Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 815: Chapter 531: Words from the Heart (2)

Zhou Lan shook her head, ”Su Yan is involved in a Hollywood commercial blockbuster directed by Director Zhang, playing a cameo role as a princess.”

”Hmm?” Zhou Yun was taken aback.

Zhou Lan: ”A Hollywood film company has approached Director Zhang to produce a blockbuster film based on ancient Chinese mythology. Director Zhang is currently casting; however, the main cast of this film will mostly consist of newcomers, with well-known actors in major supporting roles.”

”Oh, that’s how it is.” Zhou Yun nodded.

Zhou Lan: ”Are you interested in making an appearance in this movie? If you’re interested, I can negotiate on your behalf.”

”Forget it, there’s no need.” Zhou Yun shook her head, ”Ah, I’d love to work with Director Zhang, but there’s no suitable project.”

Zhou Lan: ”No need to rush; there’s plenty of time. Even if Director Zhang wants to shoot with you now, your schedule would be hard to coordinate. You have many films lined up, ’Female Assassin’ is initially scheduled to start shooting next March, but there might be adjustments. Besides this film, ’Deep Sea’ plans to begin shooting in mid-October this year, and it’s expected to continue until late November. Director Kang Xin’s suspense drama is waiting on our schedule. I’m afraid ’Deep Sea’ might get delayed, so I’m thinking of negotiating with Director Kang Xin to start shooting in mid-December, creating a two-month gap before ’Female Assassin’. I also need to allocate time for the Berlin Film Festival; both VX and Jinling Jewelry have booked ads for the festival. As their ambassador, you must attend the opening ceremony red carpet and participate in two events.”

Listening to this densely packed schedule, Zhou Yun lowered her head and smiled.

”Calculating it now, I’m indeed very busy.”

Zhou Lan said: ”New Shield also has a movie, ’Under the Moonlight’, which is scheduled to start shooting in the latter half of next year, so your time is really tight.”

”I understand.” Zhou Yun nodded and said, ”Let’s put Director Zhang Yiwei’s film aside for now.”

Zhou Lan told her about all these arrangements to actually dissuade her from thinking of committing to a film requiring a four-month schedule.

Zhou Lan understood her well, knowing she was mulling things over.

”Xiao Yun, these are particularly critical years for you. Although you’ve won two significant awards and have been popular for two years, the time since you debuted is too short. Many things are about reaching a certain position over time.” Zhou Lan said, ”It’s not suitable for us to disappear from the audience’s sight for a long period now; this isn’t the era where you could make one film a year and remain popular. You’re still young and have many choices ahead; there will be plenty of opportunities to work with Director Zhang Yiwei in the future, not just for supporting roles but more for lead roles with you at the center.”

”Sister Lan, you don’t need to tell me these things; I understand.” Zhou Yun nodded, ”Gaining requires sacrificing, I’m just being too greedy.”

From an objective standpoint, shooting Director Zhang Yiwei’s film isn’t the optimal choice for Zhou Yun now.

Zhou Yun doesn’t need a renowned director to elevate her status or rely on a renowned director to chase awards. What she needs are excellent works to bolster her reputation and accumulate experience and accolades.

Just as Song Chi has been doing for several years.

Zhou Lan asked, ”After Xiao Jing received nominations for the Lingjun Award as Best Supporting Actress and Best Newcomer, several films came looking for her. The company has tailored a drama for her, both are lead roles. I’m selecting a script for her; do you want to look at the script for her?”

Zhou Yun nodded: ”Sure, but you generally can’t gauge much from a film script, unless it’s a genre or suspense film. It’s crucial to pick the team, especially the director. Really, for example, ’Four Killers’ had a script I genuinely liked, but the more I filmed, the less I felt.”

Zhou Lan said, ”I’ve read the scripts for these films, they’re mostly genre films. Frankly, it’s still relatively difficult for Wang Jing to land a major director’s film. I also feel she’s not the type of actress big directors prefer. Honestly, both Wang Jing and you have quite high aspirations, telling you both to fully listen to the director is pretty unrealistic.”

Zhou Yun understood what Zhou Lan meant.

In retrospect, whether it’s the XX heroine or actresses debuting in major director’s films, they’re usually of the ”white moonlight” type.
