Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 844: Chapter 540_3

Zhou Lan’s reminder made Zhou Yun realize that this matter might not be as simple as she imagined.

Zhou Yun thought for a moment and said, ”Anyway, let’s go have a look. If it’s just a broken financial chain and they need funds to continue production, it’s not a big issue. I’m very interested in animation production; if there’s a chance to see, I don’t want to miss it.”

In the evening, Zhou Yun discussed this matter with Song Chi over the phone.

Song Chi was even more perceptive than Zhou Lan. He asked, ”Are you thinking of filling their financial gap if their project is really good?”

Zhou Yun didn’t expect Song Chi to be so insightful.

”How did you guess?”

”Zhou Lan reminded you, yet you decided to go. You must be interested.” Song Chi laughed and asked, ”But, animation films basically have a hard time making a profit right now. If you’re thinking about investing, investing in animation films isn’t very cost-effective.”

Zhou Yun said, ”Well, it’s not entirely for investment. I’m just curious about how animation movies are made. Besides, I’ve earned quite a bit of money these past two years and haven’t used it. If Wui Lai’s animation film turns out well, supporting them to finish it isn’t impossible.”

”Then don’t rush to make a decision. If you really plan to invest in them, I’ll let Wu Chengbao take a look later; otherwise, releasing it would be a big issue.”

”Alright.”

After chatting with Song Chi, Zhou Yun looked up an animation film that Wui Lai had previously produced.

Honestly, it’s not bad, but there’s nothing particularly surprising about it—just a very plain story. Zhou Yun didn’t know if it was because she had grown up and couldn’t be moved by such stories anymore. But it’s evident that this animation film was made with great care.

Wui Lai is still seriously working on this film.

Zhou Yun arranged a time with Wui Lai to visit their studio.

That day, Zhou Yun and Zhou Lan went to where their studio was located together.

Wui Lai led a few people downstairs to greet them.

Upon meeting, their attitude was very enthusiastic.

Zhou Yun and Zhou Lan didn’t mention that they already knew about the financial difficulties and exchanged pleasantries, then followed them to tour the studio and see the completed segments, and finally listen to Wui Lai talk about the animation’s conception and creative process.

”This animation is entirely original by Director Xiao Bai.” Wui Lai introduced a slightly chubby man wearing black-framed glasses; this was Director Xiao Bai. ”I met him at an event and, after seeing his whole sketch, I wanted to produce this animation.”

”China has many colorful mythological stories, which are actually very suitable to be reinterpreted using animation. However, domestic animation paused for a long time, and the industry’s foundation and market are not very large now. Animation films are hard to make,” said Wui Lai. ”As you just saw, currently our animation is more than halfway completed. It’s expected to finish production by the end of next year, so we also want to invite Miss Zhou Yun to voice our heroine. With your involvement, we hope it will attract more audiences to theaters to watch this animation.”

Zhou Yun and Zhou Lan exchanged a smile.

Zhou Lan spoke up, ”Mr. Wui, I won’t beat around the bush. I heard that your animation is having some financial difficulties at the moment?”

Wui Lai was taken aback.

He apparently didn’t expect Zhou Yun and Zhou Lan to know about this matter.

In his thought, if Zhou Yun and Zhou Lan knew about this issue, why would they still come?

Wui Lai indeed planned to use the opportunity of Zhou Yun’s involvement to raise funds, but this wouldn’t count as deceiving Zhou Yun. As long as the funds could be raised, the animation could be completed smoothly; at that point, inviting Zhou Yun for voice acting, with a finished film, wouldn’t be lacking buyers.

The previous investors felt that the project was taking too long to complete and didn’t have confidence in its box office. To minimize losses, they withdrew their investment.

Wui Lai had been running around lately because of this, trying to attract new investment.

It was really hard to get.

He brushed against Zhou Yun earlier and had a sudden inspiration, coming up with this idea.

Zhou Yun is currently very popular. If she’s willing to voice act, it means she’s optimistic about this project. Everyone knows she’s the Box Office Queen. Her endorsement could provide confidence to investors.

Unexpectedly, Zhou Lan knew about their current difficulty and urgency.

Wui Lai gave an awkward laugh and rubbed his nose, admitting honestly, ”Since you know, I won’t hide it.”
