Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 817: Chapter 532: Hopping Mad

On this day, Cheng Shenlv took leave from the group to record a variety show.

Her agent told her, ”There’s been a problem with the second female lead in ’Youth Story’; she was dismissed from the crew. Sister Long asked me and wants you to step in. The crew of ’Youth Story’ is decent, and the team is okay. Wang Jing and Xie Pinyuan are the leads. I’m planning to take this opportunity for you. In the meantime, you should read some scripts and prepare.”

Cheng Shenlv was a bit surprised and asked, ”’Youth Story’? Isn’t Jiang Jiang the second female lead? Why was she dismissed?”

”Someone dug up that she had an abortion during her university days. The crew is worried this news could negatively impact the show, so they want to replace her before filming starts,” the agent said. ”Initially, Sister Long also wasn’t keen on casting her, but someone higher up specifically named her for the second female lead, so Sister Long complied. Now that there’s an excuse, Sister Long naturally eliminated her from the cast.”

Cheng Shenlv thought about it. Being the second female lead alongside Wang Jing and Xie Pinyuan wasn’t disgraceful, so she agreed.

Not to mention Wang Jing; her supporting role in ’Behind the Scenes’ got her nominated for mainstream awards. Xie Pinyuan rose to fame because of the drama ’Despicable Love Object,’ and is now considered a promising young star.

Cheng Shenlv said, ”But isn’t Wang Jing Sister Xiao Yun’s junior? Would Wang Jing be willing to let me play the second female lead? Previously, the show ’Deep Sea’ was canceled because we offended Sister Xiao Yun.”

”Wang Jing doesn’t have the clout to influence our casting decisions at Yuehai,” the agent said. ”Don’t worry.”

Hearing the agent say this, Cheng Shenlv felt reassured.

Cheng Shenlv had read the script for ’Youth Story.’ It was adapted from a popular online comic. She had tried to get the role before, but in June, ’Behind the Scenes’ was released, making Wang Jing an overnight sensation. Yuehai valued Wang Jing’s newfound fame and popularity, so the project went to Wang Jing.

After recording the variety show, Cheng Shenlv returned to the ’Under the Grand Dress’ crew, only to find that Guan Siya had also taken leave, and it was unclear where she went.

She went to ask Zhou Jianfeng, and he said, ”It seems she mentioned some work and asked for a few days off from the crew.”

Cheng Shenlv worried that Guan Siya had caught wind of ’Youth Story’ and was trying to compete for the role. She informed her agent about Guan Siya leaving the crew, and the agent reassured her not to worry, saying she was already negotiating the contract with Sister Long.

In the afternoon, a stranger showed up at the crew—a girl in a flowing white dress, with an artistic appearance. Her long black hair was tied with a silk flower, making her look delicate and beautiful.

Cheng Shenlv thought she was a newcomer, here to play a role in one of the day’s scenes, but after Zhou Jianfeng finished a scene, he approached her and spoke to her in a friendly manner.

Cheng Shenlv had never seen such an expression on Zhou Jianfeng’s face before.

Girlfriend?

That was immediately what Cheng Shenlv thought.

She knew Zhou Jianfeng had a girlfriend, his first love.

As Cheng Shenlv was about to go over, she suddenly saw Jian Man walk over, smiling warmly as she stood in front of Zhou Jianfeng and the girl and asked, ”Jianfeng, aren’t you going to introduce us to her?”

Zhou Jianfeng turned red, looking a bit embarrassed, scratched his head, and said, ”Sister Man, this is my girlfriend, Su Xiaoxiao.”

Jian Man played a picky and sophisticated fashion editor in the drama, and in real life, she resembled her character quite a bit. Or rather, the casting was likely based on the character’s traits from the script.

She scrutinized Su Xiaoxiao with a sweeping glance and said with a smile, ”Hello.”

Su Xiaoxiao clasped her hands in front of her and smiled quietly, ”Hello.”

Jian Man turned her smiling eyes to Zhou Jianfeng and said, ”Jianfeng, you’ve been keeping her well hidden! We’ve been filming together for a month, and I didn’t even know you have such a gentle girlfriend.”

Zhou Jianfeng looked a bit flustered.

Seeing this, Cheng Shenlv thought for a moment and decided to step in to relieve Zhou Jianfeng.

”Sister Man.” Cheng Shenlv walked over, ”What are you talking about with Zhou Jianfeng and them?”

Jian Man said, ”Shenlv, take a guess who this is?”

She glanced towards Su Xiaoxiao.

Cheng Shenlv pretended to think seriously and asked, ”Zhou Jianfeng’s girlfriend?”

Jian Man exclaimed, ”You’re spot on!”

”Just from seeing how Zhou Jianfeng usually acts, you can tell he definitely has a girlfriend, otherwise, with so many lovely ladies in our crew, he would’ve been tempted long ago.”
