Balance,” originally considered for development by Song Chi, was delayed when the intended director refused to take it.

Moreover, Wen Bing has a derivative film featuring a female assassin from ”Two Tigers” in the works intending to cast her. Yet, being a commercial film too, it’s likely not aligned with film festivals.

Song Chi also has a TV series in the pipeline seeking to cast her and Yu Zhiyang.

Zhou Yun reminds herself not to be influenced by the chaotic voices online. Nothing matters more than selecting projects based on her own criteria.

On the set of ”Under the Grand Dress,” after wrapping her daily shoot, Zhou Yun would attend meetings and discussions with the ”Deep Sea” crew.

Unexpectedly, towards the end of August, an entertainment media outlet released a comprehensive ranking of actors for the year, scoring actors based on input from one hundred industry experts across different fields. Zhou Yun, as a newcomer, surged to the top of the actress rankings, even surpassing Ning Yao and Wei Ru Xue, while Song Chi only ranked fifth on the male actors’ list.
